Excellent. Convenient. Don’t leave anything outside the fences when they aren’t open. The staff has to go through the contents of the bags and can send the sheriff to ticket you if they find anything with your name on it. They don’t need to dig through your trash. Come back when they’re open. 😁
Normally I would give a 5 star cuzvhb the ladies are exceptional. but I'm upset about them not opening bulk bins. I'm 70+ years old.plus I have a slight handicap. I had stuff to go into a bulk bins. All bins was closed. I asked the lady to open one she said to toss it over into the first bin that was full. I'm short. Handicap so I tossed it. It went up in the air and back down on my head. It almost knocked me out. Thank God someone saw what happened and offered to toss it for me. Now here is what makes me angry. As I was driving away she went and opened another bin. People when one bin fills up. open another bin. Simple as that. Dont ask senior citizens to toss crap up into a super high bin. It ain't happening. And honestly if someone gets hurt ( like i did) lawsuit.
Since my husband‘s passing, this was my first time at this facility. I found it to be easy Peezy to get rid of my garbage waste and cardboard. The nice lady HELP show me where each should be placed. I find that come in here while running my normal errands is easier and safer for me than having a garbage service at my curb. Since I am not strong, this is so much easier for me. Thank you for having this service available to us.
Been using this spot for the past 5 ish years never had a problem even though I come in with huge loads of trash sometimes, as long as you take it slow and be respectful they really don't have a problem. =)
Friendly and helpful staff! Everything is run cleanly and efficiently. I come in here several times a week and never have any issues. Much better than paying GFL for a curbside pickup.
The dumpster was a little dirty. Very amusing place, highly recommended, had a blast looking at the dumpsters. Fun place to bring the fam. There was a toilet in the dumpster and it looked a little sad.
4/2/23 The website needs to be updated to say Carteret county trash only!! This was my first and last visit there. I was turned away because my residence was in Swansboro, Onslow County.
Employee at the ffront umbrella (in the rain) helped me 19 August 2022 at about 1430. Absolutely helpful and considerate. Could not ask for anything better. THANK YOU.
Every time I take my trash I get turned away most of the staff are nice there's a couple that got attitude but mostly Part Just stupid rules I've been going there for the last 30 years my family used to open and close the gate before they had any staff working and now I can't even take a bag of trash there without being turned away and told to take it to hibbs road I live at the other end of West fire Tower why should I have to take my trash to hibbs road I thought that's what I paid my taxes for mine as well shut the site down
I have used this site for last 10 years. Very happy with it....very professional and friendly crew working there. Not sure why it just has a 3.9 rating.
The whole site is recycled. Designated containers for what you are throwing away. A days of operation sign hanging on fence would be a good idea. For new family's and seniors moving to the area. That way it might keep abandon trash on the outside of the fence. At some sites.
Super convenient location that's free for Carteret County residents to use. Any household or lawn items are accepted here as well as just about any automotive things excluding batteries and antifreeze/coolant. Attendants are very helpful if you have questions about where things go.
This is an essential to our environment. The negative reviews posted about the good folks that run this facility are unwarranted. These are hard working men and women who have rules that apply to ALL who use this PUBLIC SITE. Those who complain should move to a third world country where you have to navigate thru the garbage to get where you want to go.
This place has in inadequate staff that cant call for dumpsters to be swapped out in timely manner. Everytime I have come to the dump site at least 75 percent of the dumpsters are full. What is the point in a convience site, when it is not convenient to have to haul my garbage back to my house because they people can not do their job effectively. Almost every trash site in Carteret County is nasty, Hibbs road is the most vile place I Have ever had to take waste to. And I have been to a lot of other states dumps sites in my time. There is no sense in urgency with this company to get there dumpsites cleaned up and running more efficiently. Time for another company to take over if these people cant get it together.
The place was definitely easy to use and the gentlemen were helpful to tell me where things needed to go. I was a little upset that I couldn't put my lawn waste in the dumpster in the brown bags. I had to dump all of them out. That's the only thing I really didn't like. Didn't cost me anything to get rid of some yard waste and household trash. They also take metal scrap, recyclables, and bulky items
Brought a bag of yard waste to the W. Firepower Rd. Facility - three dumpsters closed up at 9 am. Unable (I'm a 70 yrs old, 5 ft female) to hoist the bag I was told to bring my garbage home and come back another time. When,?? I asked! This is not an isolated incident for me! You get absolutely no assistance at this facility, just negative comments. We pay tax dollars for no customer service!
Why even waste money on keeping this place open?? I borrowed my neighbors truck to dump 3, 5-gallon buckets of scrap wood but was turned away. I was told that I wasnt allowed to dump to wood because my neighbors truck has his business' logo on the doors. So now I have to load my CAMARO up with scrap wood just to dump. This is absolutely ridiculous. I have used my neighbors truck many times before to dump stuff here and have never had an issue until today. Can someone please explain this nonsense.
This location is well kept up. Safety first! It is practiced at this location by staff and management. It shows. The bins and materials are kept in an orderly fashion. A large placard at the entrance suggests checking with the attendant to ensure that the materials to be dropped off are placed in the correct bin.
All types of materials are taken here – from oils to carpets to plastics, glass and more. If you have questions about an item then call ahead. It is easy and convenient to reach from Highway 58. During the tourist season take extra time to get there. Even the tourist season does not seem to swell the numbers of people using the site.
I like to go to this location to remove any heavy waste we have – like carpeting, doors or other construction materials, yard waste and accumulated recycles because it is so quick and convenient. We usually presort before taking off so we can easily move around the medium sized facility to drop off any specialty items. It is rather like a construction site so dress appropriately with non-skid shoes if possible. Children and pets should be kept within the vehicle.
