At a certain point im just mad at myself for even giving them a chance. If you get there and Renel is working, call the kids and tell them you won't be home for dinner. It took 2 hours to install a single tire. I ordered a tire online and picked it up. I said I know i dont have an appointment, I can get it installed somewhere else if they can't do it today, its no big deal. The guy told me it was fine but it might take an hour to get to.
An hour goes by and Renel says he won't do it because I dont have an appointment. He walks away mid conversation, talks to the supervisor, comes back and says yeah he can't do it and walks away again. Meanwhile its been over an hour at this point.
I talk to the supervisor and ask him and he says dont worry it'll get done. They never checked my car in, left the old tire in my back seat and didn't even put a valve stem cap on the new tire. Do I trust it was even put on properly or balanced? Absolutely not. "Expert installation" is scarily inaccurate at this point.
It was never an issue, I completely understood i didn't have an appointment and would have gone somewhere else. Instead I got talked down to, waited 2 hours for a single tire (that im not even confident was done correctly) and am worried ill be charged twice after they tried ringing it up again after the fact (the online order already said picked up). What an awful experience.
Got my tires installed today very impressed with the service had to wait a little which I didn’t mind because the employee Ricardo communicated very well just drove 40 highway miles and no issues thank you
Very very Inexperienced mechanics, took more than 2 hours to install tires. They lost two of my lug nuts and then gave me a used one. Very very unorganized workplace. Mechanics seemed like they don’t know what they are doing. Struggling to remove tires from the rims and installing to the tires to the rim. They over stretched the tire to put in the rims. They were trying to force the tire in the rims. Very untrained and not familiar with the machine. They had to try multiple times to install the tires in the rims. Would never want to go to this location. Tires don’t feel right in the car. Most likely have to remove and re install the tires again with an experienced tire shop. Waste of time and money at this Walmart tire shop
Place is completely empty everyone one is standing around no cars and they tell me no oil change without and appointment... been sitting here to see if any work comes nothing sure wish I could post a picture of the empty bays and the guys standing around talking
The best and the fastest service! Whenever I need maintenance on my car i make sure to come here. Every single person that works in the auto shop is so kind, helpful and friendly. The cashier ringing me up saw me in the aile and asked if I needed help finding something, I knew what I was looking for but I appreciated the gesture. Then he complimented me on actually knowing what items I needed for the model and make of my car.
The gentleman that always takes down the information to process the service is always in a good mood even if he's having a bad day, loves to make conversation with customers a very friendly person.
I bought replacement windshield wipers but i didnt know how to change them, my dad always did it for me but he passed away not to long ago but, the gentleman that changed my oil taught me how to change out my windshield wipers, I was so happy with my experience here, that's why this particular walmart auto shop in islandia, I will drive a few extra miles to go to.
I've had bad experiences with the auto shop in lake grove/Centereach. I got there 2 hours before they closed and they told me I could wait 2 hours or come back another day, I couldn't come back I was lucky to be able to squeeze it into my busy schedule that day so when I told them I can wait they said "no, you'll need to come back a different day" why even say that and give me an option to wait if your going to deny me service after just taking the car infront of me and you don't close for another 2 hours... I was very upset.
But at this auto shop in islandia, even if they are busy they give me a heads up but never turn my business away. They truly are amazing.
Made an appointment 2 weeks ago. I show up at 8:45 for a 9am appt. Scotty checks me in and is clearly overwhelmed with how the day is going, complaining about how theres not enough techs here, its too busy, ect... At 10:10 my car isn't even in the shop. I ask a tech what's going on, and he tells me I'll be done in 45 mins. It's now 10:50, and I see 1 tire done. Im not a mechanic, but i have worked on cars enough to know this tech is moving extremely slow. I expect to get out of here in another 45 mins... why bother making an appointment. No respect for customers time. I don't know how many more times I can walk around the store.
Why can I leave a 0 star review. These people are the rudest creatures I’ve ever met. I ordered tires online and made a reservation for installation. They cancelled my appointment without letting me know. I called 5 times they put me on hold 3 times and never got back to me. I called and asked to be transferred to the auto care center the lady straight up hang up on me. She was talking to me with an attitude.
