Love this business. We purchased a 1855 home in the South Wedge, and have been replacing doot knobs, hardware to period and always find what we're looking for. Its also a great place to just tour to see amazing architectural pieces.

I ordered an item online and got an email that it was out of stock. My refund came back promptly. I noticed Historic Houseparts emailed me during after hours and thought they deserved a shoutout. Thank you! If I need anything I will come back again!

This seller is amazing. The beautiful items I bought were boxed up and shipped very expeditiously. I wish more transactions were this positive.

Historic Houseparts offers a unique selection of vintage and reclaimed items. Great for finding one-of-a-kind pieces for home projects!

I am a Set Decoration buyer for movies and television, based in Toronto, Canada. We LOVE Historic Houseparts! We count on them for their reliable advice and solutions for our period sets. This week I needed several very plain 1950s bathroom and kitchen sink faucets. Kathy did some research and found the most perfect, unadorned 50's-shaped faucets for us. As well, she made sure that they were rush-shipped so that we could meet our always-unreasonable deadlines! Over the years we've used Historic Houseparts for fabulous vintage door hardware, hard-to-find window hardware, vintage lighting...They are always a wealth of information and can help us figure out how to retrofit something into a tricky location where we aren't able to alter the existing structure of the building. Thanks Historic Houseparts - you guys are the best!

Very helpful customer service putting together all the parts needed to complete my bridge lamp project. Professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

I wish I lived close enough to shop in person. All of the several items I have ordered from the Period Bath web site have been received promptly and were even better than expected. Hard to beat for quality, price and variety if you are restoring a period bath.

Ordered a unit letter for the door of my condo. Finding these letters in oil-rubbed bronze proved extremely difficult, and Historic House Parts was the only place I could find the letter “A.” Turns out I could order these letters in black though. So when I asked if I could return the letter “A,” Historic House Parts said sure thing. There was no return label sent, just instructions on how and where to return it. When I brought it to UPS to ship it back, it would have been over half the price I paid for the letter. Historic House Parts said they can’t afford to send out return labels for items that aren’t broken or incorrectly sent on their end. The letter was more expensive than I’d like it to have been, which is unfortunate. I don’t think I will be buying anything from this company again in the future.

Kathy Flemming is a miracle worker and a problem solver! I am working on a renovation and looking to replace a 1950's tile soap dish that was missing from the wall above the bathroom sink. Based on the opening I provided, she suggested that I , instead, might try a Hall Mack recessed tumbler. To my delight, it was a perfect fit, what a relief.... I had been going down the wrong path on my solution and almost gave up, but Kathy identified a period piece that matched all the other hardware in the bathroom and was a perfect solution. Kathy really knows her stuff. Thanks again! I REALLY appreciate it.

Ordered three (3) miniature glass student lampshades that were of poor quality - rims were not a consistent thickness. If you get an item that is of poor quality AND you pay the return shipping charges you are still charged a restocking fee. Not worth the risk. ** To your response: Regarding my return, I actually did contact Historic Houseparts on August 15, 2023 through your website email with a response from Chris Jones, "we will respond as soon as we can" with no further response from your company. I had to call Historic Houseparts to get information on returning my purchase and to follow up with my refund received on September 18, 2023.

This place is top notch and it’s like a museum that you can shop in! Ignore the online reviews because it is physically impossible for them to inventory and take pictures of every last little item. They have in stock if it is something old.. even if you just need some specific hundred year old tiles to fit around the radiator pipe this is a place for it or if you need to do old molding to add style to your house this is the place but it’s amazing all of the items they have in stock for any room of the house interiors exteriors it’s incredible. Like I said it’s a museum that you can shop in!! 37 stars as far as I’m concerned

Incredibly knowledge, kind folks. They are happy to search for it if you can't find it. Wonderful selection of authentic old house parts, with an amazing selection of new reproduction. I find their pricing reasonable. I take people here who are visiting from out of town if they have an appreciation for old homes.

Really beautiful antiques. I wish more things had prices on them but I love going into the warehouses and hunting for restoration ideas. There is always something new to see.

This place is perfectly charming. Almost didn’t go in because of the reviews. Had to post because the poor reviews seemed to be almost entirely online order problems. Seems petty to tank a local business for a prob with the website. Only been once but the owners were lovely and they had plenty of unique items. I say check it out if you are curious. :)

I was shopping online and needed international shipping. I also had some specific questions and requests about the item I planned to purchase. The customer service provided was top notch. They were quick to offer solutions and were courteous and patient. Everything went smoothly, my item arrived quickly, well packaged and considering the unique quality and age of the piece - looks fantastic!

This place is awesome! I was able to find a counterbalance sash weight for the old windows in my house, and this let me completely restore the function of the existing windows. Staff was helpful and got me everything I needed. Edit: They recently restored a crystal chandelier we had in our attic. This included a complete cleaning of all of the crystals, complete re-wiring, replacement of the old chain, and sorting and hanging several hundred crystals that were in a box alongside the chandelier. It came out looking beautiful, and was right on budget with the quote we received before hand. This completely makes the room, and it's great that we could retain something original from our house and make it look just like new. The person who restored the lamp was extremely knowledgeable about the lighting fixtures and really did top-rate work with our light. We are really pleased with the end result.

we ordered a cold air floor grate two months before our new hardwood floors were to be installed. they quoted a 1 week turnaround. after 2 weeks we called on status and no grate. nearly a month later I called to check on status and they were basically clueless about our order.

