What an absolute NIGHTMARE this company is. The state troopers called this company for a tow after specifically saying we needed someone with travel trailer experience. The state troopers assured us they would get the right tow company. They also stated the cost would be $250-270. Byrds showed up and immediately stated they couldn’t help but they “knew a guy.” Without our consent or speaking to us regarding cost he called “his guy” to get us a tire. We asked several times what the cost would be but they never gave it to us stating “the tire guy will charge you.” All the while we were working with another company who could help us. When we tried to cancel Bryds as they couldn’t help they responded with well you owe $325 regardless. When asked why they stated because we called them and that’s their fee whether they can help or not. Our camper at this point was unhooked. We told bryds we didn’t want them touching our camper. They had “their guy hook it up and bring it to the gas station WITHOUT OUR CONSENT!!!!!! They then stated the charge was $650 as we had to pay the second tow company as well. They knew we were from out of state and were at their mercy. We did call 911 and had assistance from the sheriffs. DRIVERS BEWARE OF THIS SCAM OF A COMPANY!!!

My daughter was involved in an accident when the box truck they were pulling crossed the center lane and struck our vehicle. They claim they were stopped and hooking the truck up from an accident. The accident was not even on the same road! They didn’t hook it up correct and it was running half across the center line as they were pulling it down the road. My daughter was lucky to have just side swiped it and not head on! If they were working on it as claimed, no flares, no hazard signs and bright head lights to blind oncoming traffic. When calling the garage, there was no compassion. I was answered with hostility, accusations and inconsistencies. Very unprofessional and not trust worthy. Cell phone gps records don’t lie and will prove their story is false!

Byrd's Garage was called by the local Sheriff's office to help our son who was stranded on I95 on the way back to Richmond after visiting his father in Florida for Thanksgiving. The price they quoted was less than 1/2 of the first tow company that was contacted. Anton was very kind and patient and was actually able to get my son's car back on the road that night (Saturday after Thanksgiving)! We're so very thankful for the assistance Byrd's garage offered and God forbid we ever need a tow company in their area again, we'll definitely give them a call.

Bryds garage is a business that we use to service our 1999 Freight liner Truck. Bryd as he's known by is one of the best mechanics we know. If Bryd can't fix it then I guess the junk yard would be your next option. You go Bryd.

