I was having a bad day as my tire popped. But this crew turned everything around. With only 30 mins from closing I was received with open arms and was given such great service. The manager treated me with so much respect and kindness. Not only that but he took his time to educate me on some of the issues with my car. I am forever grateful for the bay shore location. They did their thing!

I recommend pep boys auto service & tires a 100% for all ur cars need. Plus excellent costumer service with nice clean environment to relax while u wait on ur vehicle. I must also mention the wait time is very short and the price are very affordable.

If I could give zero I would. Online showed this location having the tires I needed in stock.. get to my appointment and what do you know they don’t have them. Paul says it will take just a few minutes to get them, 40 min later they arrive. After an hour and 20 mins of me being here I go to check out and he says I owe $270… $270?? Online it says with tax and install is $239… and he says well it doesn’t show that in the system… lol… I don’t care what your system says clearly your site says it…. He is apparently the manager but can’t adjust the price so now we wait another 20 minutes for him to get some sort of approval. And now taking another 20 minutes to get some sort of code in… Pep boys in NY is trash I definitely don’t recommend… this is the second one I’ve been to and neither experience has been pleasant. 👎🏻

I previously left a 3-star review, but I’m updating it to 5 stars. Great experience at this Pep Boys location. Paul, the manager, was excellent—very professional and helpful. This store has made a lot of positive changes compared to a couple of years ago, and it really shows. Customer service is much better, and the whole place feels more organized and well-run. I would definitely recommend this location.

I had such a wonderful experience at this location. From the moment I came in Paul was very kind and responsive with my needs. Then I dealt with Brian and Bert for my second appointment and they were also wonderful. I have a fleet vehicle so they made sure I was in and out in a timely fashion, and they worked directly with the fleet company, and I didn’t even have to get involved, which was really nice. I will definitely be back for all of my vehicle’s needs.

I took my truck in for a oil change I also asked if they could check my breaks as well because I was going to be traveling soon they informed me of all the things I should address immediately especially with me traveling Brian told me the price that everything would be which was not cheap at all but he was able to take some money off the total which helped tremendously.. I want to Thank Brian & Ed for great service my truck feels much better now thank you for fantastic service!

Brian was the absolute savior to my experience at this shop and for Pepboys in general. I had went to the Pepboys on Sunrise Highway in Bayshore for an inspection on my car. When I went there they stated that I needed roughly 4000 dollars worth of work in order to pass my inspection. I stated that I would like to get a second opinion and was charged for the inspection just to fail. I then went to the Pepboys on 5th ave as my friend recommended that I go there and to specifically ask for Brian. There was a tall Black man there when I went. He said his name was Paul and that he would happily assist me as Brian was off that day. I very politely told him that I would rather come there when Brian was there, as that is who I was recommended to see. He said Brian does not know as much as him and that he would happily get the job taken care of. I stood my ground and said it is not right to talk down about other employees at your shop. I went back the next day on a wednesday and was greeted by Brian. Brian said that he would get me in for the inspection as soon as a bay opened up and that he would have Burt take a look at the vehicle and see if there was anything of concern. I informed Brian that I had been to another Pepboys and that I had a terrible experience because they failed my car and that I was giving them a second chance only because my friend had praised him so highly. Brian came back into the office with a couple of recommendations as well as pictures of what was causing the vehicle to fail inspection. He also invited me to come look at the car as well so that I could see what he was talking about. Burt showed me that the front pads and rotors should be replaced, but that the rears were completely fine. He also recommended replacing the rear tires on my car as there was some damage to the sidewall and dry rot on my tires. I said I did not have a lot of money to spend on the car, but that I would definitely like an estimate. Brian had already written up the estimate ahead of time, which saved me a lot of time. He stated that he was recommending replacing the tires with Kumho's as they were having a promotion where I would get free installation for the tires. And that he would see what he could do on the brakes for me. I told Brian that I am a first responder and had heard they offered discounts for first responders. Brian applied a coupon from the website for the brakes, took 10% off the rotors, I got my tires installed for free, and the car passed inspection. I only spent 800 dollars to get the car to pass inspection and my car was done within 90 minutes of coming into the shop. I highly recommend coming to this shop. Always ask for Brian, he knows what he is doing. Gets the job done and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. He knows how to talk to customers! If you have to deal with Paul be weary, he kept on checking out this female customer that came into the office and it made her visibly uncomfortable.

