From my first call with Darrell (spelling doesn't count) through picking up my car about 8 days later, this place was first rate. Though it's hard to single out any one individual, kudos go to Travis and Melinda (with whom I had most contacts).
My vehicle looked like new when I got it back! I can't say thank you enough to Rice's.
And while the techs did a great job, a couple of them said Melinda makes it all run like clockwork!!!
Darrell came out to tow my car, thought it was the transmission but there were bigger problems. I tried to pay and he wouldn't let me. His wife Melinda was also very helpful in the process. Good, honest people.

I recently had my car repaired at Rice's towing. They were able to get my car in for an appt on short notice, and considering everything that needed to be done, it only took 2 days. At other places, they kept my car for over a week, cost more, and didn't even fix the problem-which is how I ended up here. Also, as a woman, they made me feel comfortable and taken care of. Not always the case at other mechanics, so I definitely appreciated that. Thank you!

I was traveling out of town and my car started to overheat such a scary experience. Someone recommended Rice's and I am so glad they did. Having car problems is hard but having car problems in an unfamiliar place is so much worse! Thankfully Rice's took us in and fixed my car. I can't thank them enough. Waited over 2 hours when they said they were otw . No call or anything.
Then they forced my car into neutral.
When they were unloading it back home.
Again I waited for over 2 hours to return my car with no courtesy.
I really don't think he even checked my car. And therr was an open paperclip on the positive post of my battery.
Very unprofessional.
Might be good with older cars but doesn't know a thing about the newer cars.
But on the bright side I thank got a very good flashlight out of the fiasco.
They might not charge much but your car isn't safe with them.
By far one of the best experiences I have had! I will forever use and recommend Rice’s to everyone. Estimated a 30 minute wait time, and were there in less time, got my car loaded up super fast and even got it into their shop the same day! Tim at Rice's towing was awesome! I was on the side of 240 with a seized caliper and called him up for a tow after the first place I tried did not pick up. He said he could be there in 45 minutes and then he showed up in 30 - when does that ever happen?
He was also super nice. He didn't treat me any differently despite having out of state tags and the rate he charged was extremely reasonable. I've paid 2.5x that amount before for much slower and less friendly service.
He gave me a ride to the shop and was an easy going conversationalist. I learned on the way that Rice's is a family business that's been around since 1944, which I think is both cool and impressive.
I've never had a positive experience getting a tow before and so I was pretty shocked at how smoothly everything went and what a decent mood I was in after leaving the shop. 10/10 would recommend their towing service to anyone in AVL. I'm actually thankful that the first company didn't pick up the phone!
I have been bringing my car to rices towing for a little over a half a year now to get my car worked on and hands down this is this best shop!! I highly recommend bringing your car here for any services you need done. They are great at what they do. Everytime I have brought my car it has basically been done the next day or a few days later. They are definitely quick with getting your car fixed!! Definitely give them a call if you need anything done on your car
After calling a bunch of places in town, Tim from Rice's was the first to pick up. I locked myself out of my car and immediately thought the worst (get it towed to the dealership, cut and program a new key fob...) which would have cost me an arm and a leg. In less than 30 min Tim was able to work his magic and get into my car, saving me hundreds of $$$. Highly recommend this service, great and professional.
After calling quite a few other tow companies that were closer to my location, I finally reached Tim at Rice's Towing and although he couldn't help me right away, he got me in touch with Darrell who came to my rescue in less than 30 minutes! He was so polite and understanding and so very informative. I would absolutely recommend this service to anyone in the Asheville area.

Got it safe and sound to my destination, which was another state, called me and told me who my contact was and who had the keys. Perfect, smooth transaction. I busted a brake line and needed a tow. I called Rice's and Tim was there in less than 15 minutes. He was extremely polite and knew exactly where he was going. I had it towed to a shop where I could fix it myself, but had I needed a mechanic I would have sent it Rice's shop and allowed them to repair it. I work in the automotive industry and know the importance of a good tow truck driver, and will definitely be calling Rice's again. The rates are congruent with the industries typical price, which is somehow rare these days.
Rice's towing was fantastic. I needed to have my vehicle towed to the shop for repair work.
I called in the morning, he answered promptly, provided a simple estimate and let me know his best case scenario timeline as far as when he could pick it up (which was only about an hour after I called).
He called me back when he was on his way and gave me an updated time about when he'd be arriving, and showed up right on time. He was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Its always good to work with someone who clearly knows what he's doing. The cost was exactly what he estimated, which was about 25% less than what I was expecting to pay. Then he was able to run my card from his truck, and we were on our way.

