I made an appointment to get my battery checked. I have been at this location before for windshield wipers, and I dealt with a woman there who installed the wipers and made the experience easy. I dealt with Joseph on this visit. One word ….awful!!!! he told me it would take an hour to check the battery….ok. After one hour, I checked on the car and the technician came out and said OK so what’s going on with this battery? Are you kidding me?? He then proceeded to tell me that I needed an oil change, which I got last week from my mechanic and a wheel alignment I explained the issue that I was having and he told me I needed a battery. Back to Joseph I told him that I would like a similar battery to the one that I had and his response was well. I don’t know what you have in your car…. Not very reassuring I told him well. Why don’t you check? I waited another hour, which was expected for the battery to be delivered and installed. Finally to complete the visit, Joseph Was gone for the day and I got to deal with Xavier who checked me out…. Zero personality. I’m not asking for someone to be bubbly and talk to me . But just be pleasant . This is a service business guys get with it!!!!!! .

Horrible customer service! Made an appointment and dropped off my car at noon for an oil change and state inspection. Did not hear from them by 5:30. Attempted to call twice and was put on hold for over 10 minutes both times. Went into the shop at 6 and they claimed to still be working on it and told me to wait. Waited over an hour more in the store with no update, despite being the only customer still there. They then came out with “recommendations,” like tire rotation, coolant refill, brake fluid flush, etc. I probably would have done all of it, if it wasn’t after 7pm!

I had a positive experience at this auto shop. Thanks you Julian for your professionalism, politeness and advice during my purchase. The other gentleman I interacted with (Tyrell) was also nice and polite.

They gave me four NEW tires. When I left , all 4 tires were inflated to different levels!! When I got to where I was going, a hour later, one of the tires was flat! Since I was too far away, I decided to go to another place and get a similar tire installed. Additionally one of techs (possible manager) when checking me out threw out a statement of work receipt with my name on it that I was in the middle of reading. He never gave me an explanation on why he did that. I ultimately was provided another receipt.

Xavier and the team at large were exceptional. Despite their system being down their attitudes and customer service were sky high. Xavier's attentiveness and his service recommendation were timely and greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this location!

Stay away. Rude employees - snottiily telling me I didn’t order the services i ordered (it’s in the appt booking). She was looking at the wrong file. Had a 9:00am appointment, returned 2 hours later. I saw my car parked exactly where I left it. They hadn’t done anything at all. I asked “what’s the point of the appointment??” “Oh that’s an appt to get in the queue” Ridiculous bs - just admit you screwed up. Never coming back.

What a terribly run location. I don’t think it’s possible to care less about someone’s time. The workers here are more worried about their personal text messages than the people waiting to be helped. I call ahead to get a diagnostics test ran on my car and they say that can get me. “Yeah bring it in”. Great they can do it today. So I bring the car to be told “about 3 hrs”. I figure great, not bad at all. I call back 3.5 hrs later. After being on hold for :10 minutes, the gentleman tells me that “stuff happens and if we don’t get to it by close, I’ll let you know”. I asked him when he would know if it was going to get done today he replays, “later tonight”. Great help here. I show back up at the location 4hr and 15 minutes later and the car hasn’t been touched. The problem I have with this is the fact that they said I they could get me in when I called (1:15pm) so I’ve wasted an entire afternoon trying to get this done. Add on the idgaf attitude is really frustrating to deal with. It feels as tho the employees here are punched in and happy. Please do better pep boys.

We made an appointment for our annual inspection--when we checked in we were told it could be an hour and a half wait, which seemed long given that we had an appointment. After over an hour, we were sent an update that it would now be a 4 hour wait. We had to leave without our inspection. Don't let people schedule if you don't have the mechanics or the equipment to do the work! And an apology, as opposed to attitude about having too many cars and not enough workers, would go a long way. (And avoid a negative review).

I will be returning… I had an issue with my car and it was ongoing but however when I brought it to the clerks attention my vehicle was further inspected and situation was corrected overall I’m happy with my service. May be busy at times, but not much of a wait and the customer service there is great. Free WiFi and AC. Area is not bad and enough parking for most clients. Job can be done same day or next depending on the issue.

