I trust Montclair Motorwerks with my car over any other mechanic. They are honest, do amazing work and will not try to convince you to do a service that's not needed like some other mechanics do. I got new tires and a new serpentine belt for a very good price. My car is running smooth like butter because of them. Definitely would recommend them to anyone who wants honest work done on their car.
I am a 79 year old senior woman. Had some health difficulties this year but I’m making it. I live alone and really need my car. I had let it go a little too long. Totally my fault and won’t do that again. I had to have some things done on my car and update my expired car inspection. I had previously been to a place to get a new tire and was totally scammed. Those people took two of my expensive tires. One of which needed no repair. The other of which I speculate they patched up. They may have resold both. (I should have asked for those tires back.) That place sold me less expensive tires. OK. It seems mostly likely those tires weren’t new and I didn’t need two. So I was wary of mechanics. Not so here. Right at the front desk everyone was and they are the most ethical, efficient, professional, respectful and kind human beings one will ever meet. They did the best job on my car ever. They were so very understanding of my situation. I went in the morning. They said the car would be ready that day and it was. Everything done A++. I don’t know how I got so lucky to find them but they are absolutely the best and most trustworthy ever.
These guys are awesome. I STUPIDLY put diesel in my car instead of gas. They flushed my whole system and had my car back to me same day-saving me from getting a new ENGINE!! Thank you Motor Werks!!
Had a somewhat good experience at this shop owner is a very chill dude who obviously knows what hes doing, but i had an issue when i brought in my vehicle for a low oil pressure light, they replaced my sensor and light came back on after 3 mins, they had told me that it will need a oil pump if light came back on. I decided to buy OEM Audi sensors to see if maybe they did not replace the sensors and after replacing no light has came back on After one full year of me replacing the sensors. They definitely did replace my sensor since sensor was clean and new but just reccomend the owner to replace all Electrical components with OEM parts since it can cause issues using Aftermarket. Great shop overall.
I purchased a transmission from Autozone and had you guys install this transmission in my 2005 Chevy Silverado. I came across some information that explains the duty and obligation of an auto repair shop 1. You charge me $100 for fluid but never detailed how much fluid was needed or how much was used, just $100 for fluid that’s what the invoice says 2. You charge me $100 extra for labor saying there was a lot of rust everywhere that amounted to a SURPRISE because this was not told to me when I dropped the vehicle off but was charged this $100 when I came to pick the truck up SO CONSUMERS BEWARE!
Really excellent experience. I have a hard time with garages and getting an oil change can sometimes be such a hassle. This place makes it super easy for a great price.

We had an issue with our car that prevented us from driving it far and stumbling across MMW ended up being serendipitous.
Mechanic was super transparent about what needed to be done and prompt at getting our car fixed when the parts arrived.
Will definitely go back.
UPDATE: Tire rotation was done quickly (within 2 hrs) and took up less of my day than other nearby service centers. Pleased with my experience here again.
2021: They were responsible and installed the under body parts on my car quickly. Had a great experience here. Will come back when I need something.
Montclair MotorWerks never fails to do a five-star job. Anytime you need anything done they are professional, helpful, and honest. Frankie and Ken are amazing. My girlfriend brough her car in for a nail in her tire. 15 minutes in and out. I've had my car serviced with them a few times and they always do a spectacular job. I've never met a mechanic that I have liked and trusted more than them.
Kenny and Franky are very fair, responsive, honest, and do quality work. I’ve trusted them with my cars (Porsche 911 and BMW 3-series) ever since I moved to Montclair. They are my go to mechanics, especially when it comes to European cars.