Horrendous customer service. Ordered tile and never received confirmation of shipment. Had to reach out 3 separate ways to finally get a response. Tiles arrived, drop shipped from the manufacturer, and every tile was shattered. Have provided all photo evidence that Historic Houseparts requested and still have not received a refund. Filing the claim is between the company and the manufacturer, not the customer. Have reported them to BBB and my credit card company. Avoid this company and their lack of customer service.

I recently restored a 100 year old door and upon reinstalling the hardware, a piece broke. I visited Historic House parts and upon examining the item Phil was able to immediately source me a replacement part that worked perfectly after a small modification. With the help of the staff here I was able to turn a stressful historic renovation into a success. Truly an invaluable gem in Rochester.

NO SUPPORT! I was given an item purchased from Historic Houseparts by another party. The box was sealed and the pick ticket was still in a sealed pocket on the outside of the box. When I opened the box there were some small parts missing. The person responding to my email, regarding replacement of those parts, was extremely difficult to work with and insisted I needed to buy the parts from them. She never gave me a price for the parts, either.

Lots of antique and vintage hardware on the first floor with repro on the second floor. Plenty of parking on Hamilton St, good hours they worked very hard to accommodate my needs and have sources. Some stuff was more expensive than the other architecture salvage place.

Looking for glass chimneys for wall sconces in my 106-year-old house. Found them at historic house parts. Website said they were in stock. I ordered them with two day shipping. After two days I checked by email and they said they did not have them in stock. And it would be several weeks before they did. And then they would have to ship them. I canceled my order on that day. I received confirmation by email from historic house parts that my order would be canceled and my money would be refunded through PayPal. That did not happen. It took multiple emails and finally having to file a dispute with PayPal before my money was finally refunded well over two weeks later. If I had not stayed on them, I am confident they would not have refunded my money. I wanted to purchase from a small business, but this hassle is not worth it. I got what I wanted through Amazon in one day. Buyer beware.

I ordered a cabinet latch from this company a month ago and paid for 2 day shipping. The item has not shipped and I have received no update from this company despite trying to contact them three different ways. They did process my credit card so I don't know what the hold up is here, but I would definitely avoid buying from this company. Will be reporting them to the BBB shortly if I don't receive an update on my order and/or a refund.

What a Gem to have in the City! They have literally everything you could ever ask for inside and next door in their barn. The staff is knowledgeable and super friendly. Price’s are fair given how unique their pieces are. I just bought a 1920 colonial and I had so many questions (I wanted to bring my house back to its former glory) and the staff was so helpful. Plus the building itself is super cool. Highly recommended!!!

Simple, basic lighting parts not in stock. Ordered on 5 Oct and emailed a follow up and no reply. Emailed a much longer inquiry and still nothing. Finally called today and canceled my order. First and last time I will order from here. If you don't stock basic parts, stop taking orders. Also, engage with you customers, I could have gotten these elsewhere in this amount of time - and I am taking into account your own sites 7-10 day lead time.

I placed an order with Historic Houseparts for some light fixtures. Though this wasn't made clear to me at the time that I ordered, some of the fixtures were not in stock. After waiting a couple of weeks and not getting any definitive information about when they might arrive, I cancelled the order (with Historic Houseparts agreement). It is now coming up on 2 months and I have yet to receive a refund. While the company agrees that a refund is due and promises to issue one, they do not follow through with the actual money. I urge all consumers to avoid doing any business with Historic Houseparts.

I had a glass pane repaired on a storm door. They were reasonably priced and quick. Friendly staff and a cool selection of original and replica house parts. There are 3 buildings in total, the two outer buildings are rather disorganized but fun to walk through if you're hunting for something unique.

NEVER AGAIN. The photo on Historic Houseparts' website of the picture rail hooks I purchased does not truly represent the shape very well, and it turns out that the hooks are entirely unusable. The customer service manager won't admit that the product is defective, so they won't pay for return shipping. Not only that, there is a 20% restock fee. What a a mistake it was to ever shop here.

I purchased some antique pocket door hardware on their website for a renovation I'm working on. When the package arrived there was only one door pull. The description upon closer inspections said that it came as a pair but also said it came as just one. I was under the impression that they came as a pair so emailed back. Cindy got back to me right away acknowledging the mistake on their part and sent off the additional door pull at no additional cost and they paid the shipping cost to Canada. I've been in e-commerce transactions in the past where the company basically tells you a deal is a deal, but these guys really made things right. I won't think twice about doing business with them again and will be paying them a visit in person when I'm in Rochester this August. A standup business with excellent customer service. Would recommend them to anyone. - Ryan in Toronto

I ordered some cabinet hinges recently. They arrived quickly, but the build quality and level of finish was disappointing and did not reflect the pictured item on their website. I called them to discuss returning them and they said they would consider a full refund. A few weeks later, they only refunded a portion of the purchase, but I feel they should've refunded the full amount due to the misrepresentation on their website. Very disappointed in their lack of customer service. Will not be shopping here again.
