Worth a stop.Good material to mine and the mineral displays were rare, outstanding quality and educational. Limited personnel to operate so they're not open every day, just weekends at the moment. Stop in and say hello. Nice and peaceful location nestled along McKinney MINE road.Don't blink! You'll miss it!

What a refreshing and educational afternoon! Barbara took the time to separate and label our treasures that we found in our bucket. It's nice to know that there are still non-commercialized small mines still operating that provides individual attention.

Very entertaining and educational for all ages. Get one on one attention and tutorial on what you find in your bucket ($). We learned so much and had alot of fun!

Miss Barbara was great! She not only separated the gemstones into separate labeled baggies, But she explained what each rock was and what rock family they belong in. She was super cool and her jewelry and stones in her store are amazing too! Had a great time and will recomend it to my friends and who ever reads this review!

We had an amazing time here! The owner is super informative and sorts them out for you at the end and labels it for you in bags! The prices a really good and you find a lot more then you would down the road.

Wonderful experience from start to finish! We brought a 5 and 9 y/o and they had an absolute blast searching for gems. Barbara provides a very intimate experience that you can’t find with the more commercialized mining operations. She is very knowledgeable about all of the gemstones and explains how to differentiate between the ones that look similar. We ended up leaving with an overflowing quart size ziplock bags of a huge variety of stones- large and small. Fantastic experience! With this being a smaller operation I would recommend calling before you head out to make sure Barbara didn’t have to run an errand :)

Emeralds are one of my favorite gems so that does help as to why I really enjoy this place. It is hidden in the beautiful mountains of NC but not to hard to find. It is seasonal and gets pretty busy during season. I love the history of the place and also the atmosphere. It's a really laid back but also very fun and informational. Rocks and minerals have always been an interest of mine so I really enjoy the mines. It's fun for all ages from kids to adults and the price ranges arent bad at all for such an amazing experience.
