The old fellas down here in the village are so helpful, nice and generous, even when extremely busy, I feel bad that my family’s cars are relatively new and I can’t find ways to get down there and throw more work their way. Interactions with local folks like these are one of those intangible positives which remind you why you moved out of the big city
Had battery issues, locals were little to no help (underlined racism) ($75.00 ticket) I wanted out of that toxic environment and had anxiety when I arrived, got a new battery and have a new mechanic for my new used car

This place is amazing! They were able to see me the same day for an urgent issue and did a perfect job fixing the problem. Other places tried to charge me thousands of dollars for the issue but they came up with easy fixes at a very reasonable rate, just what you want in an auto repair shop. Lots of places try to take advantage but these guys were kind, professional, honest and did an excellent job. This will be my go to spot from now on!
Very helpful, knowledgeable and care about their customers. They truly do honest work. I’ve had several mechanics in the area but south Nyack Automotive is best mechanic in Rockland!
First time customer and they fit me in last minute for an overdue NYS inspection. Nice guys, and they even took it upon themselves to put on my registration. Good to know they're around the corner, I'll be back!
As a "fake mechanic " I normally do as much as I can from brakes suspension exhaust etc...but when things go south I go south nyack automotive. These guys over the years gave been very transparent ,knowledgeable and just great people consistently over the years . Definitely a rare gem of a shop . 5 star my mom and brother also frequented there through the years ,great shop.
I had a horrible experience. They didn't know what was really wrong with y car because they didn't do a thorough inspection and after all of it I still have the same problem I went in with and I was pressured into purchasing something I didn't need. I would like them to fix the problem but they want me to just leave it there for how long they can't tell me and I don't trust that. Needless to say I won't be back and it's unfortunate that money is being made in a dishonest way because they know people need their services.
These guys are scammers! They may know a thing or two about cars, but don't let that steer you in the wrong directions that they "professionals" at their work. They definitely did me wrong and here's my story.
They overcharged me for oil change and belt change and expected me to pick up my car the next day when the maintenance was "fixed." Instead of waiting until the next day, I got dropped off at their shop because their hours of operation was still open. They quickly fluttered when they saw me and spoke very fast of their "professional work" that they had done on my car while they filed me the bill. The cost went from $250 to $310, that was somehow from tax.
But here is the worse part. They did something to my car's engine and the car is barely functional now. Whenever I pressed on the gas pedal, the car would move forward then stopped immediately after 1 second as if there was no gas, and then the car would go forward again after a 2-3 second delay. The most frustrating thing is that my car can no longer go over 40 mph. I can press on the gas pedal all I want to past 40 mph, but the car won't go any faster and the car's speed would drop. The first time it happened to me was when I was crossing the Tappan Zee Bridge (Cuomo Bridge) and I almost caused a big accident because my car lost speed and I could only cruise at 30 mph.
Overall, these "professional" mechanics refused to own up to their mistakes and I ended up doing away with my car. If anything, these guys are professional scammers at best. I was hesitant to write a review, but due to the severity of the damage I had to my car, I want to warn people against these guys because they will overcharge and do you dirt without your notice.
Called them up after my car started to experience issues out of nowhere and they were super helpful. They got me in touch with a tow company and took my car in right after speaking with them and solved the issue quickly. When I came to pickup my vehicle they showed me what was wrong and explained what they did in full detail. Very professional and trustworthy.
This place is very honest and trustworthy. All these mechanics were very nice and took care of my car that nobody could. The dealer said everything had to be changed, but these guys were honest in telling me that not everything needed to be changed and only changed my front brakes.
I called for an estimate. I was given a very fair and straight forward quote because "the job would be really easy." I can't say how refreshing it is to be given a fair and honest estimate from an auto shop. Will definitely recommend these guys to anyone.
Angelo, Greg, Alexis and everybody else that works at S.N.A. is top shelf. No nonsense and thorough explanation of all work. An Honest, Great, Local and Affordable mechanic shop. Plus they like dogs!!
The crew at South Nyack Automotive are friendly, eminently knowledgeable and show a real concern for doing the best for me. Some of my cars are very old and were bought used for very little money. They understand that I am not looking to sink a fortune into the upkeep of these vehicles and will advise me if a repair is not worth doing. At the same time they provide first rate diagnostic and repair services for my cars and keep my late model vehicles in tip top shape.
Angelo & his crew are not only great mechanics, they are great people. He always makes sure that whatever work needs to be done is the only & best solution. Have yet to be disappointed.

I take my car to Angelo because he gets the job done every time, reasonably and economically and every fix lasts. He's fair, truthful and very very funny.
Angelo and his shop are friendly, reasonable, fast, and and experienced. South Nyack Auto proved this to me on three separate occasions. Most recently, my battery died while out of state. I jumped my car, called angelo, drove straight to the shop, and he was ready for me and even got his own hands dirty looking it over. This shop even fixed a problem that was plaguing my truck for two years, despite two trips to the dealership. The truck had a unique "death wobble" in the steering and shocks. Angelo and his team knew exactly what this was and fixed it perfectly and spent the day looking over all other bolts and parts potentially involved. This repair was something even the dealer's service department could not do for me over two years. I highly recommend South Nyack Auto, even if you are from out of town. It is located just blocks from Main Street in Nyack.
