Went for the first weekend March 2026. Booked a 2 hour first timer lesson for 9am because the 12pm slot was full. Got to the Learning Center at 8am from the lodge. The rentals are also in the same building as well as the super duper expensive food court. (2 hot dogs, 1 baked potato with chili topping, 2 drinks = $56). We got our boots, skis, and helmet and made our way to the instructors. They split us up and we were a group of 7. The instructor, Javier or Javi as he said we could call him was amazing! He asked us questions on what type of sports we did and assessed our skill level as he was teaching us. He pushed the faster learners harder while still being attentive to the students who needed more help. We learned to wedge stop and turn and go down in an S trail and went on the bunny hill a few times and the green a couple of times. I 100% recommend Javi for anyone who wants to learn. He was very patient and explained the techniques in a way we could understand. He purposely didnt bombard us with details so that we wouldnt be thinking about too many things at once. The lifts werent too crowded and it was 66 degrees so people were in their T shirts which was cool. Purchasing the rental and the lift ticket with the lesson gave a pretty good discount. Lift ticket was 120 but with the lesson it was only 60. Rental was 85 but with the lesson was only 59. The lesson was 119. Definitely worth it to get the lift ticket and rentals combined with the lesson. You can use the lift ticket all day for the whole mountain. Giving 4 stars, not 5, because of the food court. The prices were egregious.

Big Pharma of Skiing - Long lines and little attention to detail. Felt like a factory assembly line to rent equipment, all staff was very friendly and nice but also felt like I was at an airport. Food was extremely expensive (Duh mountain food) and prices shown on screen do not reflect what you actually pay (illegal) Much much prefer smaller mountains where all staff really really care about your individual experience. Also NO HALF SIZES IN SKI BOOTS??? THE GHETTO OF SKIING!!!!

Went mid-week and had a great day. 100% open including Annpurna and Clair's Way. Great big mountain skiing close to the Metro NY / NJ and Pocono region of Pennsylvania.

The mountain is ok, but the bathrooms are in dire need of updates. Broken locks, peeling paint, no baskets, no hooks. The food portions are incredibly small and the prices are incredibly high. Vail, you need to do better!

Unfortunately, this mountain is financially inaccessible. Far in advance lift tickets for one day are $120 and closer to the same-day lift tickets are $175+. Even for the bunny slopes, you need to pay those same lift ticket prices. Not to mention the additional cost of equipment rentals if needed. This is not affordable for people who are middle class, have families, or are pursuing higher education in adulthood. Skiing, snowboarding, tubing, etc. should not only be accessible to wealthy people. People from all classes and backgrounds should be able to enjoy winter sports. Just for reference, resorts in the mountain time zone region of the U.S. have cheaper prices and far better slope conditions. If this mountain only wants to attract affluent populations, then shame on them.

Pretty good, nice mountain. Good snow coverage, lift lines were not too bad. I would say most of their trails from the top are on the harder side. At the same time they have planty on easy trails with separate lifts.

Has decent number of slopes with varying difficulty level. It gets super crowded in weekend. Avoid weekends or get ready to hike ~1/2 mile with your gears.

Our experience at Hunter Mountain was focused entirely on the slopes, as we did not stay overnight at the resort. This review reflects only what we personally experienced during our ski day. Driving into Hunter was very easy, especially if you are staying at one of the nearby lodgings. We went on a weekday, so the crowds were minimal. If you are brand new to the resort area, the signage could be a bit clearer, but it was nothing unreasonable. After a few wrong turns, we eventually made our way to the Learning Center without much trouble. Our class check in time was 9:00 AM, and we arrived at the suggested time of 8:00 AM. However, staff were not ready to begin processing until around 8:40 AM, which pushed some things back and made us slightly late for our scheduled lesson. That said, because it was a weekday and not crowded, it did not negatively affect our ski day. We were explicitly told by both our instructor and locals that weekends, especially Valentines Day weekend, are extremely busy and book up quickly. If you are planning a weekend visit, I would strongly recommend arriving early and choosing your time carefully. The rental process was very streamlined and honestly went by quickly. Every staff member we encountered was helpful and professional. The highlight of our day was definitely our instructor, Mark. He was personable, asked about our reason for coming, and connected that to how he taught us so we could learn safely and efficiently while maximizing our time. My girlfriend and I learned at different paces. At one point during the lesson, she really started taking off in terms of controlling the skis. She mentioned that she skated a bit when she was younger and used that experience to help her. Watching her carve down the slopes so confidently motivated me to keep pushing through my own challenges, especially with stopping. Throughout the lesson, Mark gave each of us the time we needed to progress at our own pace. He truly met us where we were and helped us advance from there. He was very knowledgeable, and we learned he has been skiing since he was seven years old. If you are ever at Hunter Mountain, I would highly recommend requesting Mark as your instructor.

