The pricing on the shelf was misleading, and when I went to customer service for help, I was met with attitude instead of assistance. The promotion signage was unclear, with fine print and exclusions that weren’t obvious at all.
Even the employees agreed the sign should be changed and said they had already requested an update — yet they still refused to honor the price. I was told “the right thing to do is read the sign,” which felt dismissive and unnecessary.
It was a difference of just over $6. In my experience, stores like Trader Joe’s would make it right in the moment. Unfortunately, this Whole Foods location chose policy over customer care. Disappointing experience.
I still can’t believe this was $14. It was so much food and so high quality and delicious. Best food bar I’ve seen at a Whole Foods, I wish I lived closer.
Spent over 13 minutes on hold, transferred to four different people just to see if they had soy milk in stock. Had enough time to walk nine blocks there and check myself, and yes it’s exactly what you might be thinking, they were completely out of stock and no, they never got back to me on the phone.
I expected maybe it was busy (still not a valid excuse) but upon arrival the store was essentially dead. Several employees standing around and chatting with each other in the store. Last time I’ll ever go to this location.
This Whole Foods feels like the OG of the franchise. Fully stocked, great hot and cold bars. The bakery is a 10/10. Most self-checkout. You can use Amazon One for easy checkout. Excellent parking and proximity to housing and transportation.
Unacceptable Product Quality and Discriminatory Service Location: Whole Foods Market, 214 3rd St, Brooklyn (Gowanus/Waterfront) Rating: 1/5 Stars I am writing this to express my absolute disgust with both the products and the treatment I received at this location. I have been a loyal Whole Foods customer, but the standards at this Brooklyn store are a disgrace to the brand’s Austin roots. 1. Mutton Sold as Lamb (Inedible Quality): I purchased lamb that was clearly not lamb. Based on the rubbery texture, the excessive "dirt" and impurities that rose to the top when boiled, and the unbearable smell when fried, this was old female sheep (mutton). It was tough, poorly fed, and smelled like a disaster. Charging premium prices (even on "discount") for such low-grade, poorly-sourced meat is a scam. 2. Lack of Service and Racial Profiling at Fish Counter: The service failure at the seafood desk was even worse. I requested to have my oysters opened—a basic, standard service provided by Whole Foods. The employee flatly refused to help me. Based on the interaction, I felt I was being racially profiled and dismissed. It was clear that the staff here lacks the work ethic and professional courtesy found in other regions, such as the South. There is a palpable difference in how customers are treated here, and it felt like a targeted refusal of service based on who I am rather than store policy. 3. Corporate Negligence: Amazon/Whole Foods management needs to address the culture at this store. The staff's "don't want to work" attitude and the blatant lack of respect for customers make this the worst shopping experience I’ve had on the East Coast. I have already contacted customer service and expect a full refund for the inedible meat and a formal address of the behavior at the fish counter.
This is the second time I’ve come to this Whole Foods on a Saturday morning specifically planning to use the Kid’s Club, only to be told it had already “run out.”
Today I arrived at 11:22 AM, which is not late for a weekend grocery run — especially for families. Parents rely on amenities like this when shopping, and when it’s offered but consistently unavailable, it becomes frustrating and misleading.
My child was understandably upset, which made an already busy shopping trip more stressful than it needed to be. If Kid’s Club is meant to support families, there needs to be better staffing, clearer limits, or updated communication so parents can plan accordingly.
Getting sick and tired of the Amazonification of Whole Foods. Time and time again the produce is moldy, half rotten, way past its prime. Since Bezos is simply focused on reducing quality and maximizing profits, the US clearly needs a new grocery store that is committed to fresh quality produce. It's citrus season, why can't I find a single grapefruit, mandarin, or tangerine that is edible?
Me and my son went to while food to do a return to Amazon, our experience was good the store was clean and had lots of stuff, we did some shopping first and even got some frozen pizza dough. Amazing place. We made this an adventure.
I shop at this Whole Foods market frequently I gave 4 stars because some of the workers are rude, nasty and aggressive… on Saturday I was shopping and when I was checking out my items at the register the cashier yelled at me because I took the chicken off the conveyor belt before she could scan it… I thought she scanned everything but she didn’t I was so shocked, confused and trying to understand what did I do wrong I spoke with another cashier about the incident and he apologized and said he would notify the manager…she needs to be retrained WFM on 3rd street is a nice place because it’s Clean, fast and easy Amazon pick-up or return, I love the eating area and the bar is great too but be careful when you ask for help… Some of the workers are nasty and please don’t ever do anything wrong or make a mistake while shopping there
Everything is nice about Whole Foods they have a lot of options for allergen free except for fresh foods. I don’t understand that why they don’t serve allergen free fresh foods. I have celiac disease and I was hoping that I can find there some gluten free pasta pizza or other type of foods but they don’t have any. I don’t understand it. Isn’t it Whole Foods’s thing already allergen free healthy foods?
