Towed my daughter's brand new Car that was parked at the apartment complex that she lives at She was parked in a visitor's parking spot that the apartment manager told her that it was okay to park in. My daughter woke up to go to work this morning with no car. She called the tow company they said they did not have it. I called the tow company.They said they did not have it. My daughter called them back a third time. They admitted to having it. I have a feeling they were trying to keep it as long as they could so they can collect a daily fee. They claimed it was parked two spaces over in a illegal parking space. The old lady on the phone was rude and asked my daughter if she could read. My daughter got upset.The woman was really rude she told me she could tack on additional fifty dollar fee for my daughter being rude back. I recorded the whole conversation. I went and picked my daughter up to go get her vehicle.I saw where she parked the car.It did say visitor parking.The photo that the tow truck driver took was at a angle.You can't tell which one she was parked in. When we arrived to pick up the car her car was inside their garage. All other vehicles were behind a fence. They are running a scam here
This company illegally towed one of our 26 ft box trucks that was parked with permission on private property. There was no police report and the property owner didn’t call for the tow. They had us. Out of business for a week for that truck and all of our belongings were stolen from the truck. I will be contacting the authorities and the media. These people are crooks
I parked in a no parking zone downtown and had my car swiftly towed away by this company. They called me back the next day, charged me $400 cash, and returned me my car.
It turns out that when you have the law on your side, and what you're doing is legal, you can make a ton of money ransoming people and ruining people's lives over their transgressions.
10/10 customer service, would get extorted again.
I am NOT Kirk Hall but am his wife Carolyn Duckworth. I had a horrible experience today with this company. I left work today to go check on a client, (I work in the healthcare field), because she was not answering the phone last week and never returned my calls. When I didn't hear from her today I emailed my boss and told her I was going to do a wellness check on her because it was very unusual for her not to return my calls and I was very concerned about her wellbeing. I drove to the Senior Apartments based on the address she had in the files and parked my car because I was having trouble finding her building as I had NEVER visited her before. I walked around looking for her building and finally located it. The front desk clerk buzzed me in and told me she had physically seen the client today which gave me some comfort. When I left the building to walk back to my car I spotted my car being hauled away by Ninth Street Towing and immediately gave chase. The driver stopped and told me it would cost me $175 "cash" , (which I did not have), for him to "put it down". He said he doesn't accept credit or debit and told me to go to the nearby gas station and use the ATM. I asked for an explanation as to why he was towing my car in the first place and he told me I parked in a space without a parking permit. There was no sign in the spot where I parked but the sign was facing the space next to mine. I called the cops who didn't help. I called his boss (who sided with the driver). I called the leasing office who said they could do nothing because they gave all authority to the towing company since they contracted with them. I paid the money because I needed my car but I am certain this company is just a money grabbing operation. They had no valid reason for towing my car from a space where there was no sign. They had no valid reason for not accepting credit cards other than saying and I quote "we would have endless disputes from the credit card company". I understand why...!! I am not done with this issue but I'm here to say "BEWARE..!! Something is definitely fishy about this so called "Towing Company" They are going to respond and claim their innocence and my guilt but do yourself a favor and don't fall for it.
It's a miracle there are so many angry people posting about trouble retrieving their cars, when it seems Ninth Street doesn't actually tow vehicles when requested. They do not tow during the night (when most towing is actually needed), they say they will come "sometime in the next few days" but never do, and their "office" phone appears to be someone's cell?
Many other review responses say the person towed isn't the customer, it's the person requesting towing/the landlord/etc. Well, they're not providing satisfactory service for residents either!
No stars. Bunch of thieves. If yall aren't. Then you need to go tow. All the other cars with expired tags and no parking passes. But you won't. Cause you know no one will pick them up. And you won't get your 350.
Ninth Street towing is a hustle between them and the parking lots they serve and, your signs are not visible to all areas on the lots. Big rip off $ 350.00 tow that doesn't even make it to the tow lot.
They're supposed to work with the apartments around them, and apartment help them make money, and they give apartment staff rebates, and they tow your car without a tag, and they only accept cash, they don't accept credit cards, I think because they don't want to pay taxes, they don't want a record, poor people, dirty money. I called this company after *almost* getting towed with a question on towing laws in MO (I’m not from this state). When the woman answered, she already knew who I was as I called right after the incident, and she didn’t even let me ask my question before going into a spiel about signs and basically why they were right. I interjected twice with “that’s not why I called”, and I knew they probably get calls like this every day, so I tried to keep a nice, even tone and to simply find out if a car can be towed if an owner arrives on-site while it’s happening (in some places this is NOT legal). After saying she wouldn’t “give me a law”, sighing audibly on the phone, and treating me like a burden, I finally got to ask my question. She misunderstood the first time and again was super rude, then she finally listened and answered my question. I brought up how badly she was treating me at the end, that I felt I’d been professional and just had some questions, which led her to saying I’m “not a customer” and continuing to talk condescendingly.
The man who attempted to tow my vehicle was extremely kind. My problem is with the woman who answered the phone and didn’t ask my name, didn’t ask why I was calling, made assumptions, interrupted me, and more. I also mentioned that requiring cash within 15 minutes or otherwise a tow will occur is extremely inequitable and that it would be significant to offer electronic modes, like Venmo. She said they deal with too many claims and that that would make their jobs harder, basically. I tried my best to keep the conversation neutral-to-positive, but I feel the attitude I got back wasn’t what I gave or deserved.
Polite people, but $300 CASH ONLY is a scam, especially when you are just trying to get lunch at a place where there is never any parking, in and out in 10 minutes and my car was gone.
I understand that I made a mistake, but they try very hard to make this difficult on the people who own the cars they tow. No debit/credit, no ATM at their pickup location, and based on the location, who knows what they do with that cash, it certainly doesn't go back into the building.
Horrible company they towed my vehicle of a lot my boss owned so there for the vehicle wasn’t abandoned nor parked illegally so there for y’all need to return my vehicle from where y’all towed it from
HORRIBLE company. My son's car was towed by these people (and I use that term very loosely) but we beat the truck to the storage yard. Waited almost an hour to get his vehicle returned to him. $300 and 1 day later we discover the clerk never gave him his driver's license back. He called the first time and they said they had mailed it. 2 more days passed so he called to check on the DL and "Leon" says the clerk must have misplaced it and that she's looking for it.
Shady business, shady people, DON'T TRUST ANYONE THERE!
Also I knew full well my son parked where he wasn't supposed to. I never disputed the tow or the charges! My problem is the lack of professional with the office staff. I in no way feel like I nor my son is entitled to anything free all I ask is for some prompt and FRIENDLY customer service!