BYRD'S GARAGE WAS CALLED BY THE LOCAL POLICE ON 7-18-16 TO PULL ONE OF OUR TRUCK/TRAILER COMBOS OUT OF THE DITCH IN HALIFAX, NC. THE TRAILER HAD AN 8X12 STORAGE BUILDING LOADED ON IT. WE ARE A TRUCKING COMPANY LOCATED 2 HOURS FROM HALIFAX, NC AND DID NOT KNOW WHO TO CALL IN THIS SITUATION. THEY CAME OUT, SPENT NO MORE THAN 2 HOURS WITH THE WHOLE PROCESS, CHARGED US $2250.00 FOR TOWING, $1610.00 FOR LABOR, $100.00 FOR 1 NIGHT STORAGE AND A 5% CONVENIENCE FEE OF $198.00 FOR USING A CREDIT CARD TO PAY. TOTAL CHARGES WERE $4158.00. KNOWING THAT WE WERE IN A BIND AND HAD TO PAY WHATEVER FEES THE COMPANY INVOICED, WE WERE GROSSLY OVERCHARGED. WHEN WE SPOKE WITH THE OWNER OF THE GARAGE THE NEXT DAY, 7-19-16, WHEN WE WENT AND PICKED THE DISABLED TRUCK UP OURSELVES, HE INFORMED US THAT THEY WOULD BRING THE TRAILER BACK TO OUR LOCATION THE NEXT MORNING FOR AN ADDITIONAL $1100.00. WE AGREED TO THE PRICE AND LOOKED FOR THE DRIVER THE NEXT DAY, 7/20/16. NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP AND WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF ANY REASON. I CALLED THE OWNER AGAIN ON 7/20/16 WHEN THE DRIVER DID NOT SHOW UP AND WAS TOLD THEY "DIDN'T HAVE TIME AND WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BRING THE TRAILER BACK UNTIL MONDAY, JULY 25, 2016". HE ASKED ME THEN IF WE HAD A "LIFT" TO GET THE TRAILER OFF OF HIS TRUCK WHEN HE GOT HERE WITH IT, I INFORMED HIM WE DID NOT HAVE A LIFT ONLY SMALL FORKLIFTS. HIS PRICE OF $1100.00 INCLUDED UNLOADING THE DAMAGED TRAILER HIMSELF WHEN HE GOT HERE WITH IT. I ALSO TOLD HIM WE WERE NOT PAYING ANY FURTHER STORAGE FEES FOR THE TRAILER AND HE AGREED SAYING THEY WOULD NOT CHARGE ANY MORE STORAGE FEES FOR THE TRAILER. WHEN THE DRIVER SHOWED UP AT OUR LOCATION ON 7-25-16, HE HAD NO MEANS OF UNLOADING THE TRAILER. WE HAD TO SEND SEVERAL OF OUR EMPLOYEES WITH SEVERAL OF OUR OWN FORKLIFTS TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT A WAY TO UNLOAD THE DAMAGED TRAILER OURSELVES, EVEN THOUGH THIS SERVICE WAS SUPPOSEDLY INCLUDED IN THE $1100.00 TOWING CHARGE. THE DRIVER RAN OUT OF DIESEL FUEL WHILE ON OUR LOCATION AND WE HAD TO SUPPLY HIM WITH ENOUGH DIESEL FUEL TO FILL HIS TANK ENOUGH TO MOVE HIS TRUCK. AFTER THE WHOLE ORDEAL WAS OVER, AND OUR OWN EMPLOYEES HAD TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO UNLOAD THE TRAILER THE DRIVER CAME TO THE OFFICE TO COLLECT ON THE INVOICE. HIS INVOICE WAS FOR $1300.00, STATING THAT THERE WAS AN ADDITIONAL $200.00 CHARGED FOR "STORAGE FEES". I HAD SPECIFICALLY BEEN TOLD BY THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY, ON 7/20/16, THAT WE WOULD NOT BE CHARGED ANY ADDITIONAL FEES FOR STORAGE. THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THEY WERE TRYING TO CHARGE AN ADDITIONAL FEE OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT IT WAS FOR STORAGE. WE REFUSED TO PAY THE ADDITIONAL $200.00 AND INSTEAD REACHED A COMPROMISE AND PAID THEM $50.00, IN ADDITION TO THE $1100.00 AND $4158.00 FOR TOWING, FOR 1 EXTRA NIGHT STORING OUR TRAILER. THIS COMPANY'S IDEA OF STORING OUR EQUIPMENT WAS TO DROP IT IN A FIELD, NOT FENCED IN, LEAVING THE VEHICLE UNLOCKED OVERNIGHT. WE WERE TOLD, AFTER PAYING THESE EXTROADINARY AMOUNTS THAT WE SHOULD NO LONGER SEEK THIS BUSINESS OUT FOR ANY SERVICES IN THE FUTURE. WE ASSURED THEM THAT THEIR SERVICES WOULD NEVER BE REQUIRED BY US AGAIN AND THE DRIVER EXITED OUR OFFICE BY ACCUSING US OF LYING AND SLAMMING THE DOOR ON HIS WAY OUT. THIS DRIVER STATED THAT HE WAS THE OWNER OF BYRD'S GARAGE!! I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE HAD A MORE UNPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE THAN WHAT WE HAD WITH BYRD'S GARAGE LOCATED IN ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC. IT IS MY SINCERE HOPE THAT THEY RECONSIDER THE MANNER IN WHICH THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THAT FUTURE CUSTOMERS ARE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND NOT CHARGED THESE INCREDIBLE FEES FOR SERVICE THAT LEAVES SO MUCH TO BE DESIRED. I FEEL THAT WE WERE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE INCIDENT AND THE WAY IN WHICH WE WERE TREATED AND CHARGED. THIS BUSINESS WAS UNFAIR IN THE DEALINGS OUR COMPANY HAD WITH THEM AND WE FEEL IT IS ONLY FAIR TO WARN OTHER POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS WHAT THEY CAN EXPECT IF THEY CHOOSE THIS PLACE OF BUSINESS FOR SERVICES. WE PAID $5308.00 FOR TERRIBLE SERVICE.

While driving our 31-foot RV on 95 near Enfield, we got a flat on our inside tandem tire. It was a Saturday night and absolutely no one else was open or could help us. Byrds answered the phone at 10pm but wasn't able to get to us that night due to customers before us. In the morning we called again and they showed up an hour later with a workshop truck. They got to work right away and replaced our flat with the spare that we had stored. It really felt like a miracle because it seemed like we would have been stuck there all Sunday. They did good work and were nice guys. If you need help in an RV, give them a try.

Over-all, terrible experience! 1st - I got a flat tire on HWY 158 about 10 miles away from Byrd's Garage and simply needed someone with tools to help me put my spare tire on. When the employee from Bird's Garage showed up, I found out he did not bring any tools with him. He said the only option would be to tow me to their shop and change the tire there for $250. Since it was 3:30am, and Byrd's was the only company willingly to come out at that time, I was in a pickle, and said ok. 2nd - The employee drove 75mph on the 45 and 55mph roads back to their shop (my wife who was with me was also pregnant). 3rd - The employee did not bring keys to the shop with him, so he spent the next 25 minutes trying to find tools to take my tire off. The tool he ended up using didn't fit into my wheels, so he ended up using a hitch to hammer the socket wrench into my wheels around the lug nuts (needless to say, ruined my custom rims). 4th - The employee backed my car off into a mud puddle. If he backed the tow truck up 2 more feet, he would not have backed my car into a mud puddle. I had to put the muddy flat tire in my clean trunk. 5th - I called the Owner of Byrd's Garage the next day to discuss the issue, and all he did was defend his employee, never apologizing once. I took pictures of this employees in-competencies (i.e. the mud and ruined rim), and sent them to the Owner per his request. At which point he said he would view them and get back to me. He never responded back to me. I tried contacting him twice more and never got a response. This may be the worst experience with a company I've ever had! Mr Owner - If you would like to discuss further my email is kevingareis1 at gmail