Been here a few times and they messed up by not putting enough oil twice. I had to buy extra.
And I’m here now and it’s 6pm hours on door and site say 7 but they’re closed up
Even if you make your appointment and come a little early, you will still have to wait 2 hours for an oil change. Understaffed but they are working hard here.
I went there around 6:40 and they said we are closed and their manager or supervisor with glasses came and she said same thing even their closing time is 7pm
I had such a wonderful experience here! The staff (Jessica + Valerio ) were very accommodating and helpful. The mechanics (Christian) saw me right away and I was done in under an hour. They did a great job with my tires and even put some air in them. I highly recommend coming here and will be back!
Helped bring my mothers car in for new tires. The service manager and staff were super helpful and also identified possible issues and even helped out by offering an oil change when they checked the oil. Really great experience and super friendly and helpful crew!!
Also heard from other customers how good their tire guys are there as I was making a same day appointment!
I would give zero stars if I could. Went here after Commack Walmart Auto Center made my car shake like crazy with a bad balance on 4 new tires. Corporate office said I could wait to be contacted, or go to another service center. I called the Islandia store, explained my situation, was given the go ahead by a manager on the phone, but when I got there, the manager was gone and no direction had been given to the auto center. I showed the tire center my receipt, and my car was taken in. There seemed to be an understanding that I had ALREADY PAID, therefore the work should be comped. After I had waited nearly two hours, I was told "I'm sorry but we have to charge you or we can't give you back your keys." This was completely dishonest. You don't wait until after the customer has no way to make a decision to tell this to them. Now I've paid for this service twice and I'm still waiting for the store manager to contact me. I urge anyone that reads this to avoid this place at all costs. As a former retail manager, I see this as a failure to train and empower their managers to take care of the customer. Everybody passes the buck here.
edit: Upon leaving the tire center, I noticed my ABS and TCS lights on. As I only use this car to get to the train station, I left it be for a while. I took it to Firestone to have the wheel bearing hub fixed again, but that wasn't it. They (Walmart employee, probably the terrible manager) cut the wire that goes to my wheel speed sensor. As you can see in the photo, it was clearly and intentionally cut. It's two wires, clean through.
Zero stars if I could, the representative at the auto care center desk was rude and condescending. He did not like that I was early for my appointment and gave me wrong information about canceling my service. Please read the other reviews, this place does not care about your business.
The manager Jean always goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to customers. I was very happy with their service although they were quite busy and I had to wait a while but def worth the time. I highly recommend them for oil changes and tire. Tim Larkin
P-E-R-F-E-C-T! My second time here and the service is flawless..The negative reviews were from previous employees who no longer work here. David and Gene are two of the friendliest, lovable guys you will ever meet. What I like most about this particular Walmart is that when the other Walmarts say "we're closing," or "we're booked solid," (I go after work) David and Gene welcome me and my Prius with open arms. They NEVER turn me away. I'm calling the store manager this morning to tell him how pleased I was. THANK YOU!
This place is so bad!! Let me tell you why.I had to come back to this place 3 times within a WEEK because all auto shops were stacked, And I had Walmart tires. The first time I spoke to the guy at the reception he told me pull up with my car and drop the tire off,So I did and there was no cars what so ever!! I went and shopped around thinking my car was done. WRONG they moved my car out the way and started working on other cars! I asked why they moved my car nobody had a answer for me or was trying to figure out why. So now I come back like two days later lol and the guy that assist you has something wrong with him (keep and mind I have nothing against special people I love that they get to work) but this guy will grab your info and then just walk away and not tell you what to do.He did that every time I came there and to other people as well. I ask him what do I do next and he just ignores you and walks into the bay and starts eating. So I then ask again after I waited for him for 15 minutes and he saids just drop the key off and place it on there took box .. they’re so in organized here don’t come here not worth it.