Went one time with family. Lines were relatively small and resort was not full, which is great compared to nearby options. Good snow and maintenance. Definitely worth the extra drive. Not too many blues and greens, less suitable for beginners.

Incredibly cool and chill staff they only care about fun and safety. Beautiful lodging and incredibly beautiful mountain. This is a staple in the upstate/Catskill mountains This has been one of the most fun places for me when I was 10 years old and now at 25 no place has provided me 15 years of fun like this institution that has been running for more than 50 years. God bless Hunter Mountain.

Took my wife and kids yesterday. (Thursday) all The lodging staff and lift operators were very nice. A lot of advance hills and the snow was perfect! Zero lines at the lifts! Terrain parks were on point. We will definitely be back.

If you have an electric car, you are NOT welcome at Hunter!!! ?? Last year, there were six chargers for the ENTIRE resort, which was not enough. This year, not only did they fail to add more chargers, they actually REMOVED some. Now there are ONLY three working chargers!!!! ????? The chance of being one of the first three cars, compared to the number of electric cars coming to Hunter, is almost zero. Even if you manage to arrive extremely early, you’ll likely find cars parked overnight using the chargers.???

I am an Epic member and have been going to Hunter for years. The mountain itself is good. But we tried the ski school the first time on Jan 17, 2026 and it was a total disaster. 1. It took almost an hour to check in our 5 year old 2. When they go outside, she had NOT even gone on the lift after an hour, even though it was just a two hour lesson 3. When we went to complain, the first employee LIED and said she was on the magic carpet. Luckily my husband was at the magic carpet and took photos to show that no one was there. Not sure how Vail is not ashamed that it's employees openly lie about kids to parents. 4. After we asked for the manager, the manager tried to claim it's because my child did not want to ski. That was also a lie because we have a video of my child just lying there on the snow bored for TWENTY minutes with no instructors anywhere. It is also sickening that a Vail manager would lie/blame a child. 5. To top it off, we were not the only parents complaining. There were like 8 out parents who were complaining about the same thing. A bunch of us got together and apparently the staff made the same lie about all the kids - "oh they resisted so that's why they just sat in snow for an hour." 6. More disturbingly, say many parents just pull their kids out. Meaning Hunter was able to get away with ripping off at least some of the parents.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE We booked a ski lesson on 12/31, and the lesson itself with Ryan was excellent. Later that same day, we booked another lesson for the following morning. Unfortunately, we had a flat tire that morning and were unable to make it in time. We were hoping to reschedule for the afternoon instead. I attempted to call 19 times, and no one answered. We then reached out online and were given a phone number to call, but that only made things worse. We were transferred from one department to another multiple times and eventually were even transferred to the hotel, which had nothing to do with our issue. After spending most of the day dealing with the car problem, we decided to drive to the resort in person to try to resolve the situation. Once there, we were sent from the rental department to the guest service center, and then told to go back to rentals again. No one took ownership or offered a solution. At that point, we gave up and left, essentially forced to walk away from $400 with nothing resolved. The lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service was extremely disappointing.

unfortunately have to give this 1 star. I am a local who has enjoyed the mountain for years - even amid the Vail greed - until I was recently targeted by an older ski patrol agent. I was skiing down late afternoon amid icy conditions across the mountain and looking to safely get to the base. I was faced with a decision of going down a trail that I knew to be in very icy and dangerous conditions (and one that multiple people have actually died on due to crashing in icy, neglectfully open conditions), or to go down a trail that was previously marked as closed for a ski race (that had since concluded). The ski race trail appeared to be the far safer option - so I took that route and was able to safely get to the base to end the day. Upon getting to the base, an older ski patrol agent named Kevin aggressively demanded my ski pass and told me he would revoke my access to the mountain. I explained my decision making process and apologized to him - and he told me he would just give me a warning in reponse. 2 days later - the mountain inexplicably revoked my pass and has refused to explain their decision. I was simply attempting to avoid a fate (of death) due to icy conditions and now am being penalized for no apparent reason. the head of ski patrol, William Rod, appears to prefer that skiiers continue to ride on neglected trails full of ice and would like to increase the mountain's "body count" in lieu of the logical action here. major disappointment - its going downhill fast.

Hunter Mountain currently has higher lift ticket prices compared to other nearby resorts like Blue Mountain and Greek Peak Mountain Resort. One important thing to keep in mind is that leaving lift tickets in your cart is not recommended, as prices can increase unexpectedly from one moment to the next. Overall, there are better options available at more competitive prices. Unless Hunter Mountain is your only convenient choice, it’s worth checking alternatives that offer similar or better value without the sudden price hikes.

