They are very thorough. You get a warranty. I had no idea how complex transmissions are. They are really good at keeping you aware of what is going on and options. I definitely recommend them, and I will go there for the preventive maintenance.

I recently took my 2011 Mazda CX-7 to Jim and Sons for a transmission rebuild. They came highly recommended and I can definitely see why! They stand behind their work they were diligent in diagnosing and fixing a noise problem that I encountered after the initial rebuild. All of this was under the warranty and covered. They also provided a loaner car for me. I can't say enough good things about Max, Dan, Steffi and Tiffany. They treated me like family. I was very confident every step of the way that they were going to stand behind their work. I've never dealt with an auto service shop that treated me so fairly and went above and beyond! Max took the time to sit and talk with me about the issues. Steffy and Tiffany kept me up-to-date on all the progress. I highly recommend them for any transmission problems. They have earned their stellar reputation. This is a rarity in this day and age! Thank you for everything Jim and Sons!

They rebuilt my rear differential on my 2001 mustang GT and they did an awesome job! The differential feels smooth, quiet and solid. I also appreciate the fact that they began working on my car shorty after I dropped it off and the work was completed quickly. I will definitely use Jim and Sons for any transmission work in the future.

I was having an issue with a slipping, hard shifting transmission. Jim & Son's was able to get my vehicle in quickly, let me know what they found, and what their recommendations were. I'm will definitely go to Jim & Sons if I need transmission work in the future.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my experience with Jim & Sons! My mechanic recommended getting my car checked out here so I made the call. They got me in relatively quick, diagnosed the issue & kept me in the loop from drop-off to pick-up. Having never had transmission work done, Tiffany took the time to explain the process all the while being very patient with all of my questions. I just picked my car up today; it's as good as the day I bought it, if not better. For having my car for less than a week, I'm beyond impressed. Thank you for getting it back on the road!

I drive a 13 year old car. 2012 ls460 with 203,000 miles. I started having a studder issue and they were the only ones that would look at. I called a number of other places and most of them either didn't work on Lexus or just wouldn't because of age. The staff here is very friendly and informative and what I thought was going to be big issue with a big price tag was not. $200 service and I haven't had problem since. This place rocks!

My wife & I were traveling through Ohio and started having truck issues. We were pulling a large camper & naturally became concerned. I thought there might be a transmission issue & called Jim & Sons. They stated they were booked pretty far out & couldn't make the appt for immediate service. Later in the day we stopped there & one of the owners sons overheard me explaining our situation to the young woman at the counter. He came right out & offered to take the truck for a test drive. He gave me his professional opinion as to what the issue might be (he was correct) and wouldn't take any payment from us. His customer service was phenomenal & he couldn't have been more professional. I don't think he needs our review at this point but we felt so much better after talking to him. Thank you again!

I would like to thank everyone at Jim & Sons that put in the extra effort to get the new rebuilt transmission for my 2006 Toyota Avalon! The first transmission didn't work, so they got one that would pass all tests. They knew I was really sick, and lent me a car until they could the transmission worked perfectly. Everyone in the office, Max, and Dan and the crew were super customer oriented and helpful. They really put the time and care into getting the job done right. Would refer anyone to their shop in Cuyahoga Falls!

Recently got my cars transmission shifting cable replaced here. Normally I would do all work on my own but considering my car was stuck in the middle of the road and I was not exactly sure of the issue, I decided the $150 tow might be better to a shop then 30 ft into my driveway. Jim and Sons are closed on Sunday but called me early on Sunday, very nice on the phone. I was told the inspection would be $128. A day later they tried quoting me at $620 for transmission fluid and shift lever cable, and told me I would need to take it to an electrical specialist because of the brake switch I told them I took out. I also told them I just replaced my transmission fluid. So I was upset then when they were trying to push a $200 service on me I told them was already done. I said no, they then said it would be $492 before tax. The next day it was ready for pickup which was not bad timing but considering the fix they did it still took too long. When I paid it was $390 which is less than quoted but considering the part I think its extreme gouging. $182 for OEM part, which basically amounts to a plastic bushing and steel cable, that can be found from doorman and similar reliable brands for $35. The labor I do not have complaints about because people have certifications to make money. But after my $182 (should be $40) part they still had the nerve to write on my receipt “trans fluid very dirty/contaminated. “ and “no brake lights see electrical specialist”. My fluid is perfect because it only has 2000 miles on it, I checked it before it got there. My brake light switch was a 30 second install that is impossible to mess up. So they tried lying to me about my fluid, charged me $390 for a $35 part, and could not complete an extremely simple task of plugging in a connector and twisting a plastic part in that is part of the transmission system. Very disappointing on the lying and part gouging. Nice people though. Would not recommend for anything. Edit: two days later, there is clutch material showing up on my dipstick. Yes with the age of this car the clutches should be replaced but there was none of this material on the stick before I went to Jim and Sons. I check my fluids regularly and have never noticed this other than after I went there. Extremely disappointed is an understatement in the cost and outcome of my service. Will never be back. Also wrench light came up on dash somehow right after service.

