I want to start by saying that I have always respected this business and appreciate the support they provide to our local community and school events. This review is not directed at the ownership or the business as a whole, but rather to raise a serious concern regarding the conduct of a specific employee.
Recently, a friend of mine had an extremely negative experience involving a staff member. While in the office, this employee was reportedly using inappropriate language, speaking aggressively, and complaining loudly in front of customers. After my friend left an honest public review describing his experience, the employee allegedly contacted him privately through social media, demanding the review be removed and making threatening remarks.
Later that same day, the situation escalated further when this individual confronted my friend in person at a local gas station and attempted to aggressively open his vehicle door, apparently seeking a confrontation. Regardless of personal disagreements, this type of behavior is deeply concerning and unacceptable from someone representing a local business.
Again, I want to emphasize that I value this scrap yard and the positive role it has played in our community. However, I hope management is made aware of this situation so it can be addressed appropriately. Professionalism, safety, and respectful treatment of customers are essential for maintaining trust within the community.
normal they are very nice and very informal but this morning just cause there was a little plastic on the end of my wires the guy running the scale I believe his name was Randy told me they couldn't take it. Witch is completely fine and after I was explained why I understood. After that tho he had a comment about how he couldn't deal with stupid people today and if he had to he was gonna hit someone. It was very unprofessional and extremely rude. I thought highly of this company but if they are gonna allow there employees to be rude and threatening customers I'll be taking my business to another scrap yard.
After writing this review there employee RANDY then proceeded to threaten me on Facebook and then tried to open my truck door at a gas station and was trying to fight me with his kids in the car all cause I wrote this review. What a stand up person
Thieves. For 800Lbs of metal they gave me $20. when i asked why, they told me without even making eye contact “ little bit of metal, buddy” .They thought I didn’t speak English, and being Mexican they obviously robbed me. Because once I asked them why $20? They did not even want to look at me cause of the shock I speak their language. And all of the workers that were there around the area where I was all walked away because they obviously didn’t want to be seen. They all are obviously in on their schemes. When I was unloading the metals i took there they were two white guys there. Yes they may have had more weight than me but not by a lot & what infuriated me the most was that they got over $500. While I only got $28 to be exact and honest. DO NOT GO THERE. ( well at least don’t go there if you’re Hispanic. But if you have a white friend, make sure he goes with you.) research the different metal prices and weigh your stuff. So you can have an idea about how much you could possibly get. Ignorant thieves. They will end up getting their own karma one way or another.
To the owners response: that slip or receipt is not mine. I never stated my name, or wrote it down. So it’s impossible that you have such paperwork. And the metals I took were not only “ light iron “ I took many other objects made from other metals. I understand it’s your business and want to make it see as a good place for customer service… it would be if everyone got treated the same and paid their fair amount. Since I arrived there your workers didn’t even want to speak to me. Just told me to place my vehicle in the yard and they would place a bin next to it. But that was a while after I got there.
We requested our metal to be picked up from our shop( automotive) and instead of paying for any of the metal they only decided to pay for rotors and says its policy to not pay for any other metal and still took it anyway. Basically one step short of stealing and refused to unload all the other metal he didnt want to pay for.
Great place and good people and pricing. I have been going here for years and they are always accommodating. I just wish they could all agree on what color my truck is when they are weighing and recording my scrap as they all see it as a different color!! All kidding aside, great to deal with!!
It's confusing for first time customers, but you pull in on the left. They give you a bin and you fill it. They weigh it and you go in and get your cash. The owner would do well to organize the lot a bit better. Prices appear to be reasonable.
Weighted all my metals and wires and got the same exact amount of money that I estimated, actually $20more because this is one of the only places that takes coax cable. Had I gone to WC scrap yard I would of made $120 less. Simple process with scale in plain sight. Pull up, weigh, get paid. I love scrapping lol.
Do not go here. They are dishonest at best. If I could give 0 stars I would. I am a plumber and brought 150lbs of copper and brass scrap to Doug and they gave .50c per lb. This is significantly less than the going rate and much less than quoted over the phone. I could not have kept my material as it had already been dumped and co-mingled before they had the gall to give their shameful price. Id hate to see something they don't pride themselves in. Perhaps a call to the BBB or weights and measures is in order.
Harris Metals is almost always my go to for when I haul in any scrap metal to earn a extra little bit of money. They are typically on the higher side of paying higher prices for what the going rate at that moment may be.
Our Boy Scout Troop has been using Harris for two years now to process scrap metal. It's our year round fundraiser and they are open Saturdays. Best prices paid for Bare Bright, #1 Copper and #2 Copper in the area. Whether you're a PT or FT scrapper always separate for the best price and ALWAYS ask their team questions. Their guys are there to help!
Wish I could give it ZERO STARS. Horrible place. Went today to take some cans and the worker who brought the box container hit a side of our truck and chipped the paint told them in the office and all they said was “I’ll talk to him” ..take your business elsewhere
This place is the best! Very nice, polite, friendly people. well organized operation, clean yard & the best prices around! It came highly recommended from a pro scrapper & I'm glad I took his suggestion. James is the most calmest guy I've met in this business, a real pleasure to do business with. My go-to dealer from now on. You will not be disappointed.
Friendly and helpful staff. You might have to wait due to the slower process. Prices suck. I compare my slips from Temple Salvage and Beartown Recycling to my slips from Harris.
That other reviewer must have never been to a scrap yard. This is the nicest scrap yard I've been. Paid me top dollar and offered a receipt. Helpful and friendly to boot! Thanks.
