If you love Volvos then you will love this shop! My family and I have been going to Rich for many many years. I’ve not only bought multiple cars from him but had maintenance and repairs done as well. Great customer service and pricing is on point. I appreciate him always being so knowledgeable and honest. This shop will always keep my business!

The VO motor team was great. They found a MUCH cheaper and effective solution for what could have been an expensive repair (sunroof wouldn’t close). The team was prompt, courteous and professional. Don’t let appearances fool you; they do great work. We will be back!

prompt, professional, and courteous. I brought my xc90 in and he addressed all issues I had as well as a few that came up in the inspection. I lost the lug key to my wheels and they drove out to Jim Fischer to get a replacement on my behalf. I am happy to have found VO motors and will be using this shop as our sole service provider going forward

I recently had another amazing experience at VO Motors, and I am thrilled with their service. As someone who has had their Volvo repaired multiple times over the years, I confidently say that this is the best place to go. The team at VO Motors not only replaced my water pump flawlessly, but they also went above and beyond by discovering and fixing an issue with my timing belt. This discovery has made a significant impact on the performance of my car. I have owned my Volvo for 14 years, and it has seen its fair share of mechanics. From inexperienced beginners to self-proclaimed Volvo gurus, I have had all levels of expertise work on my car. However, VO Motors stands out from the rest. They demonstrated a level of professionalism and expertise that surpassed my expectations. My Volvo has an impressive 560,000 miles on it, and although it was running decently, I knew that something wasn't quite right with the timing. There wasn't a single setting where the engine ran smoothly under all conditions. For the past 14 years, I had been struggling with the timing on my car, constantly adjusting it by advancing it in the heat of summer and retarding it in the cold of winter. Even when following the recommended settings from a timing light, the engine didn't perform optimally. It lacked power at times and occasionally experienced misfires. However, after VO Motors fixed the timing belt, my car runs like a dream. It starts effortlessly, the misfires are gone, and it now boasts significantly improved power. One aspect that surprised me is how well old Volvos run even with the timing belt off by a notch. Most cars wouldn't even start, but thanks to Volvo's non-interference engine design, it remains functional. This is a testament to the quality and engineering of these vehicles. With VO Motors' expertise, my Volvo is now operating at its full potential. I genuinely couldn't be happier with the service I received from VO Motors. Their attention to detail, technical knowledge, and dedication to customer satisfaction are truly commendable. If you own a Volvo and require expert repairs or maintenance, I wholeheartedly recommend VO Motors. Trust me, you won't find a more reliable and skilled team to take care of your beloved vehicle. Thank you, VO Motors, for your exceptional work and for bringing new life to my Volvo.

By far the most shady and unhonest business I have ever done work with. I purchased a 1992 volvo 740 turbo wagon from Rich and his workers, and when I went to look at the car they said that it needed some work, mainly that the brake lights didn't work, the oil needed changed and the vacuum lines needed replaced as well as the struts were bad, so I put a down deposit and let them take their time on it. After a week or so, I called to see if they had made any progress, and rich said that they weren't able to get to the struts but it was ready to go, so I went to pick it up. Immediately after leaving the lot, I noticed a major vacuum leak causing the vehicle to not go over 45. I pulled over and called rich and they said it might be a small line that popped off, so I took it to my personal shop and proceeded to find that almost every vacuum line had holes and tears in them, and the boost guage line had a stick shoved in it. After going through and replacing all the vacuum lines even after being told they had been replaced, I went and checked the oil and it was black and low, so very hard to believe it had been changed within the month. I'm not even scratching the surface of the issues that were overlooked by his shop. I'm not sure if Rich was trying to screw me over or if his techs are being dishonest with him, but I will never let them near any of my vehicles or anyone I care about for that matter.

These guys are the best. Honest, accurate estimates and on time. I have had many Volvos over the past 30 years. Love coming here.