I love the parking lot. This place is always crowded and the prices are high unless you stick to 365. Great pizza dough to take home and bake. Good selection of cheeses. Nice produce.
I love this store. This location is huge with a very big selection of healthier food options at reasonable prices. All other supermarkets carry too much unhealthy food. This Whole Foods location is bigger and I better than your average neighborhood supermarket.
This was my second time visiting this particular location. I usually shop from a competitor however occasionally stop by for Amazon returns which are made to be so easy-peasy. However I also love WF's bakery section and find the self-checkout to be pretty efficient.
This was by far the worst catering experience I’ve ever had. I waited 40 minutes for my prepaid order, only to be told that 3 of my 6 items weren’t available and that I should “ask Amazon for a refund.” Why wasn’t that communicated in the first five minutes instead of wasting almost an hour of my time?
The entire process felt poorly organized and poorly run. For a major company like Whole Foods, this level of service is unacceptable. I will definitely rethink using their catering services in the future.
Just picked up Thanksgiving deserts. As always, Whole Foods does not disappoint. I scanned in from my Amazon app and had my dishes ina few minutes. I ordered the Pumpkin Cheesecake and the basic pumpkin pie.
I shop at Whole Foods on 3rd St in Brooklyn. It has a large parking lot (a blessing!). The fruits and vegetables are fresh and mostly organic. The San Francisco sourdough bread is great. I always buy the fresh flowers. Best of all are the fruits and vegetables. Some of the lettuces are grown in their own greenhouse. It's expensive but so is every place else.
The prices were reasonable especially if you have an Amazon account. I spent less for better quality fruits, Australian lamb chops, salmon, plant based milks, root vegetables, and other staple foods. Also the temperature in the market wasn't Antarctica. I enjoyed walking around in there without getting frostbite.
Whole good is now having competitive prices compared to other classic supermarket. Their vegetables are always fresh and they have a large selection of cheeses. Besides that bread section is good not sure of they bake on site from a frozen bread or they do prepare read from scratch. Frozen section is complete missing a large keto section and sugar free section.
By far the best Whole Foods in Brooklyn. Spacious clean store. 95% of the employees are pleasant and helpful. Anything you are looking for someone will individually help you and take you to where you need to go. They are better stocked than other locations, and in the event they are out of something, like at Trader Joe’s, they will actually take the time to find out why and give you an estimate on when the product should be back. The stores also alongside a very tiny waterway, but that has really nice benches set up, so in nice weather you can sit outside to eat your lunch there if you like.
Most workers have a strange attitude here. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t diversify the workspace and have POC and privileged white customers interact on a daily basis…
The bread section is also just out in the open right next to the doors?? Collecting dust and whatnot.
What can I say? It’s a Whole Foods. And I wasn’t there to actually shop. I was there for Amazon returns. So if you’re looking for that, go in the door that’s further from the street, head up the stairs, and right there in that really nice dining space that they have is where you’ll find it.
That said, as a place to go to get some food it certainly has these things going for it. The store is laid out extremely well and for an NYC supermarket it’s pretty spacious. I was there in the middle of the day and there are a lot of cashiers waiting on people. Of course, one of the best things about it was that it had plentiful parking and really easy access off a side street. And to me, for NYC that’s one of the most important things.
Now I can’t say much for other times of the day, but given that last point if what you’re looking for is a place to drop off a return for Amazon, then this is a great location to do it. On top of the easy access you’re gonna get a chance to shop at a Whole Foods that’s set up really nice . Such a deal, right?
This Whole Foods used to be a joy to visit, but over the years it’s declined in a few ways: it’s often overcrowded, items are out of stock, and the quality of the food isn’t as consistent as it once was. I still shop here, but I usually try to go right when they open or outside of peak hours. The staff is always friendly and willing to help, which I appreciate.
Security has also become much more noticeable. I understand why, and it’s reassuring in one sense, but the constant presence does give the place a bit of a “Big Brother is watching” atmosphere.