I went there to get my Dodge Ram 1500 oil change done. I was given what they called a CVI, free of charge. They were recommending I replace the tires, pads and rotors all around, some suspension work, and the filters. Normally I wouldn't get any of this done, but unlike other shops I have been to in the past, they brought me out into the shop. Showed me the tread depth of my tires, the measurement of my brakes, and how the suspension parts were damaged. They also showed me the filters that they took out of the vehicle. I have never had a shop go into this much detail ever before. Brian is the one service manager that I worked with, and Jeff and Ed were the ones that were working on my vehicle. Brian made sure that I was given a timeframe on when the repairs would be done. And even went into great detail, having the tech even come in and explain anything that he didn't know the complete answer for, about every thing that needed to be done to my vehicle. He explained what should be taken care of immediately, and what could be held off on until a later date. I was informed by Brian that he would price out the parts and get me the best bang for my buck. He went into a lot of detail about the different tires that he could get me for that day. He told me that the tires that he had available for the car at the time were Starfires, Coopers, and Kumhos. He explained the difference in price, and naturally I wanted to go with whatever was cheapest at the time. However Brian quickly and thoroughly explained to me the benefits of the Coopers. While the coopers were more expensive, he explained that they are manufactured by Goodyear, they come with a better treadwear warranty. He explained the breakdown of cost per 1000 miles on each tire, and sold me on the idea of getting roadhazard warranty. I really like the idea that the road hazard is for the lifetime of the tires on the vehicle, and not just a one or two year warranty like you get from online retailers. I will be coming back to this Pepboys whenever I need to come there. They are thorough and great at what they do. They make you feel welcome for sure.

The professionalism and communication from the Assistant manager, Brian, just made me a loyal customer. Whenever I need tires, an inspection or anything at all, I will bring my car to Pep Boys in Brentwood. The service is excellent and quick as well.

On October 30th at 2:09 PM, I brought my car to Pep Boys Auto, store #1480 (1846 5th Avenue, Bay Shore, NY) for a state inspection, Service Work Order #2086265. My car failed inspection because it was missing one rear driver-side lug stud. What’s most disappointing is that neither the technician, Edward F., nor the service manager, Paul Nembhard, said a single word before performing the inspection to inform me that the missing lug stud would cause an automatic failure. If they had simply told me, I could have easily purchased a replacement lug stud elsewhere since one was not available for purchase in-store, which was an inexpensive fix, and avoided failing the inspection altogether. When I asked Paul why they wouldn’t notify me about an issue like this before proceeding, his response was that it “wouldn’t be ethical.” That explanation made absolutely no sense. There is nothing unethical about informing a customer of an issue that will cause their car to fail. What would be unethical is passing the car without the repair, which I never requested or implied. Instead of understanding my point, Paul completely misconstrued my words, repeatedly insisting that I wanted his mechanic to “do something illegal” by passing the vehicle as-is. That was not what I said or meant. I only wanted to be notified of the issue so that I could fix it before it resulted in a failure. To make matters worse, after the failure, I was told I would have to pay an additional $10 for the reinspection once I replaced the lug stud. When I expressed my frustration about the lack of communication that led to this unnecessary cost, Paul’s only response was, “It’s just $10 to get the car reinspected.” That dismissive attitude showed zero concern for my time and money. I even made the analogy that if my windshield wiper was missing, something Pep Boys conveniently sells in-store, any reasonable manager would suggest buying and installing one before failing the inspection. Paul had no answer for that either. On top of everything, I was charged an additional $10 to have the car reinspected at another state approved facility after I resolved the issue myself. This was a cost that could have been avoided entirely had they communicated properly from the start. This entire experience reflected a serious lack of professionalism, poor communication, and a disregard for customer service. I left extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. I will not be returning to Pep Boys Auto, store #1480, and I strongly advise others to take their business elsewhere.

Responsive , Professional. Paul was great, I ordered new tires from an online tire vendor, I had them delivered to Pep boys in Brentwood for installation...... The UPS delivery truck came later than expected, Paul was flexible with the appointment time and got me in and out at a reasonable time. Thank You Paul and the rest of the Pep Boy crew in Brentwood NY

Never bring you car to this shop! Please read my whole experience. I had moved from New York to Illinois due to work promotion, and needed my car to be in top shape for the long drive. Before leaving, I schedule an 8:30am appointment on Saturday at Pep Boys in “Brentwood” actually it is Bayshore area, NY to have my brake pads replaced—my car had no issues, no noises, and was running perfectly. Unfortunately, after they worked on it, I immediately noticed a strange friction sound from the front wheels and horrible shaking whenever I braked. When I went back, this unpolite and rude customer service representative in the front desk told me this was “normal” since I had declined their recommendation to replace the rotors. They said the sound would eventually go away once the pads “adapted” to the bad rotor, and it will not be “a safety issue”, but instead, it only got worse after 50 miles. (They charged me more than $800 only to cause me a major damage) Once I arrived in Illinois, my new neighbor Mike recommended Krafftkare Automotive, saying they were the best in town—and he was absolutely right! The technicians there quickly discovered the real issue: the Pep Boys technician had installed my brake pad in the passenger side backwards, which not only caused the noise but also damaged my rotor in the passenger side. Krafftkare fixed everything the right way, at a fair price, and treated me with honesty and professionalism. My car now drives perfectly thanks to them, and I can’t thank them enough.