The only place I’ll be taking my Volvo! Richard is a kind and thoughtful man and went above and beyond to provide excellent service. Solved a problem no other mechanic or Volvo specialist had been able to solve for the two years I’ve owned my 1993 Volvo 240

Bought a 1990 240 dl. Was on vacation and was having an issue with the car starting and running. Did a Google search and found Volvo's only call call Rick and he said bring it down Had to have the car towed. Got me fixed and running and I'm on my way in a few hours bought some other parts and very fair priced recommend this to anyone and everyone in the area.

I was looking for replacement wheels and couldn't find anything under $490 with 7-10 day wait. Paul was able to find me a replacement for $85 available the next day and already had it ordered by the time he followed up with a phone call. Fast, punctual, communicative, everything I could hope for from an auto shop. I am very impressed!

Old and new folks have been amazing. Everryones willing to help and answer questions without being demeaning or condisending. Theres no BS, they're straight shooters and are honest about the work and cost. Super thankful to have found such wonderful mechanics.

Richard has been maintaing my Volvos for 20+ years, and taking care of them with a depth of knowledge that only comes from doing something 40 hours a week for that long. They say it takes 10,000 hours to truly master something... well, Rich has clocked well over 40,000 hours on all things Volvo automobile related. Between that and the always fair pricing, it's a pretty powerful combination and you are in safe hands.

This place is a complete sham. Great place if you're into someone totally taking advantage of your situation. Moving shop locations does not automatically reset your reputation sir, bribery for reviews isn't going to save you either.

Wont refer this store for a couple of reasons. Primary reason is the "mechanic" seemed uninterested in my issue regards to my 940. Richard is the go to guy but his mechanic is not someone that I felt comfortable with

Volvo's Only in Oak Grove is a great resource for those who need: - Parts for their older Volvo car (Rich can order new parts, you can bring in your own to be installed, or perhaps used/known good parts my be in stock). - Maintenance/Repair services on any year/model of Volvo car. - Flexibility in regards to repair cost when it comes to those who are budget minded. - Module relearn/flashing for a reasonable price. - Excellent place to bring your vehicle for a pre-purchase inspection. - Answers to any question Volvo related. - Usually priority service can be provided if you're willing to pay a little extra. - Vehicle DTC (Check Engine Light On) retrieval, and reasonably priced shop time costs for further trouble code diagnosis. *** In summary, these guys can help you limp along your Volvo beater, or reliably service your well maintained, cared-for vehicle at reasonable prices when compared to other Volvo shops. Let them know what you want/need, be clear, and you'll have a great encounter. Don't leave anything up for interpretation. Request everything in writing, pay with a credit card, and request receipts for parts and services. That way, both parties are covered should there be any discrepancy. Keep in mind, these principles must be applied to all automotive repair shops. I'm not picking on Volvo's Only. *** Enjoy --- 🙂♂️

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Place is a junk yard and all of their parts are broken. complete scam artists. All the the mechanics at this shop do not know what they are doing and you will end up bringing your car back here once you drive it off the lot for something else they overlooked. Told me my car had an exhaust leak and instead of sealing it They put a broken exhaust pipe on my car and it fell off on the highway when i picked up my car that day. then they wanted to charge me to repair it! Shocking. Also took them 7 days to diagnose a simple idle problem that I ended up going somewhere else to fix.

Volvos Only is great. I bought a Volvo from Rich. He customized it from his inventory. Want a roof rack? Ok. Here you go. Want better wheels? Ok. I put together - twice now - my own old-school volvo classic. awesome.

Probably one of the best junk-yards I've ever been to. Yes. Volvo's Only. But. He loaned me tools willingly I had forgotten. Can't say I know another yard that has done the same. Thanks Rich!!

Rip-off 10 years ago....continues to rip people off. This guy is a complete scammer. I have not been back (will never return) and can see from these reviews things haven't changed. Oh, except that this sleazebag moves from location to location. Don't be fooled by this predator.