Excellent Service! Our regular auto mechanic recommended Jim and Sons to us, when he thought our problem was the transmission. Jim and Sons got us in right away to check out our Escape's transmission. They were supportive in our decision to think it over, due to the cost. We finally decided to get it fixed, and again, they got us in right away. Jake did a great job of informing us of the progress, and we can happily say, it is running like new again. ALSO, Jim and Sons insist on a two week warranty check, just to make sure all is good. A quick, no appointment necessary, check up, to make very sure that we are good to go. We HIGHLY recommend Jim and Sons Transmission!

Over the years, we have brought our family’s cars to Jim and Sons. We consistently get great work and, I am not exaggerating to say their communication and customer service is fantastic! They operate at the level of a fine hotel concierge! No one likes to spend money on a transmission, but their prices have been more than fair and they do a great job of detailing the work they do related to cost.

Had my transmission replaced last fall. A month later it failed when my wife was out of town. Nissan would not stand behind their product but Jim & Sons did. I towed it back to them and they fixed it for free and even repaired an axle seal I damaged backing my car off the ramp. Honest and reliable.

I was a former customer, and I returned with my new-to-me SUV with all wheel drive that needs routine transmission maintenance. Easy scheduling, I dropped my vehicle off the night before. Work was done as promised, The price was fair. The shop is very clean. They explained everything they did, made recommendations, and I was back on the road.

As a 68 year old female it was comforting to go to Jim & Son's Transmission in Canton, and here is the reason why. From the time I walked in to the time I walked out, I felt completely at ease. I was recommended to go to them (word of mouth from a Tire shop), and I am not disappointed. They were up front about everything. Explained everything. Showed me pricing of everything and did not pressure me for anything. I left my van Friday and picked it up Monday. It runs better than it ever has. I recommend them to everyone. Oh, the cost...was not as high as a lot of places around here. It's hard to find a trustworthy vehicle shop these days...I just found mine. Thank you!

Scheduling appointment was easy. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was done within the quoted time. Appointment is needed here, the likeliness of just walking in getting service done is slim to none. There would have to be a no show, or cancellation. That doesn’t really happen. They’re that good.

Some of the very best in the land to be sure. I recommend them to everyone. In fact, our family and friends have been coming to them for years. Sadly though I fell on hard times and so did the health of not only my self but my wife and children as well. I was supposed to bring my van in there for repairs multiple times for everything to continuously fall apart. From what I thought was a miracle...Which was a friend reaching out to me about their family friend Rick's Transmissions in Ravenna.. Well the guy only charged me 350 dollars to "fix my issues". Whereas Jims was going to be way more expensive.. But Rick then told me he was still on the fence after the repairs and to contact him again if I had any issues with my van. Well I did... and now he refuses to answer me. So now i am screwed. I am disabled and almost passed away multiple times due to overwhelming health issues and... I am trying my best to get better so I can do something for my family to get back on their feet again.. Without a vehicle i have to suffer ride shares through my insurance not showing up or getting terrible drivers.. How can i get better if i cant get to my doctors? How is my kids going to live a decent life if they cant leave to go places? How do i get groceries outside of expensive deliveries where people make mistakes on our order all the time? Its been rough and the adultings been really hard to say the least.. I just wish I could have been able to wait and save up for this shop instead. Crazy how something as simple as a mistake getting the wrong person to fix your vehicle could spell a death sentence for your family... but it can and is for us.. God bless you guys over there and maybe next life! If you guys are still around. - Tom P.S. Jim and sons SAVED me i called TEN PLACES for my CVT Trans and they were the ONLY ones that could. professionals super quick and this card personally written with their signatures???? what else can i say they are kind and great at their job. you need your tranny fixed go to Jim and Sons they are AWESOME (also unlimited miles 3 year warrenty is SWEEEET)

After a trans service at another shop I had problems. Was told I needed a new transmission. Wanted another opinion. I called to schedule an appointment and it was the best service from the very first phone call. Their techs discovered my trans fluid was low by 2 quarts and there was a bolt loose on the cv shaft. Topped off the fluids and tightened the bolt properly and I’m good as new. No new transmission was needed. I can not thank them enough for saving thousands of dollars on a new transmission or possibly a new car. Thank you!

