I LOVE THIS PLACE! The folks that work here are friendly and have always been helpful and patient and there is always some little treasure I find in the brass bin while I’m there getting paid to drop off my junk! Thank You for making the scrap yard fun!
I don't get this place. It's apparently one price for everything you bring, Copper, steel, and aluminum are all the same. No signage.
Also a good place to get a flat tire, like I did. 12 pieces of metal in one tire and 15 in the other. That made for a very expensive trip. I won't bother going again. The only positive was that the guy in the office was friendly.
I would not recommend this place to anyone because they do mess with the weights. I got screwed around a 100 pounds. For how many times I did went there.
Tried recycling for the first time at this establishment. The staff wasn't very helpful or informative, but I had traveled two hours away, lured by the rumored better scrap prices at this yard.
Here is the breakdown of my transaction for #1 copper and e-waste (they don't separate e-waste as low pop boards vs hi pop boards, they pay at one price) If you have hi pop boards with gold your better off going someplace else., but they do take e-waste which is a welcome change from most yards that don't.
For #1 copper spot price they paid today Aug 15 2024 was 3.4$ per pound with copper closing today at 4.11$ per pound. I do realize they are a business and make their cut to be profitable. I just feel the higher price hype of this yard is possibly just hype. They may pay better for other materials, I only brought e-waste and #1 copper today. The overall percentage they skim for #1 copper is 17.3% This is a fair number but not hype-worthy too myself personally too justify gas cost and deliver long distance.
Everyone is always friendly and it's a great place for artists to find materials as long as you follow the rules and stay out of the way of the workers.
It’s nice to be able to recycle metals and get rid of them. The problem is it costs more in time and gas to bring anything there. They are not paying close to what the market value of steel is. Literally pennies on the dollar. I get they need to make a profit but the difference of what they pay and the value of the metal doesn’t match up.
Great guys (and lady )- My son is a copper artist and he has a scrap bucket- my neighbors said this was the place to take it- 40 min drive from where we live- first time selling scrap- Austin was great- his dad's business - Mark- and Austin treated it like it was his- super nice- I hope my son carries on the family name as well- Explained the process and walked me through it- and a lot of cool items in there they've collected over the year. well worth the trip!
It's a different experience then other recycling because the staff helps you unlike other places you have to carry and dump your stuff staff here is really nice also I saw a medium size black bear crossing road it was awesome really really awesome
Very friendly, patient and accommodating. Always a good experience (except when I dropped the money on the ground one time lol.) customer service is as good if not better than advertised.
I switched 5 years ago to Asheville Metal Recycling from Biltmore Iron. AFTER TODAY I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!! The experience I had with the male that weighed my brass would not look at me in the face or speak to me. I even asked questions! He made me feel like I was a bug under his shoe. I even asked the male with him a question. Neither responded!!!!!!! However, THEY COULD SPEAK TO EACH OTHER!! I was the only customer there. Asheville Metal Recycling lost a customer of 5 years!!!!!!!! I will never return and I will tell everyone I met how Asheville Metal Recycling made me feel!!!!!
Great place, have been taking our scrap metal here for years. Really like how you drive thur. Always someone to help and friendly workers. Really nice people. Easy to get in and out.
First time and last time I'll go to this place. There is literally zero signage or instructions on what to do. I pulled in and had an option to go left or straight. I went straight cause...50/50? Stopped on the scale and then someone started waving me to keep going. That was the last of the help I received. I had absolutely no idea where to go or what to do. There were a bunch of people who looked like employees walking around who wouldn't even make eye contact. Clearly no one wanted to assist. After a couple of minutes of utter confusion I pulled back out and left. How on earth is this place so highly rated?
Drove straight over to the old reliable blue ridge recycling and got it all done in less time that I spent confused at this place.
Mark and the guys are good people. Prices are competitive and they will answer any questions you have.
This is my scrapyard of choice. I drive 45 min, and pass three different recyclers to do business here. Almost forgot to mention it's indoors. Traffic gets a little tight sometimes but everything is right in front of you so you know exactly what is going on. Love it!!!!
One thing I like about going here is you can unload your truck inside when it's bad weather. Don't have to get out in the mud etc. Also no traffic issues on Caribou rd.
Everybody at Asheville Metal is very nice been coming here for years the staff is very helpful also I want to give a shout out to Cody and Mark they've always treated me with respect and dignity thank you very much and God bless you guys
I go no where else. I adore the staff. I actually feel like family. There are some special folks that work there. Their prices are compatible to other sites.
First time being there. Unfamiliar with the place and procedures. Finally got things done, collected $14 for my 500 lbs. and found a large sheet metal screw in the middle of the tread of my brand new Michelin. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be back.
Love going here, they help you get top dollar for everything you bring unlike most other places around here. Sometimes it's a wait to get weighed out. Everything is in doors so you don't have to unload in the rain. They do have dumpsters, they don't do free car pickup anymore but they do have people who will tow them and let you pay them when the vehicle is sold. They will keep your ID on file so you don't have to show them every time you sell if you would like. You can also browse and buy car parts as well as the scrap pile. They also some times do have used tires depending on cars they've bought recently
Recently went here for the first time, and was beyond impressed. Mark was the one that greeted me, and explained where to go and how it worked very well. The prices were the very good as well. Glad to have found my new go to place for metal recycling.
I like how you are inside and out of the element's.They keep it clean for the place that it is in results I've never gotten a flat tire whale driving my truck in there.The operator's are very aware there for never have hit my truck.They always help unload what I have and respect my truck.I'm am always happy and pleased whin I leave there.Evan if I don't leave rich