I’ve gone to Montclair MotorWerks twice now for minor issues: once for a tire patch and once for a burnt out turn signal bulb. Both times I received quick service that was very reasonably priced. Everyone I encountered was kind and friendly. I certainly felt taken care of, rather than taken advantage of.
The best. I've been getting work done here for years and they've kept my older car running great. They've fixed issues for me caused by both regular wear and tear and from damage caused by a pothole. The most straightforward and trustworthy mechanics I've ever met. I wouldn't want to take my vehicle anywhere else.
I live down the road from this shop so I already knew it existed. A few years ago my father bought a new car and handed down his BMW X3 to me.
Went to the dealership (the one next town over) for a simple oil change. Within an hour I get text with a video from the dealership recommending $7000 worth of work.
I of course declined and told them to just finish the oil change but when I picked up the car, you bet I drove straight to Montclair Motorwerks from there.
Ken and his team took a look at the vehicle and while some of the repairs recommended by the dealership were legitimate, others weren't really needed. The honesty was refreshing. Turned out the vehicle did need some extensive work (thanks Dad).
The car was ready within a few days and the price (which was still in the four figures to reflect the scope of the work done) was a fraction of what the dealership would have charged.
Additionally I was very careless in leaving something extremely valuable in the vehicle. One of the technicians found it and turned it over to Frankie for safe keeping. Anybody with questionable morals could have taken it and I wouldn't have known. When I picked up the car, it was there for me and while I was of course embarrassed, I was grateful.
I'm under no impression that BMWs are cheap vehicles to own and maintain. They aren't. But the high degree of trust I gained from my first encounter with Ken, Frankie an their team made Montclair Motorwerks my go-to since then.
I would give 5/5 for customer service to the woman by the counter . I called two weeks ago and was told to take my car this morning . Waited approximately two hours to be told I need to leave my car overnight or make an appointment for next Friday . My concern in, why was I told this approximately two hours after waiting?
Refuse to return!
Update- Received a voicemail from the shop expressing that they did look at the car. Sure they did, and no doubt the guy who looked at it was courteous which is why I updated to 4 stars . I would have no complaints if someone had told me within the hour my car needed to stay there or I need to schedule for all day service .
I’m not sure why you would say my car wasn’t there for more than an hour . I walked to “The Corner” cafe, dined in, walked to CVS, walked around all the aisles, returned back to the shop. I got to your shop since 8:40am.
My review is not to discourage anyone . There were many satisfied customers while I was there. This is just my experience and could be a rare one .
Updating as I used them again about 10 months later- Everyone here is friendly, kind, accommodating, honest and helpful. Always reconfirm they were the right choice every time I go!

MotorWerks undercuts the dealership by 30-50% AND their turn around time is amazing. They must work some very long hours.
I agree with the review above, if six stars were an option, they would have it.
I came in a few weeks ago on a Saturday with an emergency, needing some body work after a piece of the under carriage was damaged. This was after my own dealer wouldn't take me despite all the service I normally had done there. The folks here agreed to help me out despite being busy and quickly made the car safe to drive so I didn't miss going anywhere I had to be that weekend. They were fantastic and kind and were very reasonable with the charge for the service. It was a top notch experience and I'd be happy to bring my car there for future jobs as well.
Hello, for clarification, I did not give a higher rating to Montclair MotorWerks because my experience was very limited (renting a truck for a day). The woman who attended me was very knowledgeable about the process, respectful, and professional. So if I base the rating on my experience in renting a truck then this place would've gotten a 5 star. BUT, I have not experienced the other services that they have to offer so I rated the place as "normal" versus "meets or exceeds expectations". I hope that this review helps others to be open to doing business with Montclair MotorWerks.
I've been going to Montclair Motorwerks for the past 6+ years and I won't take my cars anywhere else. Ken is honest, professional, super-friendly, and importantly, willing to take the time to explain what the issues are & what my options are. Our large family has a few cars, from a vintage BMW M-Roadster to a run of the mill Volvo V50 wagon...even a diesel. Ken & his team service them all, saving me thousands of dollars over the years. If I want a particular tire or part, Ken will get it for me (or recommend a better/cheaper alternative). I know he's got my back & what more do you want from a mechanic?
Fantastic service. I took my sons car in while he was home from college. Needed quite a bit of work. They went through everything that needed to be done and more importantly what didnt (in spite of what a dealer had told us) even went around with new tires for as good a deal and selection as you would get at any tire chain. Highly recommend this shop.
Wonderful service!! Took my BMW here and not only were they very knowledgeable, nice and friendly, they diagnosed and fixed my original mechanics mistake in two seconds (something that has been extremely frustrating for a few months). I also had an “issue” with my hard top which turned out to be my mistake. They could have easily bullshited me with extras. Very honest, upfront, efficient and great prices. Thank you!!
My favorite place to get my Oil change done on my Mercedes. They are good and they are fast. Frankie gets me in and out and Kenny runs this very tight and professional all the guys are great. Highly recommend this place for any foreign or domestic vehicles.
The service was prompt and accurate. I brought my older Infiniti here and loved the service. Within an hour of dropping my car off, I received a call from Ken with a diagnoses and repair cost which I thought were fair. Lived the experience here and would definitely recommend here.
A great experience overall. Courteous service, fair price, excellent work. Brought my 2003 Jetta in for a vacuum hose leak and new spark plugs. Owner Ken made me feel confident and comfortable that he could get the job done at a reasonable cost. I'll be back to service my car here. I highly recommend this repair shop.