The worst experience ever. The manager David refused to repair my flat tire when I arrive 5:15 pm (even though the Tire center closes at 7pm) According to him they have 4 cars in front of me, and each car was going to take 1 hour to do it. First lie, the first two cars were oil changes, and they finished them very quick. I decided to stay and wait to see if they will make room to fix my car. I observed one of the employees fixed 3 cars in the same time David did only one. I wait 1 hour 45 min total just to find out they weren’t going to fix my flat tire. David refused to help me even though I was patiently waiting for such a long time. I felt customer service is non existent, he kept playing with the time and taking more time than necessary with the only car he fixed in almost 2 hours just to avoid fixing mine. After 5 pm they don’t want to take any more cars and they keep saying to the customers come another day or get an appointment. My advice, just go to another place to fix your car. They don’t care about the customers and they don’t want to work at the end of the day. I would give zero stars to David if I could.
Horrible service. I arrive and one of the employees send me to customer service inside the store to check the appointment. Then they make me go back because they can’t do anything inside (the worker wanted to go to break so he said that so I would walk away). When I returned they only had 3/4 tires ordered. Finally he took his sweet time to start working and scratched all the rims (like 5-6 inches scratched). If you appreciate your time and effort… don’t go there.
5 stars for David’s service. David has gone above and beyond each time I’ve come to Walmart Auto Center. His customer service exceeds expectations and makes the customer feel like a VIP. Get this man a raise.
The most unprofessional auto care I have seen. I just pulled in at the garage for an oil change and waited for the man to finish an oil change that he was doing. He finished on the car, looked at me, walked right by me trying to pretend I’m not in front of him. I stood there for 20 minutes as him and another mechanic would look at me and ignore me. Finally I asked the guy, is anyone doing oil changes? He ignored me again. At that point I just walked away. Don't go there, they think they are more important than you are.
Took my SUV for an oil change 07/17/19 to Walmart automotive Islandia NY. Manager Mike old and fat white guy all tattooed and piercings said it's Walmart employee policy that no one work when it's 90° degrees outside. Meanwhile it was not 90° and everyone else except this alleged fat and lazy Walmart manager were actually working.
I have also never heard a manager talk so badly about his own employer Walmart to existing customers.
I don't see how Walmart has not fired this employee yet.
Where do I begin ? I got to Walmart at 5 o'clock PM to get tires put on . They didnt start my car until 5:45. The man who worked on my car name is Jean and was working so slow. I didnt get out until 7 PM. I left and drove home and the tire pressure light was on. I was one block away from home. I had to turn back. Once I got back. I told them that my tire pressure light was on. Another boy with his hair dyed with like a yellow tint on the end of his little afro puff, put more air in my tires. I said to them how are you putting air in my tires and your not checking the tire pressure. Then they want to tell me a whole lot of trash because I am a woman. Even tho I am a woman, I know alot about cars. I decided to mavis to check my tire pressure. These idoits put my tire pressure to 39 and my car holds 30. I went back to explain to them that inside cars, it tells you what the psi (tire pressure) should be and that they put my tire pressure to 39 and it was suppose to be at 30. Jean shrugged his shoulders and the other boy with the funny looking hair walked away from me. I will never go to Walmart to buy or get anything done. I rather go somewhere else, pay triple the money and get better customer service then deal with these people ever again. I have been a loyal customer to Walmart but this auto service turned me off. I will never get my car serviced here again nor buy anything here again.
Walmart should be ashamed of themselves. These men are both incompetent and seem miserable. They could care less and they outright let you know. I was treated so rudely I left before they could even perfom the service. Another man who wanted a new tire left as well because he had been standing there for so long and they outright ignored him.
I will never come here again and will be sure to keep spreading the word. May even contact corporate.

I asked the other guy and he looks at me like I asked him who the 7th President of the United States was. He says, ah I don’t think so. ...Nice way to finish my own day after actually working for my paycheck. Don’t go there and waste your time. Who knows what they may do to your car.
Extremely rude and poor service. The service writer will see you waiting to have your information taken and straight up ignore you... This happened to me twice with the same person. He ignored the people in front of me, too, and they eventually left out of frustration. He apparently met someone who was a friend of his or something, because he went outside to put their car in the bay even though I was there first one there..unbelievable. I used to work as a service writer for the very same place about ten years ago, and I'd never be allowed to act in such a manner...The place has gone downhill bigtime.
