This is a very interesting place. Staff were excellent and courteous. Sandra was the clerk and answered my many questions with great enthusiasm. I appreciated her interactions.
The wait was understandable as I had one car chassis minus engine and drive train on a trailer and ahead were two hauling trailers being loaded up by "the claw"!

I've been scrapping since I was a trashman in early 2000s. Used to believe all yards pay about the same. Found out the hard way this isn't true by far. Started a ticket at a yard in hanover where I would drop a load and when I was done I'd get paid. This yard only paid me 6.50 per hundred. 2 loads filled my 8 ft bed and 50 bucks. So I took my next load to prospect. Prospect paid me more for 1 load then the other company paid for 2. Prospect is the highest paying for steel. Their yard is easy to get in and easy to get out. Cash in hand 99 percent of the time and the scale lady is very polite and easy to talk too. Im telling everyone about prospect. You guys are the bezt
Don't go here go elsewhere, the old guy at the scale house is a joke, and you cant reason with him at all. You just lost a customer for lack of communication and stubbornness, i will take my business somewhere else
Do NOT go here. The first time I tried this location for scrapping metal the slobs that work here tried to swindle me out of 200lbs. I took down my weight and they tried to short me on the empty weight. They have no people skills and will try to scam you out of every penny. They do not care about figuring out what you have and will fight you on everything telling you its a cheaper metal or co-mingled. The second time i tried to use Prospect Metal Co I showed up at 4:25 and waited for somebody to come to the window to help me with what would have been a 60 second transaction and instead they pulled the blinds and shouted through the door that they close at 4:30. In my honest opinion it would be far beneficial to any potential customer to put in the extra time and go somewhere else.
These guys are great. They are set up for every possible customer.
I was there to get rid of some basement junk. The guy ahead of me had a flatbed full of crushed cars. We both got treated well.
My junk included some boxes of old nails. Yes, they have a place to put old nails and other small items. And a place for the crushed cars.
My junk added up to 260 pounds, which at this particular day's rate paid me $26. Cash. I can have fun with $26, and I got some junk cleaned out! Woo-hoo!
Work in an auto shop and techs get to split the scrap money. Tried other scrap yards that say they pay more but somehow always got less. After over 3 years of doing this I found out real quick Prospect is the easiest and most up front one around. Not worth even try other places IMO. Plus now the have it set up to get cash right on the spot.
