Expensive recycling! They charged $30 to recycle one wooden pallet that I brought in and dropped off. It didn't have any damage and could be re-used as is. They will probably grind it up into bark chips that they will sell anyway, yet charge that much for brining in material that they will use. Next time, I'll go somewhere else.
I've been here three times - once to dump concrete chunks, once to dump concrete, some brick pavers, and some small logs, and once to dump two old toilets. I haven't been to any other recycling dump like this one so I can't provide any comparison, but I'm really glad that there's recycling for this kind of stuff, and it was so convenient to be able to take diverse materials all to one place! It's also very easily accessible from the interstate. The staff were attentive and I was in and out each time very quickly, including unloading.
The place got really expensive in the last year or so with less focus on customer service! not sure why ,while other landscape suppliers are selling the same for less and providing actually better service...Too bad !!
I've been very pleased with this business for over 20 years, but I'm VERY disappointed today. The S&H website says it is open until 5:00 pm today and for all weekdays. When I arrived at 4:20 pm and got out of my car to pay, a person drove up and said "We're closed." I explained that I had relied on the website for open hours and had an urgent need to empty my trailer because I was going out of town and others needed to use it. She reiterated: "I'm sorry, we're closed." I had to turn around with a full load and head back to my yard. Either correct the web site or explain to your staff the hours you are open!
Very disappointed that they are taking advantage of the devastating ice storm that destroyed so many trees in west linn. I took three trailers full of debris. The people in the store just decided to estimate the trailer at 4 yards which is twice what my trailer holds. They charged $84 per load Multiple reports of neighbors this weekend. I will not use their services again.
Excellent customer service and prompt response time! My company had an emergency situation in which we needed a drop box in the morning for us to be able to operate. I called S and H at 7 pm and they were able to deliver to us a box by 8 AM.
Best prices for almost anything, used to go to Metro in Oregon City, but they over charge compared to here. Not only is it a landscaping business, but they also sell high quality meat products and fresh eggs (which are to die for, I will never buy them at a grocery store again!) And everything is local from the owners farm! Costumer service was outstanding, especially from the 2 ladies that are always there. Everyone has been so helpful the times I've come in. HIGHLY SATISFIED!!!!! Thank you to everyone at S&H!
Had the most awkward experience at this dump yesterday a girl that looks maybe about 16 comes running down the hill asking if I had payed the contamination fee. Not knowing there was more fees on top of the $40/yard to dump soil I said yes, a few seconds later she says you need to clean up all the garbage in the soil or go pay the fee not in a nice way. Better costumer service would be great for future costumers. The problem was the way she approached the situation.

I have been a long-time S and H customer, but recently began taking my yard debris to the Metro Oregon City Transfer Station. On a recent load (5x8 utility trailer), I was quoted $50 to drop at S and H. I ended up going Metro where I was charged $19. If you are like me and Oregon City isn't too far out of the way, it may be worth the drive. The transfer station also has longer hours: 7 am to 6pm daily in the Winter (including on the weekends). In the Summer these hours expand until 7 pm.
Garden mulch was full of grass seed. It took us years to remove all of the grass that eventually sprouted. When I called to complain they could care less. Awful! Will never use them again.
We were able to dump our yard debris, old cement and wood all in one place. And then get mulch for the yard. All in one place! Staff were nice and attentive.
I've transacted with S&HG numerous times and always found their products to be exactly as advertised and their staff to be friendly and efficient. Any more I never consider going anywhere else.
This company’s Dump truck full of rocks past the brim of the truck 3 feet over hit a bump on the highway and rocks came flying at my car like shower of rocks almost caused an accident I honked rolled down my window at the driver to no help. got the number off the side of the truck and called spoke to the owner and he assured me he would fix my cars damaged cause it wasn’t ok not to have a tarp covering even had a witness hearing all this and now he’s denying it with insurance...very illegal and pathetic ownership in my opinion!!
They want $50 just for a truck bed load of scrap wood. What a rip off. Used to be $15. Go anywhere else and it's half the price. What a bunch of tools working there!
I haven't had any experiences with rude staff in my visits there, but I have experienced the high prices and haphazard load size charges. Not only are the per yard load prices pretty high, but I've had my trailer be assessed at 1-3 yards depending on who was at the counter.
Been there 3 times and have had the worst experience With the staff and prices, first time i went to dispose of old lumber i was quoted for more yards than what i actually had and i payed since i had no choice! Second time i showed up at 4:40pm when they close at 5 pm and the staff membretes did not want except the old fence i had to throw away! One day before my third visit My brothers had stopped by With about 6 yards of an old wood deck and where charged 45 dollors to get rid of it. So on my third visit, right the next day, i showed up With 3 yards of old decking, was quoted for 4 yards of old decking at 80 Dollors. Was told by the manager that if ididnt like it to go to metro which was a huge inconvenience for me. Was finally fed up with there crap so I left and now I'm driving miles out of my way from my job sight to throw away my crap somewhere else. BS I'll tell you for a contractor who works a lot out by the lake Oswego and west Linn area and buys material from them.
I took and old fence there the other day to recycle and was charged a $100.00. It was about 8 or 900 lbs of material. If I had taken it to Metro or Hillsboro landfill, the price would have been half that. I think S and H have great landscaping supplies, but be warned, disposal of lumber there can cost you alot more than other options.
