Awful experience, it took the guy 2 hours to get to my husband when they were just 15 minutes away. My husband was stock in the snow obstructing a main road and a home entrance with a 53' trailer (the man of that home needed to take his wife to a Dr's appointment). Someone with a flatbed came to rescue someone else and since he couldn't pass by he helped my husband for free. The person from Shank's ATS came with a bad and discriminating attitude towards my husband who was just trying to do his job. And also just because he went there and did nothing he charged my husband $550 , the company will pay but it will be taken off from my husband next paycheck. So thank you for nothing.
PS: And yes we speak English and we know we are in America were everyone speak different languages and slangs too. 🙄
I called them to get a truck hauled from Waterloo Illinois an hour an half to my house. They’re good ppl and a great local business. The price was definitely reasonable and my truck made it home in the same condition I left it. If you need a tow they’re the guys to call.
Called them I was about 10 miles from there location and they said I had to call somebody else don’t see the point in having an emergency number if they are not going to do anything to help you
This guy is awesome. He arrived at the time he told me. While loading the vehicle, he took time to check out my truck. He told me what was wrong, what part was needed, where to get the part, and on how to replace it. I followed his advice and had the vehie back on the road next day. He is honest and nice. He will be getting more of my business. Any towing needs I will call him first.
Driver was towing a waste management trash down our road taking lots of branches down . I stopped him to inform him of the mess he left . He said haha 13 foot 6 not my problem . Wouldn't hire them .
VERY UNHAPPY! They said my car would be fixed in two weeks but I didn't get it back until after 4 weeks. When I called for updates I was told different little lies about getting parts and such. I searched for the parts and found them and could have had them within 3 to 5 days. They also didn't replace the headlight because they couldn't find one but I did find it on ebay brand new. BEWARE I do not recommend this place for any of your auto service.
I took my truck in to have the front brakes repaced because Macchens Dodge in Columbia, Mo said they needed replaced really bad. That was several thousand miles ago. The guy at Shanks said it was not an emergency and that I still had some pad left. I appreciate their honesty.
Very happy with the job Shanks did. Had a problem that I took to 2 different mechanics and a car dealership. None of them could diagnose my problem. Dropped it off at Shanks and he had it diagnosed in 5 minutes. made an appointment to have it fixed the next week and the car has been working perfectly since. Will take all my cars here for oil changes, etc.
I was involved in auto accident and Mike showed up and saved the day! He pulled my car out of the ditch with a smile and was very professional! I am on a road trip and they found me in the middle of nowhere Missouri! Thanks Mike!!!
I’ve used Shanks Auto & Truck Service since they have been in business. Mike and his mechanical staff know vehicles inside and out. They know what’s needed for the fix and know how to get it done. They’ve been able to quickly repair my daughters car that was plagued with mechanical issues. We would get it back & something else completely different would pop up. He finally got all of the issues resolved and the car has been performing great every since.
I’ve also used Shanks towing service a lot as well. They’ve always arrived promptly and ready to get the vehicle loaded up and back to their shop. I had to use their towing service yesterday after being side swiped on Highway 21. I was unsure if my car could safely driven after the side swipe accident. Shanks sent a knowledgeable driver & mechanic, Garrett, to assess my vehicle. He inspected all of the damage and deemed it unsafe to drive. I was taken back to the shop and waited for my ride to arrive. They even helped me get all of the groceries out of my trunk, while my car was still loaded on the roll back. Mike himself came out to assess all of the damage to my vehicle. I’ve dealt with him several times with family vehicular accidents & he has always been able to accurately diagnose whether the vehicle was a total loss or repairable.
I will always refer any of my friends or family to experience the honest and
trustworthy work of Shanks Auto & Towing.
I do not recommend Shanks. They were extremely slow to arrive. They stated 15-20 minutes and were located just 10 minutes away, but showed up 60 minutes later. They NEVER called and updated us on what was taking so long. Communication is very important. We called multiple times and they said that the driver was coming. What they should have done is called us back while we were stranded on the side of the road and stated that they were not going to be there in 15 minutes, or yet even 30 minutes and let us know an exact time. Very frustrating. Auto Plaza in Desoto contracts them out, but if you have any choice choose another local towing company that has a better response time and COMMUNICATES with the customer if they are going to be a lot later than they state.