Really nice staff and good trails with range of ability levels. Unfortunately, lift lines took forever. Hunter advertises itself as limiting tickets to avoid crowds, which is why we decided to go here. Bbut I’ve been to few slopes as packed as this one, from lift lines to food to lockers. So although we were there for 7 hours, we got very few runs in. Disappointing for the price.

We really enjoyed tubing at Hunter Mountain! You are able to take a shuttle from the parking and the tubing is fun and easy!! A magic carpet takes you to the top of the hill so you can save your energy. The crew working at the top are very nice and helpful, they’ll spin you or send you down normal your pick. Shout out to Destiney and her brother Austin for their especially great vibes and attitudes!! Also, we didn’t think the line/wait was bad and we went midday on a Saturday, they did a good job keeping things moving.

The staff there make this place magical. Every person I’ve encountered has been kind, patient and helpful! My partner and I took lessons and during booking, my partner got the last slot for intermediate lessons so I got stuck with beginners. When I met my instructor, Leslie S., she accommodated slightly to help me hone in on the skills I already knew, better. She really helped me feel safer and valued!

I love this mountain. I'd like to see some ski patrol on White Cloud and Belt Parkway. Too many people bombing down windy trails and a serious accident awaits. I was making short slalom turns on the left side of a trail when somebody went by me at such a high rate that I felt them without seeing them. "On Your Right (or Left)" calls should be mandatory for skiers as wellas not passing somebody inside of 3 ft of their body at high speed either.

My second time taking the family here. Definitely a great mountain! However, we had a negative experience both times we visited. Once my child slipped while getting on to the magic carpet and there was no attendant present to stop the belt, it was a very scary experience, especially the fact that she was dragged for quite some distance. And the other time we had a manager at the ticket window that was extremely nasty.

when renting the snowboards and skiing, the time and efficiency was absolutely horrible. i waited in the line for more than an hour and even when i kept asking the staff members where my rental was, they disregarded it and told me to keep waiting. during the duration of me waiting they continuously had other peoples rentals already ready, with me still waiting in the damn line. i think it’s ridiculous how they specifically choose who to give the rentals to based off of if you have a lesson as opposed to who comes to tne line first. it was ridiculous and it wasted so much of my time when i could’ve been snowboarding. also some of the staff members seemed like they didn’t know what they were doing. they took long times and kept pausing and taking back words and things like that. it was not organized at all. the mountains were pretty good, no complaints there but seriously, please change the rental system better and more efficient and actually listen to what other people are telling you.

I would like to give a special shout out to Gabby. I lost my phone on the slope, Belt Parkway. Luckily I bumped into him, asked him what's the best way to find my phone on the slope. He was very helpful as he helped me find and dig my phone out from under the snow. Must be my lucky day. Thank you Gabby!!!!!!!! This is our sixth year coming back to Hunter Mountain for a family ski trip. The slopes conditions are very good and the lodge is very roomy. It always looks so lively and welcoming.

Since they were taken over by a huge corporation the "company side" infrastructure has turned into a lot of dark patterns. It's extremely difficult to do things like cancel lift tickets. They'll put you in some complex call system and then when you've waited for 45 minutes explain that, due to system issues, you can only cancel the ticket if you call back on a specific day at a specific time. It's all carefully constructed around revenue maximization.

Amazing hotel! Staff was so nice, holes is very cosy and comfortable. Hot tube and hot pull is prefect. Comfortable room and bed. Restaurant working at evening only, but it’s ok, food is nice. Free code and snack provide in the morning. Hotel located really near ski resort, so it’s perfect to stay without car.

WIFI desperately needs to be updated! Unfortunately, I was there on off-season so I did not get to snowboard on the Mountain other than that the accommodations were comfortable. It would be helpful if the rooms provided bed arrangements. We had a three bedroom suite and our third bedroom had bunkbeds which was not what we needed for our accommodations. TVs need updating as well

Enjoyed our visits here. Had a lots of fun as a beginner. Resort has nearly everything you need. Even if you are missing equipment, you can purchase from their place. I would recommend renting the first time, the process is easy and the waiting line was managable. I would definetly recommend this place to enjoy snow with friends and family.

We went to Octoberfest at Hunter Mountain. It was nice. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. It is a lot smaller though compared to years ago when our family would attend. The steak food truck was great! Awesome food and excellent service! Also had funnel cake, always a plus! And tried poutine for the first time. It was good. I will probably go back next year.

SkyRide up Hunter Mtn in the Fall likely better than in any other season. Helpful staff...beautiful views on a clear day...could almost see the Rockies. After 11am the indoor outdoor food vendors purvey their standard wares alongside kiddie fun rides. WORTHWHILE

So I've have skiied at Hunter a few times, great place during the week. We took the chairlift ride to the top, the summit lodge is closed temporarily for a remediation of some sorts. If you don't like heights this is not the place to be. The views are always great. Make sure you wear good walking shoes. The fall is the best time to go. Enjoy your ride.
