I put mobile 1 in my car oil. But when I came to this place for the first time. My car didn’t run the same after. I have a fairly new car. I know what mobile one oil is supposed to feel like. I checked the oil and saw that it was already burning at 400 miles. Meaning the oil that they claimed, was not exactly authentic mobile one oil. I feel bad, leaving a negative review for a small business owner . But this isn’t acceptable either. I noticed that the price was $40 cheaper than everywhere else so I went there.

After taking my 2008 PT cruiser to a few shops including BUHLER. Leo and his team were finally able to fix it. Leo performed a complete diagnostic on my car. Found the problems gave me a straightforward estimate. I couldn’t be happier. I told Leo has now has a new permanent customer. If you’re looking for a reliable repair shop take it to Matawan Auto.

I went to change my wipers but got oil change, tires rotated for a reasonable charge. They were fast and told me I would probably need a break job at the next oil change. He could have stuck me with it right then and there but we're honest. This is an honest repair shop that should be used by women. I'm going back for the break job. Bring cash to avoid 3% credit card charge.

Leo and his team were able to not only assist me with the issues that I came to them to repair in a timely fashion, but helped me to identify areas that will need addressing in the near future. I will surely be going back for my future maintenance!

Good, honest service. Have been using them for years and they don't take advantage of my ignorance. In fact, I know they are always looking out for me! And in an instance where a dealership quoted work to me, Leo and his team did the same work for me at a far more reasonable price. Updating after going to Matawan Auto for thirteen years: still great. I've never had reason to complain.

I can’t say enough good things about Matawan Auto and Leo! I waited until the absolute last minute to drop off my 1978 Dodge Ram Power Wagon right before a major snowstorm. It had a laundry list of problems: the plow wasn’t working, the brakes were shot, the power steering pump was leaking, and on top of all that, it wouldn’t even start. Leo didn’t hesitate to take on the challenge. Against all odds, he had my truck up and running just in time for the storm. The plow works perfectly, the brakes are solid, and the power steering issue is completely resolved. It’s honestly never run so well! What impressed me the most is Leo’s honesty and the fair pricing. He explained everything clearly, didn’t try to upsell me on unnecessary repairs, and delivered top-notch work. If you’re looking for a reliable, trustworthy mechanic, Matawan Auto is the place to go. I showed up to “Leo” at 12:45pm on a Saturday, when he closes at 5pm, all for an oil change and new spark plugs. Those simple things I normally do myself, but due to a stuck/stripped oil cap that exceeds my knowledge, I figured I’d give Leo my money. Well , he didn’t even want to hear what I had to say, told me it was “too late” to show up and do anything, when that stuff could be done in an hour. Gave me a major attitude, spoke over me every time I tried speaking. What if it was an emergency? Besides it being my ONLY two days off this month due to the holiday. That’s how you speak to a future potential customer? Totally unprofessional. Well I’m definitely not going to be one now and I’m telling all my family and friends in Matawan about this experience.

Matawan Auto does not disappoint. How many places still run customer friendly and honest service? The owner Lou, and his employees are exceptional. After having stopped for assistance, even though it was near closing time, they were more than gracious to assist with my car and the issue with my tires. Lou checked all the tires to make sure the pressure was good, and replaced the donut tire I had been nervously driving on. As a nurse, I have to be confident my vehicle is safe as I report to work at all hours. There really are not many businesses left who take the time for their customers- Much appreciated - 5 star service - if you are looking for a reputable garage, I highly recommend Matawan Auto.

Fair, honest, and reliable. Able to drop my car off on a Saturday morning and had it back that afternoon. Can’t say a bad thing about them and Leo is one of the good guys. Thanks again!

I’ve taken my cars to Leo at Matawan Auto for 11 years now and have always been satisfied. I’ve never had a trusted mechanic in my life until finding Leo in 2012 and it makes life easier when you have trust in the person taking care of your car. Leo and his team are THE BEST. My wife has taken her car to Leo for years and I’m a recent convert (my old mechanic has not been too reliable on car fixes-my recent electrical problem wasn’t diagnosed right by them but Leo pinpointed the problem with ease). ). So nice to have things fixed right the first time!

Just got an older truck this week and it had a leak from under the engine. Had it there early today and had a call back within the hour to tell me what was wrong. Fixed within hours. Fair and honest is the best words to describe this shop. No upsell, no over diagnosis. Highly recommend!

Took my car for an inspection and physically saw one of the mechanics damage my vehicle. Instead of apologizing, he proceeded to yell at me and blame me for his mistake. The owner fixed the damages on my car after the incident but the mechanic continued to be rude and childish saying they shouldn’t have taken the car and continued to disrespected me. Don’t accept the car is you can’t do the job properly, common sense. I would not recommended this mechanic shop to anyone, very unprofessional and with incompetent mechanics

I am from out of town and was stranded. The Owner went above and beyond to help! Stayed late along with another employee on a Friday evening. New battery and new tires. Very affordable and trustworthy. Also helped find a hotel! Wonderful people are still here in the world!

