After tire installation mechanic didn’t install one of the wheel nuts back due to worn thread on stud, advisor knew about the problem when I contacted next day, but he failed to tell me about it at time of service. Travelled more than 20 miles with one wheel nut missing. They also told me that stud thread was observed damaged by mechanic and that they just decided to leave it like that and its ’’not a serious safety issue’’ and of course that they didn’t damage thread it “was like that”. I was shocked by all explanations. Never going back to Pep Boys for any kind of service.

Great service at Cartert NJ location I've had several services done to my vehicle at this location so far haven't had a problem.

The Manager (Ron) is professional and the mechanics are great, they're experienced, extremely helpful with any questions you have regarding the work or your car. I would recommend this shop, they're thorough, very informative with good work ethics.

My headlight went out and I bought a part, called them and asked them if they could put it in for me. I didn’t even have to make an appointment, I brought it right over and I was in and out in a half hour.

Person who received me really rude & quoted me very high, compared to Edison Pep Boys almost doubled with coupons applied. And the way he stares also felt weird.

Excellent customer service! The staff went the extra mile to make sure I had the best quality at the best price and even found me online coupons to help with the price.

I had a flat tire so I brought it to Pepboys for a check. The bead was the issue. The tire was removed the rim was cleaned the tire reinstalled on the rim then balanced. This was done in amazing time and needless to say I am completely pleased. Excellent customer service. Thank you.

I went here to get a tail light replaced. The service was prompt and I was out swiftly. Very professional and I didn’t have to sell a kidney to afford it. I would definitely go again!

Super friendly service, but it was extremely slow. It took over 3 hours for something I was told would take less than 2 hours. Nothing really there in the waiting area to make the stay comfortable at all. Pricing was reasonable. I just wish they let me know when I booked my appointment that they were short staffed... I would've gone elsewhere.

Very happy with their alignment services for my 2010 Toyota Tundra. Took me in same day and vehicle was finished in an hour. Also was fairly priced and didn't feel I was overcharged.

A cover under my car came loose and hanging about 6 inches from the ground. Stopped here on a Sunday since my dealer is closed and they fixed it in 10 minutes and refused to charge me. Really nice of them!

I went to you guys to Check AC in my Nissan great price for evaluation but the estimate 1650$ that I got to replace hoses and ac compressor was simply wrong and money grab I went to another shop and I got quote 270$ compressor was fine it needed oil and leak could be fixed with O- rings . This was definitely money grab. I would recommend always get second maybe third opinion. I would not recommend this place

I went to Pep Boys Carteret for oil Change service of my Honda C R V Car. The Service advisor listened me carefully and gave me deals of Repair and maintenance. The service was quick and satisfactory. The Service Advisor Fady also showed me the tire deals as I need replacement of my tires in a near future.

I had an excellent experience at this Pep Boys location. My car desperately needed four new tires and it was taken care of quickly and professionally on the day I visited. Ronald, Fady, and the entire team of technicians are simply great and I felt very comfortable handing them my keys so they could perform their work. The whole process was transparent and I was routinely kept up to date during my wait. They made sure to apply the current promotion, too, which helped me save some money. Service for an oil change was quick, they took my car in immediately. Representative was cordial and helpful. I came here a few months before to get my brakes changed and had a similar 5 star experience. Recommended.

I keep coming back here for the great service experiences I had so far. I brought both my cars here recently, each with a tire slowly losing air and in both cases they found punctures from nails and were able to fix it. Pricing was very reasonable and the mechanics worked quickly so I didn't have to wait for too long. I also had a great experience last year when I purchased a whole set of new tires and had them installed and balanced. I brought a set of new TPMS sensors, that I bought elsewhere, and the guys were nice enough to install them for me with no extra charge. The only improvement that I would recommend is the waiting area - just needs a few more nice chairs and a table and maybe a vending machine, but that's really just a minor complaint. Very happy to recommend this place for the great service + prices!

I brought my mother's car into Pep Boys of Carteret over the weekend on July 23 because she needed to fix up her car in order to pass inspection. She needed a new muffler and intermitent pipe and center pipe along with a new coil connector and I also asked them to do a oil change, tire rotation and a tune-up along with inspect the car to see what else is needed if anything. I asked for this inspection & tire rotation in the online appointment form and in person when I dropped off the car. I had to leave it overnight as it was Sunday and they had to wait on some parts which was completely fine. They called me on Mon evening letting me know the car was ready but I was at work so I wasn't able to pick it up until Tuesday morning. I picked it up and brought the car back home to my mother and noticed that the fluid levels(windshield & coolant) were basically empty but had some on hand in my garage so I filled it myself. I then noticed that the tires were not rotated as requested online and in person so I called them and spoke to Ronald who is the service manager and he told me to bring it back in which I did. I won't call him a mechanic but Ronald had one of his service techs (Julian) take the car into the shop and do the tire rotation which took about 20 minutes. My wife and I waited in the parking lot the entire time and Julian drove the car back out to the parking lot. He backed it into the parking spot so I would only see the left side of the car which was odd but didn't pay it much mind. Ronald (service mgr) gave me the keys and I was back on my way. I drove the car right back to my mother's house which is 3 minutes away and when I parked the car I noticed that my wife was staring at the right side of the car. When I got out my wife asked me what happened to the bumper. When I looked at the rear bumper it had a big dent in it and the bumper was also detached from the car. There were also white scratches and scuff marks on the bumper and the tail light. The white didn't look like paint but more so light concrete or cement. I immediately jumped back into the car and went back to Pep Boys. I went by the garage and noticed that there are concrete poles on each side of the shop doors so it looks like the tech hit one of those. My mom's car is an 05 Sentra which is basically a go cart(it's tiny) so he must've been annoyed that he had to stop working on another car in order to do that tire rotation. I say this because it's a deep dent and not just a graze. He must've been going pretty fast for it to leave such a mark and almost rip the bumper off. Why is there any need to drive a customers car like this? The service manager (Ronald) filed a claim and said that they(pep boys insurer) will call me to have someone look at the damage on the car to see if they are responsible to fix it but I have yet to receive any calls and it's been a few days now. I have called Pep Boys Customer Service but they just keep saying that someone will call me. I told the service manager and customer service that it is unsafe for my mother to drive the car like this since the bumper is basically almost touching the tire. All of the techs there seem really young & unprofessional and It really shows in their quality of work or should I say lack thereof. I've gone to mechanics for almost 25 years now and this is by far the worst experience that I've had by far. I highly doubt I'd ever go back to another Pep Boys I don't care how close they are. So long story short. Brought the car in for repairs and get the car back needing more repairs....Awesome!

Came for a simple oil change. When I got the car the gloves compartment was broken and cabin air filter was out. When I asked what happened the guy’s response was ,” It just broke”. Told me i have to buy a new gloves compartment. So, basically they broke my stuff and didn’t even apologize. Absolutely worst place ever.