I had no idea when I went here in an emergency looking for antifreeze that Pep Boys no longer sells anything. They only service vehicles. I asked the zombies that work there if they sell antifreeze and they barely grunted a response without looking at me. I looked down at a display shelf full of antifreeze and a third employee with a better grasp of the English language told me that it wasn’t for sale. Thankfully, the nearby Auto Zone had what I needed and the employees could formulate a sentence. They were very friendly and helpful. I’m never stepping foot in another Pep Boys again.

My experience at this pep boys inspired me to write my first ever google review! :) I got tires here because I waited til the last minute before a trip. The girl who helped us order the tires was nice. The next day, a guy helped me when I dropped off and picked up the car and I don't think I've ever had a worse customer service experience, it felt like I was getting a filling at the dentist...with no novacaine....painful...and ps I don't even care about good customer service!! As for the car, they include a "free wheel balance" which my trusted mechanic later informed me was not done at all, evidenced by the violent shaking that would happen at highway speeds. don't go here!

I really like the service here!!! Everyone was so kind and helpful Dana assisted me from day one with all my car needs and Christian’s customer service was exceptional! overall I brought my car in Tuesday with tons of break issues they diagnosed my car and was able to return it to me Wednesday…the next day with no issues! Tayla also assisted me with my concerns and Xavier printed out all the receipts I needed! They also offered me a coupon with all the services needed on my car and the prices were decent and accurate! I would definitely recommend this location as they are honest, reliable and trustworthy! Car runs smooth after leaving here! Will return in the future!

I scheduled an appointment online. When I drove up a technician greeted me and explained where to park and where to check-in. After I checked in I waited in the customer area. I monitored progress of the inspection online….was called promptly to check-out. Customer service and technician were professional and courteous…all completed quickly…no issues at all!!!

I am completely unsatisfied with my service here. After my first visit, one of my dashboard lights immediately turned on. I took it back in to get checked out and they serviced it (it was one of the tire pressure monitoring systems sensors). They replaced one in the front and as soon as I drove away, the light turned on again. I called them and they told me to bring it back in, which I did a week later. They charged me again for the inspection, which is crazy since they should have fixed the problem the first time. The service attendant at the counter was incredibly rude and looked at me like I was crazy. He came back to tell me nothing was wrong with my car. I told him the light still continued to turn on and he refused to believe me. I walked away without any resolution to the issue. This was a huge waste of time all around.

I have never failed an inspection in my life and they failed me. Told me I need four new tires at 31,000 miles, that I need an oil change even though I had a synthetic oil change less than 3k miles ago and that my brakes were bad, even though it says on my report that they are OK, not in the red. I only went here because my regular place was closed and I’m nearing the time for an inspection, but I never have a good experience here and will not go again. I just don’t trust them at all.

Came in because I knew one of my tires needed changing. Julian greeted my mom and I and immediately came out to our car to inspect and offer his expertise. He was very patient and answered all of our questions, which were a lot. We both have limited knowledge on tires, but Julian explained everything to us and offered so much insight on maintenance. We both we were happy with the service and with Julian. Would definitely recommend as well. THANK YOU!

Peppy service at Pep Boys. Went in for an oil change and to pick up a couple of tires. Julian was very helpful. He offered up some add’l services after a diagnostic. He wasn’t pushy and simply laid out the menu of recommended services. I politely declined - all in all, I was in and out in 90 minutes.

Dude named Xavier mumbled a bunch of stuff about my car, then when I couldn’t hear him he told me to just sit and wait. After about an hour and a half I asked him what was going on he said he lost my keys, then proceeded to talk to other customers. After another half a hour he finally handed me my keys and told me I could go without giving me any update on what was wrong with my car, instead just mumbling “don’t worry about it”… and when I pressed him he finally brought a mechanic out to explain things to me. Everyone else there was super nice but something needs to be done about Xavier.

The service technician was 5 stars very professional. My only compliant is that I arrived on time for my appointment and was told that it would take 2hrs for the parts to arrive and an hour to perform the job. It took over four hours for the part to arrive and an hour to install it. I arrived at 12p and received my vecheicle close to 6p. Definitely not satisfied with the wait time .

Had a great experience at Pep Boys today - Dana especially was fantastic and made sure everything went smoothly for me. The manager David was great as well. Highly recommend and will be back! Very quick service and very friendly staff. Thank you!!