I've been getting my service from them for quite some time now. One of the greatest things about this place is that the shop is very close to where i live (walkable distance), and two Leo has been very attentive , honest, and fair each time i got my cars serviced. The customer service at this place is TOP notch! I would definitely recommend going to this place to get anything from general maintenance done to custom or performance modifications to pretty much any vehicle.

I stopped by this location recently because it was close to home and is a recommended installer for TireRack. I spoke to a friendly lady at the front desk who let me know I'd get a call as soon as my order showed up. I spoke to Leo once or twice once my TireRack order arrived, and they were able to see me the same day at lunch time. I can tell that Leo has probably been in the industry for a long time. He is wise, funny and collected considering what the automotive industry typically entails. He has some great signs (read: humorous) in the office and shares interesting stories. I appreciated being taken care of on such short notice. I only had one tire + wheel replaced, but it was done crazy fast and he gave me advice on how to handle my particular situation. Leo and his staff care about what they do, and it sounds like he does his best to be reasonable, patient and upfront with people, telling them how things are and what their options are. Rare traits to find in this business. Being that they are located a stone's throw away from my house, I will totally be back if I have any major issues in the future. Keep up the awesome work :)

A neighbor referred me to Matawan Auto, as his brother has used them for years. I needed to get a recent annoying exhaust noise checked out. I went in, was welcomed warmly by the staff , my car was diagnosed for what I was there for and a list made of things suggested for future maintenance. I was then introduced to the owner Leo, who personally takes time to check each entering car's diagnostic list ,takes time to price each item, and allow the customer to decide what they want done without pushing unnecessary repairs. It's easy to be skeptical of most shops who are not honest ,but I didn't feel this way at all at Matawan Auto. Leo was professional to explain each repair. My car went in sounding like a small motorcycle and left purring. I will definitely recommend and use them in the near future to have other maintenance repairs suggested.

Bought car in for alignment and axles. Spent $933 and received car back with a brand new loud suspension noise. They can't figure out what it is and blamed it on my lowered suspension. The car has over 50K miles with a whopping 1" drop and developed this problem immediately after coming off the lift here. Might have something to do with cancelling a $1500(!) brake job. This was my first and last time here. EDIT: car is being fixed somewhere else now: strut and new strut mount are both damaged, and again, it happened immediately after coming off the lift at this shop. A wheel alignment at this place ended up costing me several hundred dollars. Total scam, may end up suing.

Leo and his team not only fixed my car, which needed a lot of work, but got me the best price possible. I had other mechanics quote me a lot more. Great quality work for a great price. Highly recommended

Had to stop in when I lost my serpentine belt. They took care of me quickly and reasonably. They fixed the issue in my engine without trying to sell me anything I didn’t need. Great customer service and professionalism. I will use them again. Would recommend

Been riding with Leo for a while as a customer. Let him handle all the issues I’ve had with my cars. Always good service and you never feel like you’re being overpriced. Gives you quality service and doesn’t jack you on service or parts. Helped my wife out recently and now she swears by him.Highly recommended.

They really take care of you here. Honest repairs. No unneeded work or padding the bill I went in with what I thought was a rusted out exhaust system. They fixed one gasket and I was back driving a quiet car without paying a thousand for repairs I did not need I highly recommend them.

Dealt with Leo and always a pleasure dealing with him. Bought my tires online from Tire Rack and had his shop install them. Don't go to those other "tire specialty" shops as they always try to up sell. Straight to the point and no nonsense. He's priced reasonably and support a local business!

By far, the best shop and mechanics in Matawan/Aberdeen. Their prices can't be beat and their integrity is far superior to any of the area's competitors. I've been coming here for nearly 10 years without any issue. Don't waste your time going anywhere else (and overpaying in the process)- Leo and his staff are great.

I have a background in auto mechanics and do a lot of maintenance and repairs myself. However, there's plenty I cannot do. I have a hard time trusting mechanics and other services. That has not been my experience with Matawan Auto. This is a very fair and professional shop. Better rates than other shops in the area and performs the work exactly as I would expect or better. I highly recommend Matawan Auto. My wife and I are very happy with all the services and repairs we've had on our vehicles.

Originally met through Tire Rack. Ordered tires online, and had them installed. I had also asked for an oil change and NO surprises. They didn't try to oversell me. Brought my cars back there a few times, and recommended family. The experiences they shared were the same. Straightforward, and honest, and never padded the bill. I would highly recommend Matawan Auto.