Been going for years. Great mechanics work there. Good deals. Not for noobs but awesome if you have an old Volvo you want to keep running :)

I recently purchased a car from a person on Craigslist, only to find out that they are an affiliate of Volvo's Only and in the business of selling cars that Volvo's Only have put band-aide repairs on in hoped that after the car is purchased they will come back by referral to Volvo's Only for repairs. When I purchased the car, the title was in Rich Standau's name, the seller I was dealing with was named Andrew (don't have last name now because I sent it in with the registration paperwork). Andrew plead some sob story as to why this was the case, and I went with it because I was simply drained from dealing with the situation. Long story short, this mechanic is NOT TO BE TRUSTED! A friend of mine purchased a volvo from Andrew as well, which we realized after 2 months. Both of our cars need work to be drivable, mine over $2,300 and his over $4,000. The title on both were in Rich's name, and both were sold by a chipmunk-y short statured man named Andrew who wanted to meet at Glendoveer Gold Course. Andrew, of course, referred us to his "amazing" mechanic, claiming he would give us a "friend discount", which was none other than Volvo's Only. Sparing the minor details, I would plea that you NEVER get your car worked on by this mechanic, and ALWAYS get your car inspected before purchasing!

If you value your Volvo and do not want to be ripped off severely avoid this criminal like your life depended on it! This is a Bait and Switch shop, tell you one thing as far as price than charge double! No warranty and never stands behind ANY WORK WHAT SO EVER!!! The Attorney Generals Office has indicated tons of complaints, but Rich refuses to return their calls so investigations have been stopped, however current AG is aware of problem, is investigating them. They will Sabotage your vehicle to cost you more money, leave parts off to endanger your life and worse! Read the YELP Reviews they are telling the truth!!! This site is paid for so this review will only be up till Rich removes it!!!!!! Go to Attorney General make complaint, insist this kind of business does not belong in Portland!!!j

Update: Well, it looks like these guys are suffering the fate of many mechanics who work on older cars: They seem to be trying to meet a specific price point by using inferior parts. About a year and a half ago I took the car in for a "check engine" light. Diagnosis: O2 sensor - for about $200 it was back on the road. Almost exactly 1 year later, same problem only this time it was almost twice the price - and they did the work without even calling to tell me what it would cost - and I was calling every day to ask what it would cost....I protested that an O2 sensor should last more than 1 year, but no record could be located that I had brought the car in before. After 1 week of them digging through haphazard piles of paper they located my previous work order. They then gave me a $45 credit (not sure what for) and I left with the car supposedly fixed but the "check engine" light still on. It's hard to work on these old cars - especially for people on a budget - but forthrightness and honesty go a long way and I did not get that from these guys. Previous post: Took my 240 wagon here twice in the past two years. First time I pulled in loosing coolant and in a hurry. They could have charged me anything to get me going but 3 guys jumped on the car and found 1 bad hose. Fixed it and had me out of there in 20 minutes for about $85 total. Very happy with that. Next time, my wife went in with a list of things - including "fix center console". Everything got done except they lost the keys for an hour when she went to pick it up and for the console all they did was put in a new plastic shell ($80). They kept all the lights and switches which our broken one had. I took the car back, ready for a fight - but again, they jumped on it and made it right as fast as they could, convincingly apologetic. Lesson Learned: I'm glad there are places to fix these great old cars - I'll go back, be clear about what I want and pay attention to the work in order to avoid drama - but mainly because I can also grab a few odds and ends from their extensive library of used parts when I'm there.

Just brought my car in for a rebuilt transmission. The quality of work and service were excellent... just as they've been over the several years I worked with them. Consistently the work has been within the estimate. I give Rich, Cletus, Amber and staff high marks!

This place is awesome! I've been dealing with Rich for a long time with my different Volvos and he is both honest and effecient. He hires good people like Amber and Cleatus who all hope for a good outcome. I would recommend them to everyone I know.