My first review was never addressed so I am writing a new one: The situation: I repaired a valve cover gasket leak at this Pep Boys location (per their recommendation) and then went to Jiffy Lube weeks later to get a routine oil change, and was told the leak is still leaking and repair not done properly. Upon further inspection, I was also advised that the other recommended repairs from Pep Boys were not needed. I went to Pep Boys yesterday for them to fix the leak that they didn't fix the first time correctly, just to be told that they are "short staffed" and no one could fix my car. I received a phone call from the manager the night prior and I told him I would be coming after work. I go into the store the next day, and the guy at the desk had no idea I was coming even though the manager told me they would have everything ready when I arrived. The guy at the front desk then asked me "how much am I paying?" Why would I be paying anything when they didn't fix the car right the first time?? The guy at the front desk then tells me it will take 1 hour and a half, which I was totally fine with..five minutes later I was told to come pick up the car because no one there can fix it. The guy at the front desk called the manager, who then told him I was supposed to come in early. I would never agree to come in early knowing I had to work, so I came in after work, around 5:30pm. Regardless if there is a misunderstanding about the time, why is no one else at the shop qualified to repair my vehicle? This is the most bizarre situation I have ever been in and now because I feel like I am being taken advantage of I have to escalate the issue. I want the car fixed at another Pep Boys location and I want a refund.

Ordered and paid for a tire Sunday did not hear back from them I called Wednesday at 730 am they said they had the tire and to bring in the car. Got there 8 am the desk person Sandra said it would take 45 minutes I waited and hour and a half and my car is still sitting where I left it. I spoke to Xavier who was very rude he told me the technicians come in at 8 it was a few minutes to 10 at this point I told him why would you say it will take 45 minutes. The lady next to me said she was there since 730 and she said Xavier was rude to her also. At this point it's after 10:30 and I'm still waiting. Please be honest with people you have people waiting hours in a cold space with no rest rooms and employees are hanging around ordering breakfast you have Eddie eating breakfast at the desk while 6 people are waiting for hours very unprofessional

From start to finish I had the absolute BEST experience at this Pep Boys in park slope!!! (354 4th ave.) The reception and attention to the repairs we needed was precise!!! BIG SHOUTOUT to David Mills and his team!!! He was definitely on point, polite, extremely helpful and very much accommodating!!! This had to be by far the BEST car repair experience I had in all of my time driving. The brakes on our car was done in a timely fashion and everything was ON POINT!!! Thanks again David for the AMAZING service!!! 10 STARS!!!!!!

I went to Pep Boys for a new car battery. The representatives were welcoming and helpful. The shop had a very strong rubber smell. Obviously there are tires, however a better ventilation system will make the indoor environment more safe and healthy from harsh chemicals off-gassing.

UPDATE: do not be fooled by the PR response Pep Boys gives to all these terrible reviews. I followed up with their corporate office, claims office, local store, etc and they denied everything. Of course, they investigated themselves and found no wrongdoing. Pep Boys, and this particular location, is AWFUL. Please let the only good outcome of my experience be a warning to others to NEVER take your vehicle here. Absolute nightmare of an experience. If this review makes one person rethink taking their car here, then it’s a success. I brought my car in for a NY state inspection on Thursday, June 20th at 8:15am. When no one got back to me by 3pm, I called to get a status update. I was told my car failed inspection, I got a 10 day extension to fix the issues, and I could pick the car up at my convenience. I immediately go to pick up my car. First thing I notice is that there is a new crack in my driver side window. On the outside there is a semicircular indent where something had clearly fallen and hit the car. I immediately inform the sales representative of this. He goes to talk to a mechanic who said the crack was already there when I drove it in. I know this a lie. Representative tells me they will look over the security tapes which, conveniently enough, don’t show anything. He essentially accuses me of running some scam where I take my car in to fail an inspection and try to get a free window replacement out of it. He tells me they will file something with their claims department and I will hear back in 48 hours. The 48 hours go by and no one reaches out to me. So I call them back where I am placed on hold for 30 minutes just to be told someone would call me back by the end of the day. Of course no one calls me, so I call back again the following day, at which point I’m told I have to call their corporate number at 1-800-PEP-BOYS. After I call that number, I am told again that someone will reach out to me within 24-48 hours. I’m now stuck here with my only recourse writing a bad review and warning other people to NOT take their cars here.
