Very unprofessional when I came by yesterday at 11:30AM and they were closed despite their Google hours stating they are open until 12. I will be taking my business to Metro Metal going forward after having driven 35 minutes on a Sunday to be met with lazy workers turning away customers. Also, it should be noted that I had to continue up the street and turn around to head home and when I came back by there was a white truck that was stopped in front of the entrance and there was a worker screaming profanities at the guy in the truck. Take your metal anywhere but here! Bad service. Bad people working there. Bad prices for scrap. The ONLY reason I tried going here was because it was the only one I could find open on a Sunday. Turned out to be a waste of gas. I will happily plan ahead for this and just do my scrapping on a Saturday.
I have been taking my scrap to welston for a couple years now. I love the guys, who always go above and beyond to help me, and I had undying loyalty for the place. Until today. My pay outs have been way lower than I expected the past several times. I am usually pretty good at predicting, and don't have to do math, but this time I decided to see what was up. Weighed all my precious and watched the scale. When I got my receipt, they had given me credit for about half of what I actually had in copper and aluminum. If it had been one or the other it might have been an accident. For both, I'm not buying it. Somebody is running game, and getting fat off my hard work. Shame on u, welston. Say goodbye to one loyal customer.
36 bucks for 6 batteries?first and last time i go to wellston scrap metal. I gave another scrap yard 3 batteries and got 45 bucks because they charge by the lb. I think all scrap yards should charge 0.25 if not 0.50 for each battery. not just car batteries either. tractor batteries as well. not satisfied at all.
They will rip you off!!!!!! Tipping the scales is a regular thing at this scrap yard! If you want to get your money's worth ,I would not go here ! find another place!
Definitely more competitive rates, if you haven't been recently I'd suggest stopping by and checking it out, I do enjoy the owner, employees, customers, and the environment alike. Whether you come in with a little bit or a heap, whether you have a disagreement or everything is agreeable it stays as good spirited as you are... If you throw temper tantrums and like to be hostile it can be as accommodating but I'd ask you just take that somewhere else. May have to stand on what you know and prepare to get proven right or wrong a few times but it will get determined before you proceed, I promise that. Even had spent some time in Fortune Metals when I was younger (a commercial scrap company that in the past has made a name for itself... Not sure about today) I've been wrong over half... Am looking for some work, doesn't have to be scrap... Carpenter by trade, electrician schooled, agile, climb n carry, crawler, and willing to work with others that are like wise human, handy, self aware, and can have discussions... I'm not a slave nor your.... I can also do your I'm not bout these chores list of horror. I don't expect anything on that, if you get this far... I need a truck and a barn too lol I'll keep my tires out of the tar, Good luck, don't be good and don't get caught.
Every time we come from Illinois over to your scrap yard before y'all close on Sundays they say your systems are down this is the second time I've came over before noon and it's never open need to change your times on your page very unprofessional
I have found that all of my experiences with this company have been positive and the employees were friendly and knowledgeable. So if you have any concerns that the owner is rite there in the office. Family owned I go there almost every day and so should you. Thanks!
Couldn't dump my dump trailer, you have to unload. Place was very disorganized, was given no direction on their process and when they lined me on the scale they made it a point for me to not be on there completely. Then, after finally weighing in, they informed I was to follow their scrap truck to another yard. Felt very uneasy with the entire atmosphere.
absolutely the last time i ever come to this yard.the only reason i came is because it's Sunday and i haven't been here in awhile thought things might be better.ha i was way wrong prices are almost criminal how bad they are.I will wait until Monday from now on.bad business..we all work way to hard to get ripped off
The guys/workers are helpful & diligent. The few times I've been to the scrap yard they have been persistent & constantly stay busy. The cashier ladies have only been consistent with undervaluing and depreciating the types of metal & the amount of weight we've brought in. Bad business
Competitive prices and helpful when unloading Steel. This place can be busy close to closing time so try to arrive at least an hour before. Thank you for increasing your Sunday hours.
Worse scrap yard in stl by far ...turn your scrap in and wait 40 min to get paid really was not even busy. Not to mention they are the only scrap yard that doesn't give you a metal scrap price over the phone don't waste your time here Vince jacks or southern will pay top dollarabd get you back on the road
Better price than we had gotten at the other place we have been going to, workers were polite and very helpful unloading the truck. This place was open when literally no where else was; and they are open an hour later on a daily basis than the place we had normally been going to... The yard was picked up, no trash or nails, etc. Very impressive and much appreciated. Will be going several times in the future.
Been dumping there for a few years now and always a great experience. I be forgetting not to get on ledge and employees always make sure they remind me lol I appreciate that. Dumped this morning and made some money before starting my other runs. Appreciate the service keep up the great work
The gal who wuz writing down my lbs. for my copper shorted me 16 lbs when I pointed it out,her and her vo worker proceeded to tell me how wrong I was. Also I called before I showed up and she told me that #2 copper was $2.95 and wen I got my reciet read $2.85. so all together WSM shorted me about 50 bucks

On an Easter sunday and not many places were open. If you want fast and easy, this your go to place. However we are pretty sure some items we brought out wasn't weighed out and counted therefore shorted. They provided a receipt as well as a list of what they will pay for. If there is a next time I will definitely go by their list and make sure it's counted correctly
I can't understand why anyone would say the prices are competitive for instance batteries always go for. 25 to.32 a lb they give you 7 a battery, the copper prices are half of what anyone else charges, just call other places like PCs on Broadway and you would be blown away at the difference in prices, the only thing good about the place is that there are open on Sundays, I can't understand why people sell their stuff there
It's not bad. It can get really screwy in the place when a bunch of people show up at once with trailers. A decent place though. A great alternative to Brock's, those idiots can kiss my ass. Another thing about wellston, its convenient unlike Brocks, they suck a you know what.
Went there several times to give a try but each time it got worst. A few rude workers especially on the small scale. Dirty place, scale never shows actual weight. not happy and that is why I will not come back again and I would recommend you to be very careful and don't expect a lot from them. I had to give al least one star, but that is not even close!
