Steve saved us!! We had car trouble on a long road trip and just left our van there without being able to talk to him and give him a warning over the weekend. Monday morning he was right on it and it was all fixed up by Monday afternoon! He was kind, professional, honest and fair. It was a joy working with him in our difficult situation. Highly recommend! I wasn't impressed. Called a few times to see if he could get me in no answer, went in and asked if he could, he said he couldn't do a diagnosis which is fine i get being busy. But the attitude towards someone who has an idea about cars not so great. Don't know if he was having a bad day before I got there. But i personally didn't have a good experience with him.
Helped me out free of charge. I had a low tire, two gas station air pumps just let out air until I was down to 10 PSI. I was heading back home to Denver with a car full of stuff. Total lifesaver!
Our car broke down in Raton, NM. When we called Sandoval's Auto Repair we knew we'd found the right place. Steve was very friendly and had our car diagnosed and part ordered within the first few hours, then he helped us find a Rental Car so we could finish our trip to Arizona. We were updated and the repair was reasonably priced.
My water pump bearing started to go bad and I pulled into the exit and called them at 9 in the morning, letting them know I was stranded and could use some assistance in a voice message. I left my number clearly, a clear and concise message, then I sat there and waited. Water pumps a big job, good money for sure and it needed it done badly, and its easy to do. I could have done it myself had I not been stranded at the exit in Raton New Mexico, 400 miles from home, and my destination. So I truly needed at very least to hear their voice and hopefully, maybe one minute of their time to hear my problem in person to at least ease my mind. I was 0.02 of a mile away. I was watching them there, yet no one called me back. I got stranded for 4 days, no one called me back. So no, I won't be ever calling that junkyard tow place ever again. It's like "The Hills have Eyes" up around there. Go over the pass to Trinidad. The difference in hospitality is MIND BLOWING!!!!
Steve was our only hope when our truck started violently rattling right before getting to Raton. We rolled in not having a clue what was wrong and he immediately pinpointed the problem. It was fixed with in 30 minutes. Couldn’t have asked for better service.
My son and I were traveling from Phoenix AZ to Minnesota with a 1976 Ford F250. About an hour before hitting the town of Raton the truck starting bogging down and having trouble accelerating. It was intermittent and about 3 miles before the Raton we pulled over to assess the situation. After getting back on the road we realized we needed to stop or we would most likely be stuck. I found Sandoval Auto & Truck and was praying that someone would be there as it was 6:30pm on a Thursday. The stars aligned as the owner of Sandaval's was still there and was able to help us with a clogged fuel filter. He was kind and extremely helpful. Thank you so much for helping us out on that hot Thursday night and helping us get home to MN.

Thank you Steve! Our car had a sudden problem on I-25 about 5-10 miles from Raton, and it was late afternoon on a Monday. Steve took the time to look under the hood and found a hose connection that came apart. He fixed that and a loose mudflap in just minutes, and we were on our way!
Steve helped me out last minute. I'm the Owner of a small moving company and I needed a fuel filter replacement to get back on the road. He accommodated me last minute even though he was really busy. Thank you so much!
Car broke down in Raton last Sunday on my way to Colo Spgs. Talked with Steve and told him I would have my car towed from rental shop to Sandoval’s the next day...he stayed through the ice storm to receive my car.

Our car overheated on our way through Raton, and the other mechanic in town told us he didn’t have time for us. We deceived to give this shop a desperate call, and Steve answered the phone right away with a pleasant demeanor and helpful information. We ended up driving the few miles to the shop, where we received excellent customer care. Highly recommend if you need a mechanic in Raton, or are just passing through town.
I showed up with a problem with my 2007 RAM 3500, 6.7 liter diesel pullinga 38 ft fifth wheel. Due to previous commitments they were unable to get to it right away. Within 3 hours they had it fixed and I was on my way. Not a fancy shop, but honest decent people.