Let’s start with the good 1. Got me in around the holidays 2. Let me drop my car off overnight night 3. When speaking on the phone very professional 4. Polite when picking my vehicle up 5. Explained what I needed and extra services I needed as well What I would recommend needs improved 1. Definitely communication… wasn’t updated unless I called even though I was told multiple times “we will call with and update” 2. I wasn’t told the first transmission they ordered was a dud and that they were getting a new one… until I called also don’t know how many miles are on the new one… the one I was told had 45k now I’m clueless on the one I currently have. (Should list this on invoice) 3. Wasn’t told it would take days longer than quoted…until I called 4. Noted a coolant hose leak on my invoice but wasn’t told about it… I would have gotten that fixed while my car was there (if you service them) 5. If you work on my car make it completely safe… if you change sway bars or control arms the vehicle should be aligned… my car now drags to the right and shakes uncontrollably when going over 60mph… was told they didn’t align it. I had snow tire put on and got an alignment a week before dropping it off to them…now I’ll have to pay yet again for one Finally notes I was recommended by a work colleague and I’m in the service industry so I know how important it is to communicate and update especially when things don’t go as planned the thing is I would have no issues but I had to keep calling to check in so that now outshines the work you did. I hope I have no issues within the warranty period because I don’t want to return. Not a bad shop it just didn’t sit well with me not aligning my car… I drove 45 mins to you for service and had to drive 45 mins back home with a shaking steering wheel and almost hit another car since it jerked to the right. After paying 4k I expected exceptional work. Hopefully this improves within your shop going forward thank you!

I had an excellent experience at Jim & Sons in North Canton. The staff was courteous, and the premises was clean and well cared for. My 2012 Camry with over 200k miles runs great, and now I'm confident that my transmission is in great shape too. In an industry where a service shop usually looks for ways to pad the bill, Jim's wasn't that way. They were honest, which is refreshing! Very affordable. Typically the price of transmission service seems scary to me, but not so at Jim & Sons. Thanks guys!

Honestly great service and work. They were quick communicative and got my transmission rebuilt 3 days quicker than what they quoted me. Can’t complain and will be coming back. Sidenote: most places that work on vehicles you usually get a less than savory individual if you know what I mean (Lyle missing teeth and a beer belly you could land a plane on) but here they are all professional looking, well spoken, clean uniforms and know how to communicate clearly. I don’t want to profile but that says a lot to me as a consumer

Wonderful service. This shop was recommended to me and they did not disappoint. The Office Managers at both the Cuyahoga Falls and the North Canton locations were transparent, kind and helpful. We were able to get an appointment quickly with great service. They made recommendations for work they could not do. Informative, thorough and kind. Highly recommend.

These people are LEGIT with a capital L. I had them rebuild my 2002 Suburban about 10 years ago and that thing ran until I scrapped it. They just replaced my girlfriends cvt on her honda fit. If this tells you anything about their quality of work, the first transmission they received they did not like, instead of going the easy route and putting it in any way, they sent it back and asked for a different one. Most shops would have thrown it in, taken our $ and sent us on our way. They are extremely fair with their prices and do not try to hide any fees to surprise you with later. The first shop my girlfriend called quoted her over 1,000$ more than Jim's without even looking at the car first. Their customer service is also top notch, very responsive, freely sharing information. Not a single surprise during the whole process. I will never take my transmissions anywhere else but Jim's. Honesty and quality work are unfortunately hard to find these days, not here. They've been around as long as they have for a reason.

IMO I needed to figure out who to take my car too when the half shaft broke due to corrosion. I am super impressed that Max took care of my cars. They got me a car rental and performed the work in a timely manner. Customer service was great, and he updated me every step of the way. The price was reasonable. I would highly recommend this company.

The auto shop I use noticed a rear differential leak and referred me to J&S as they did not do transmission work. It took about a week to get an appointment but the service advisor was friendly and scheduling was easy. I had indicated over the phone and on the drop off envelope about proceeding with 2 of the 3 recommended services, but they had performed all 3 when I picked up my car and was charged as such. After speaking with Max, he very kindly removed the charges for the item. I really appreciate that he trusted me and commend the customer-orientation these folks have!
