I went because my brakes did not respond well, the mechanic Tony changed the discs and the calipers went to test it and gave it to me, when I go out to try it I feel the brakes very low, so instead of raising the brakes a little more, he gets angry with me and returns the money, I did not want anything just to raise the brakes, I work 40 miles away on Route 78 and every day I see more than 5 accidents.
Shout out to the owner, Tony! Tony at Ray’s Auto is the kind of mechanic you hope to find but rarely do. I had massive car trouble and he took care of everything quickly, honestly, and with real care. He was straightforward about what needed to be done, didn’t try to upsell me or make the situation more complicated than it was, and had me back on the road faster than I expected. He even took the extra time to address my oil and re-align my car for me. Not to mention the parts were ordered, picked up, and then I had my car back the NEXT day!
You can tell he actually cares about helping people, not just rushing through another job. It’s hard to find a mechanic you feel you can truly trust, but Tony absolutely earned that trust.
Highly recommend Ray’s Auto to anyone looking for honest work, fair pricing, and a mechanic who treats you right. I’ll definitely be coming back.

This place is a complete scam, be careful. They promise “guaranteed work” but once they take your money, they’ll do anything to get rid of you and avoid responsibility. They don’t stand behind their work at all and they do sloppy, rushed jobs. Zero professionalism it feels like their only goal is to make quick money. Stay away

A full refund was never issued. The first repair was done and initially seemed fine after testing, but after a few days the exact same noise came back.
When I returned, Tony said he would help. However, instead of installing new parts, he reinstalled the same two wheel bearings he had previously removed, or possibly used other used bearings from the shop. The parts were clearly not new. He told me the job was completed.
If you offer a guarantee, then you are supposed to replace the parts with new ones. Why are you putting my old parts back on the car? If those parts were working, then why did you charge me $600 in the first place and promise to fix the issue? Those old parts were already faulty. It looks like you tried to mislead me, but you picked the wrong person to do that to.
When I tested the car myself, the noise was still exactly the same. I went back and told him, and Tony started yelling at me, refused to do any further work, and acted like there was no issue basically treating me like I was the problem. There were insults and aggressive behavior.
If you have camera footage, go ahead and show it let’s see if new parts were actually installed the second time.
I paid $600 the first time. Then I was only given $300 back and was kicked out of the shop.
I am a certified automotive technician. You cannot fool me with these kinds of practices. If you truly installed new parts the second time, provide the invoices and release the camera footage.
I am absolutely certain that the old bearings that were previously removed were put back on. You may be able to mislead other customers, but not me.
Because of this situation, I lost $300, and I had to go to another shop and pay another $600 to replace both front wheel bearings again. In total, this cost me $900 because of your actions.
I am warning all customers: record your vehicle during repairs, even if they are removing a single bolt, and stay present if possible.
I strongly recommend honesty and professionalism to this business.

Best mechanic in NJ hands down. Rose is incredibly friendly and patient in the front office and Tony is simply a master of his craft. You can tell he loves what he does and cares for his clients (and more importantly their cars!!) He explains the work he did to make sure you understand and makes recommendations for tune ups to avoid future problems without pushing any sales. Will keep coming back and recommending them since I know we're in capable and honest hands.
We got our oil changed last week (not at Rays) and found out while driving over the Bayonne bridge that it was leaking. Check engine light came on, oil warning came on and thankfully, we were only 5 minutes away from Ray’s. Tony and his team were able to quickly diagnose and fix our issue (other oil change place out the filter in upside down!) and helped my family get back on our way. Highly recommend this shop!
I went there because my engine came on. He found the problem quick plus found another that my other mechanic didn't find. He did a great. I recommend him. It's reasonable price.
It’s hard to find a mechanic you can trust, but Tony a local Bayonne guy which I also went to High School with, has definitely earned my business. This is my second time going to his shop. I recently came in for brake/tire service and Everything was transparent from the quote to the final bill. If you're looking for reliable, quality service I definitely recommend Tony.
I bring my ram van here. Very nice crew. Everyone is friendly. I love that they go and above to make sure everything little thing right. I would come back if I ever have car trouble in Bayonne.

Great experience with the service and cost, which was half of what the Subaru dealership quoted. Nice to have a qualified and honest mechanic shop in Bayonne.
I can't say enough good things about my experience here. I came in with a flat tire, completely stressed and unprepared, but Rose, Richie, and Tony went above and beyond to help me out. They were not only professional, but incredibly warm and welcoming—like I was part of the family.
Rose was kind and reassuring from the moment I walked in, Richie jumped right into action to help find the right tire for me, and Tony made sure it got changed quickly and safely, even though it was all super last minute. They treated me with genuine care and respect, and turned a stressful situation into something unexpectedly positive.

This was my 1st time taking my car to Ray's Auto Bayonne, in the corner of Broadway and W 38th street, and it will NOT be my last. I don't know the name of the mechanic that worked on my car but from the moment I took my car there and picked it up he was helpful and took care of me right away. He did a great job on my car. I appreciate that they broke down what needed to be done and how much it would cost. Their prices are reasonable and affordable. Rose, the young lady at the front desk, was very pleasant and kept me updated on my car. Again, I do apologize for not knowing the name of the mechanic that worked on my car, but I would give him, Rosa and Ray's Auto Bayonne more than 5 stars. Thank you.
I’d like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Tony and Rose at Ray’s Auto on the corner of Broadway and 38th. They have extremely fair pricing and amazing customer service. I was stranded outside my work at the end of a long day and hustled to the closest mechanic, and Tony immediately offered to meet me at my car and patch my tire while also giving me tips on how to change one on my own. I was very frazzled and Rose at the front desk was incredibly supportive, as well. 10/10 recommend, an excellent family mechanic!