This is my second time getting a tow for Rice's and once again I am impressed by the speed and professionalism. My car broke down in the middle of the road so I called Rice's and got Tim, he said he could get to my location as about 30 minutes which was perfectly reasonable ,but once I told him I was stuck in the road he got there in 10 minutes. Probably the fastest tow I've ever gotten. Tim was very friendly and professional. I would recommend Rice's Towing & Recovery Inc over any towing company in Asheville. Reasonable prices and fast service every time.
I placed the call to get my vehicle towed at around 1030 am on a very rainy, busy day and the driver called me back almost immediately. He was very friendly and professional. He was honest and told me he would do his best to get my car from the dealership it was located at as soon as he could but it may be tomorrow due to the weather and being covered up with other jobs. He called me back at 2 pm and my vehicle was at its location. I feel like he worked hard to take care of my issue despite the weather and busy circumstances. The price was WAY lower than other people I've used so I was very impressed!!!
Tim was very nice as well as very professional. When I first called.him, he was in the middle of serving another customer. He said that he would call me back as soon as he finished. This is exactly what he did. He also called me after he delivered my van to the dealership. It was so refreshing to have someone keep their word and promptly return a customer’s phone call. Hopefully, it will be a while before I need to have my van towed anywhere again but I will definitely use Rice’s Towing .
When my car broke down on I-40 I called Rice's towing and recovery because they were the only 24 hour service that I was able to find on google and it was after 5pm.
Tim wasted no time getting to my location and was kind and courteous for the duration of the trip back to the shop. Once I arrived at the shop the gentleman working on a car, stopped what he was doing and quickly diagnosed my problem. The staff made the best of a stressful situation and were kind enough to let me keep the car on the lot without charge until I figured out what I was going to do with it. Everyone was very friendly and understanding. The towing rate is also very reasonable.
Had an excellent expirience, I popped my tire very late was just getting dark had my 2 year old nice with me. They said it would be a 4 hour wait but once they heard I was alone and was gonna be walking they were there in 15 minutes. Couldn't have been any more nice or professional then they were. I'm bad with names but I believe the man who helped me was named Tim. He was amazing and very kind. Very reasonable price, will definitely be calling them again.
I needed a tow and to find out why my car wouldn't start. They warned me that there were a couple of calls ahead of me. To my surprise Tim called an hour later to say he was on the way. Less than 30 minutes after taking my car, they called to tell me it was something simple and I could come get it the same day. I am impressed with their speed and professionalism. I had a flat tire in a very busy, tight intersection on 240 on Sat evening. I called 8 towing services and none of them would come help me...then I called Rice’s Towing. Tim (I’m pretty sure was his name) was so kind on the phone and said he could come right away and he was there in 10 minutes. It was too dangerous to try to change the tire on the road so he towed me to a tire repair place close to my house. He was so helpful and professional and made sure I was safe. I can’t thank him enough! I recommend Rice’s Towing 100%.
Called him up around 9 am the morning of Christmas Eve and he showed up within 20 minutes of me placing the call. Local and knowledgeable, I didn’t even have to give him the address, he knew exactly where I was trying to have my car dropped off at.
He asked me if I needed a ride and I ride with him the 8 mile journey. A wonderful family man, I enjoyed our conversation as we talked about family and the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season.
A reasonable price allowed me to leave a tip too.

Called Rice's early on Sat. Was greeted nicely and told they could tow my car within the hour. Ended up towing to their repair shop, where the owner spent his Saturday replacing the fuel pump in my car. They deducted the towing cost from the repair price which was awesome. Got my car back 6 hours after calling them, fully functional again. I felt the cost was very reasonable especially considering how fast he did it and it being the weekend. Looking at the average price for a fuel pump replacement, this was definitely lower. Overall my experience with them was excellent. I will most certainly use them again.
