Having a transfer station in the city is incredibly convenient. It eliminates the hassle of figuring out where to dispose of trash and garden waste. Plus, free topsoil and compost are available. Weekend operating hours would be much more beneficial than weekday hours.
This station is a well-oiled machine with a fantastic crew. Everything is well-organized, the people who work there are so nice & helpful, and the customers dropping stuff off all fall in line with a great culture of keeping the place clean. I don’t understand why this works so well when other common services struggle. A model to emulate.
It is such a great facility to recycle resources and manage wastes for the community. The facility encourages more residents to recycle instead of dumping toxic materials into their garbage containers.
We lived in Summit for 8 years before moving on to a couple of other local towns, and took for granted what an excellent facility this is. Compared to other towns, it is large, well-run, has great hours, and accepts and recycles a lot more types of waste than other towns. It is an excellent model for other towns to follow.
For the yearly permit you have the ability to throw away far more than other towns that limit you on how many pounds you are legally allowed to throw away plus the bi yearly summit free market and the book library is great. The mulch and dirt are top notch
Friendly staff that are always helpful. I have been going to the transfer station for 20 years. So nice to have a place to recycle everything and dump your grass and leaves. You can even drop off books! One of the many things I love about living in Summit is the transfer station. Keep up the great work!
Good place for all ♻ items like used engine oils, cardboard, metal items Etc.. I found few good 📚 in books Trash area. They maintained very well like small library.
Great place, take all recycling, branches, leaves, even concrete. And of course garbage. They also have free mulch and great composted leaves to plant with.
What can I say, really. I have trash, and this place takes it away. As you would expect, there are separate areas for recyclables (cardboard, glass etc) and trash. My understanding is you need a town window sticker to use the facility. There is no charge when you visit.
