What clients say about ecopark in East Rochester (NY)

Very easy! Just make an appointment online! There are 2 lines to enter a big garage, one for hazardous waste and the other for electrical devices(TV's, computers, printers, Christmas lights, etc). The people that work there are polite and helpful! It took me less than 5 minutes to dispose of my stuff. Ecopark has a great website explaining everything that you can take there or dispose of in your trash!

Great place to recycle tricky stuff. Electronics, bulky plastics, Styrofoam etc. Guy who directed traffic was good too.

You have to make sure you bring someone who has muscles to help you take the heavy stuff out of the car!!!

Nice to drop off junk if you have a vehicle big enough without renting a dumpster for lightweight junk.

Took out of date meds and containers for disposal and all went seamlessly. Only problem is the time waiting in a very slow moving line.

It was a pleasent experience dropping off my stuff til I got to station 3. The man would not lift a finger to help me or the other two elderly women trying to drag a microwave out of their car. I helped them (I'm 80). Lazy Lazy Lazy

People are complaining because they have to wait in line???? PLEASE, tell me where you go for ANYTHING and don't have to wait in a line!!! To many ungrateful egotistical people around. Give them a break, they are trying........ If you don't want to wait in line either go somewhere else or don't buy things that will eventually have to go there. I am grateful for them and applaud them for putting up with the attitudes of everyone!!!! I hope you ALL have a great Day!!!

Ran up on a Saturday to get rid of some old small appliances and CPAP items as well as a microwave. There was no line and it was very easy to unload into the appropriate bin and be on our way

Quick drive through drop off of recyclables. The area was managed well and there are attendant that tell you where to park and drop off. I stopped by at 12:40 on Saturday afternoon and there was no wait at all.

Does what it says on the tin. They have things well organized and there is plenty of space. If you haven't been recently, you probably still need to ask someone to confirm where to toss what you got.

Love the place except on Saturday the guy that directs traffic is a control freak. First question should be have you been here before and if so go ahead. He tried to manage traffic, what you’re bringing like if you have to take 8 more steps that it may kill you! I never go on Saturdays because of him to stressful

They are the place we have to go for e-recycling and medication drop off, so I'm glad we have this service locally BUT, they could be nicer. Every time I go I fear getting yelled at and usually the "guys" there bark at people. Also the directions/signs are confusing. I get stressed out going and while I should feel good helping the environment, I feel horrible afterwards and like I am the garbage leaving. And yet I go back because I have to. Everyone needs some customer service training and anger management training.

Very grateful for this place. They were able to help clear years of old eWaste that have been cluttering my mother's house for far too long. The process is easy enough: the attendant tells you where to park and you unload your stuff in the designated areas. Would definitely recommend to other Monroe County residents

A great service with great people working there. I have been there twice in the last two months and will be going back tomorrow morning! The earlier you go on Saturday the shorter the line is.

Great for standard recyclables, you drive into the center and sort stuff yourself from your car out into huge bins. Guy at the entrance sorts you out if you have other stuff (paint etc) to dispose. Super friendly staff, quick in-and-out process. Check the website for hours, try to get there before the last half hour they're open so you can dodge the line.

Made an appt to get a bunch of bins of hazardous waste materials. In and out in three minutes, never had to leave my car. Outstanding experience and quite interesting. Easy Peasy.

Too bad this place is only open to the public 2 days a week, but it's a huge waste management facility and is run very well. I went on a Wednesday afternoon and there was a constant line of cars, but the line moved quickly and I was able to recycle all my old electronics without issues. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The staff at Ecopark are always so kind, friendly and knowledgeable. Every time I've gone there, I've had a good experience. At first, I was a little nervous because it's a DIY-type set up and I wondered if it would hard getting help if I had questions. But as soon as I drove up, a staff person asked what I needed to drop off and directed me to the right line. They also gave me additional information about a few things that had changed as well. They make it easy to properly dispose of certain things that don't belong on the curb.

Amazing place! Felt a little intimidating at first, but everyone there super helpful, and after going once you'll be all set to return. So happy they accept huge styrofoam cubes, electronics, so many items. Also if you call to set up an appointment you'll most likely need to leave a message, but they'll get back to you right away. Grateful for ecopark.

I've been here at least 7 or 8 times to take in things for recycling, twice by appointment for household hazardous waste. I believe it's important to dispose of things properly. Driving through and following the signage to figure out where to put things has always been simple and there has always been someone around to help if needed. Today as I pulled into the garage, I was yelled at by an employee who wanted me to stop and list everything I had to drop off. He didn't know the term "e-waste". He was frankly pretty rude. I already knew where I needed to go. I don't believe this new system of stopping each car to talk makes anything easier. Seemed to hold up the line and cause a bit of confusion. The man directing us seemed to know less than I did and was rude. I'm shocked because I've never had this experience in the past. Useually everyone here is so nice and helpful. I don't really think there's another place where I can take all of my items that can't be recycled or trashed curbside. Hopefully this man won't be there in the future! I've never had this problem before which is why I still give the ecopark 4 stars. Employees here need to be more familiar with the terms and items people come to recycle. There is no reason to yell.

I am so grateful for a facility like Eco-Park! The service is helpful, quick, and accommodating. So glad Monroe County has a place to recycle so many items. Their website provides comprehensive lists and explanations of items that are recyclable and not and whether they can be put in your curbside bin or acceptable at Eco-Park.

Went to drop off a flat screen. Arrived 15 minutes before they opened . Already a line of about 10 cars. Once they opened it went quickly, about 5 minutes and I was in. Drop off was easy. Great experience.

This place, although out of the way, accepts all types of items for recycling: paper, plastic, glass, corrugated, electronics, small appliances, light bulbs, batteries, Styrofoam packing materials (no Styrofoam egg cartons), old plastic and metal products. They also have bins for sensitive documents that get shreaded. You can drop off items for Goodwill industries here. There are fees for CRT tvs and dehumidifiers. Appointment needed to drop off hazardous household waste and prescription drugs. Only open two days per week: Wednesday 1-6 PM and Saturday 7 AM -1 PM. Two lanes of traffic to enter the large building. Left lane for regular drop off. Right lane for appointment drop off. Drive slowly. Follow directions. You unload and deposit your own items. Ask for directions if you are unsure where to go or what to do. They will not help unload heavy items. One worker is particularly unfriendly. All others are friendly and helpful. They also have leaf mulch available for free. Bring your own tools and containers for self serve access outside.

Pretty smooth operation. Bins were pretty full and a bit hard to get equipment into right bins. Only open 2 days a week, but drive thru for most items makes it pretty fast

Great option for people with sharps containers. Also large amounts of sensitive data, you can feel safe disposing of it in their locked bins. They also have free fill dirt, not meant to grow fruits and vegetables, but great for filling in holes in your yard. Bring your own buckets and shovel!

The days and hours of operations are pretty poor. Took me a month to work in a visit. 15 minutes after it opened there were 20 cars in line but boy do they move them through fast!. In and out in 25 minutes. Staff are very helpful except the cranky guy in the grey T shirt. And yes they do take cash*****

The experience is fine for dropping off recycling, BUT HOW COME IT IS ONLY OPEN 2 TIMES A WEEK!!! IT SHOULD BE OPEN PART OF EVERYDAY. Assume we the tax payers are footing the bill, so Monroe County, how about making it convenient for us.
