I go here all the time and have never had any issues but today one of the workers was incredibly rude to me and my girlfriend. While we were looking at an old stereo that had been dropped off, a short bald man angrily approached us, passive aggresivley stating " You know this stuff isnt here for you to take, right?", and proceeding to huff his way to the CAT the items were sitting in the bucket of, and dump them into a dumpster, narrowly missing our car. This was embarressing to watch, and not just for the unprofessionalism, but the deffensiveness he held over the trash he thought we wanted to take just from looking at it. On another note, it was a gross need for waste on his end as new life for items is far better than one more thing in the landfills. Weird man.
I've lived in Westfield for over two decades and I noticed the rating for our conversation center was a 3? Yikes! The people working the center are nothing but friendly. Always smiling, always offering to help. No, sorry, it's not a "dump" where you can drop off your garbage for free. And the hours of operation are clearly marked on the town's website.
If you think you can drive here any day of the week and hour of the day and drop off your trash, you will be disappointed. (You can purchase a permit to use the dumpster and drop off trash.) Take two minutes and read through the "rules" and hours of operation before jumping in your car. The center is a great resource and getting better every year.
Good place to go as a Westfield resident to discard certain items such as electronics. However, some items they will charge you. I tried to drop off one wooden pallet and they wanted to charge me $40. Like the taxes aren't high enough, they have to charge me $40 for a piece of wood?
Great when it's open ..which seems to be rarely?♀️website and sign of their hours that are rarely correct? does anyone monitor that the hours are very rarely followed? Not life altering event but just frustrating for the umpteenth time i've loaded the car up and driven there?
I've been going there for the past 10+ years, and never had an issue. Just check the operating days/hours before heading there! The man who's been working there past 4 times I came is very sweet and consistently has had offered help, whether it's unloading full load of metal (disposed of an old shed) or paper boxes or old computer equipment. So lucky to have the conservation center in town.
A great resource in Westfield - when they are open, which seems like never. At least 3 times in the past month I have loaded up my truck and went to the dump. Checked on the website and it says the center is currently"OPEN!" I get there... its closed. I am ready to pull my hair out!
The town gets an A+ for operating this facility and offering it to its tax paying citizens. Having said that, the “workers” who work at the site need to be reminded that the people who visit this site and use its services are the ones who pay their very generous wages and benefits!! These public servants need to be a little more flexible and a lot more helpful to folks using the facility.
This is a wonderful recycling center however the hours for the dropoffs are NOT accurate, I am here on a Thursday at 11am and the center is closed when it’s clearly marked on the website as open...very frustrating when I have compost to drop off and the center isn’t open.