Going to Whole Foods, you already know it’s a great market to shop at, although it can be on the pricey side. So when we shop at Whole Foods, we think of it as an experience.
We went to this market today with our toddler, who was riding on the cart (not in the sitting part). Someone approached us and told us that wasn’t allowed. We completely understood, so we corrected it right away and had no problem following the rules.
The issue wasn’t the rule itself, but the way the worker handled the situation in a very rude manner, and then even called security. We didn’t disagree, argue, or act rude in any way, so when security showed up, we were honestly confused and saddened to be treated like that.
To be clear, not all Whole Foods are like this. For example, the Union Square location has some funny and kind folks working there. Anyway, we finished shopping, but I truly want this market to work for us since it’s closer to home. Hopefully, our next experience will be better, and I look forward to updating this review.
What a lovely supermarket. A little pricey though. At least to me since I don’t work 12hr shifts 6 days a week (and God bless the man who does.) It has a seating area, bar, bartender, amazon return area. The supermarket even sells expensive clothes. And it has an amazing parking lot. The place looks more like liberty Science Center than a supermarket!
I stopped by Whole Foods Market on 3rd Street in Brooklyn to pick up some essentials for Thanksgiving, and the experience was seamless. I scored a great deal on an apple pie, originally priced at $13.99, but discounted to $6.99 saving me $7! I also grabbed a carton of low-fat milk for just $3.99, which was reasonably priced.
The store was well-organized and had plenty of seasonal options, making holiday shopping a breeze. The staff was courteous, and checkout was quick, even with the pre-holiday rush.
Overall, Whole Foods delivered a convenient and pleasant shopping experience. I appreciate the discounts and look forward to returning for more holiday essentials.
This Whole Foods is the most beautiful grocery store in America, very possibly the world! It has its own gorgeous park with benches right over the storied and iconic gowanus canal, once a putrid disgusting waterway which has since been cleaned up The shop is immaculate. Everything is well-placed. From the moment one enters, your immediate needs are placed at the forefront: vegetables and fruits, followed by seafood and meats and then finally other stuff we dont really need but may just want. I’m impressed at how well-thought out the product placement is. Whoever designed this shop deserves an award. Even the produce here looks better than produce elsewhere, shinier and prettier. The atmosphere is zen and customers for the most part are in great spirits too. The parking lot outside is beautiful with mini wind turbines and massive solar panels. I visited this shop multiple times a day during the pandemic because its such a nice store. These days I live in an outer borough so my less frequent trips are valued even deeper. I even got mugged on my way here and stopped in nonetheless to catch my breath and gather myself. Its a special place. You’ve set a high bar for grocery shopping WFG, now I compare most places in NYC to you. I’ll go to other WF and say, sure its nice but its not Gowanus Whole Foods Gowanus: you’re my favorite thank you for making grocery shopping so fun yet zen.
Beautiful, huge supermarket. Attractive, wide, clean aisles. Be prepared to spend a lot of time exploring. Many breads and rolls in the bakery, nicely packaged meats and poultry. Decent sale items. Grocery items I have never before seen. Place goes on forever. Bathrooms upstairs. Lots of parking. But expensive.
There was a need for a few snacks while we were in NYC, so the hubs selected Whole Foods. We arrived around 7 pm, so that clearly plays a part in good selection.
We had no issues getting quick snacks, water, and beverages, so we decided to pick up dinner as well. Not a good idea. The hot meals were sparse and needed to either be replaced or refreshed. We ended up going with pizza slices because even the pasta area was not appetizing.
The staff was friendly, alert, and quick to assist. That part is typically a bright spot.
Greatest organic eggs I ever tried (whole foods brand). Great price for organic tomatoes on the vine $2.99 per lbs. They taste good too. The organic cucumbers are tasty and reasonably priced, as well as Organic baby arugula. Whole foods organic yogurt in large container is $3.39 and they have different flavors. I get whole milk plain. Organic milk is at the best price you can find. I am attaching some photos with prices. You can find some pretty good deals. Otherwise, prices are expensive on most of the items. This is a good place to shop for fresh and healthy groceries especially if you have specific dietary needs (certified organic, non-GMO, gluten free etc.) It's also a great place to eat. They have a hot buffet, deli, bakery and salad bar as well as a grill on the second floor and plenty of seating. They have an outdoor deck on the second floor with a nice view that is perfect during the warm weather.
