I was passing through the Mound City, Missouri area for work when I had an unexpected flat tire about 15 miles south of town. I had moved into the left lane to give space to a roadside mower, and unfortunately picked up a 4-inch bolt in my rear tire. Being from out of town and unfamiliar with the area, I didn’t have an appointment or any local contacts — but I called DOUBLE D TOWING & AUTO LLC, and they were an absolute lifesaver. Despite being in a rural area, they arrived incredibly fast. The gentleman who helped me was friendly, professional, and made a stressful situation feel manageable. After getting to a tire shop, I learned the tire was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. That shop didn’t have my size in stock, but they recommended DOUBLE D again. Even though DOUBLE D didn’t have the tire either, they didn’t hesitate to help. They checked availability for me right away — no waiting, no hassle — and pointed me to nearby places that might have what I needed. They went above and beyond, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Had a tire blowout at 5pm on a Saturday while traveling. Locals recommended Double D. I see why. Dale was awesome. He drove to us in less than 15 minutes, changed the tire, made sure the others had adequate air and didn't try to sale us stuff we didn't need. Even checked the other tires for wear and problem spots. Great service. 5 stars for sure.

A++ HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Don't be fooled by some people's foolish reviews. I recently found myself stranded near M ound City Missouri and this company among others came up on a Google search after calling several other companies we wanted to charge me over $175 just to come jump start a battery I can only understand that no one is in business to not make money that there is usually a trip charge involved but I was less than three miles from another local companies location. DOUBLE D TOWING was prompt courteous and professional.

brought my van here bc it was having issues with the battery, took them 6+ months to finally get it back to us just to say it was our back door that was the problem, it was still having issues so we took it to someone else to get it looked at, took him less than a day to figure out the real problem was the key being turned too far when we were turning the van off which was why our battery was being killed. wouldn’t recommend this place they take forever to get to your vehicle and don’t even get it fixed.

Avoid this place at all costs. I brought my truck in for repairs, and after weeks of zero progress, I had no choice but to take it elsewhere. The owner seems incapable of controlling his temper, and from the way he conducts himself, you'd think he takes pride in it. Even his own employee warned me about his explosive anger, which speaks volumes. The owner has openly admitted to his behavior — it's not just obvious to customers, but to everyone around him. This isn't just unprofessional — it's hostile, and it’s no place to trust with your vehicle or your time.

Traveling back home to Wyoming, my AC compressor blew. As a young woman traveling alone, I was nervous and completely out of my element. Dale and his crew were so kind and did everything to get me back up and running that same afternoon. I was safe and well taken care. My GMC Sierra's transmission went out on a Saturday afternoon on a trip down I-29 back to KC and a quick search showed Double D towing was open on a saturday. Stopped in and Dale was quick to pick up my truck and take it to a shop in St. Joseph and was very reasonably priced and helped me in a dire situation. Thank you Double D towing!

Took them about 3 to 4 weeks to install a u-joint on a GMC suburban, sorry but anyone who knows anything about mechanics knows this is ridiculous. We had to make two long trip to get the vehicle back because they didn't hold up to their promised time for repairs. Is there a negative 5 stars??? Turned a bad situation into a worse situation, Run!!!!

We had trouble with our pickup on the interstate, rolled into town and found Double D automotive. Dale was very helpful and a knowledgeable mechanic who stopped what he was doing to help us out and get us back on the road!!!

Was friends with owner and son actually the whole family 23 years.i I helped roof his home tiled his bathroom carpeted his whole house for free. He has done many repairs on my vehicle's all didn't go to well. Some were a disaster. I had 2 Dodge vans I asked him to keep for me and he told me it wasn't a problem now that I have sold them to my uncle.Dale ( Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde ) throws another temper tantrum. Threatening me. Just goes to show how some people really are. We took a friend's van to the shop to have a fuel leak fixed after 7 months yes 7 months my friend decided enough and I called and told Dusty that were coming to get his van. Upon arrival I went in to ask Dale (Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde) if he owed anything and he went off. I was fresh out of. surgery from colon cancer and he acted like he wanted to hit me.Just beware there are other shops in the area that won't treat you this way. Dale I'm so so disappointed at you please take your meds

My husband, 3 year old daughter and I hit the WORST potholes 6 miles north of Mound City. We called double D to get some help and I was so focused on getting out Kid off the highway, I forgot to ask if he took AAA which was fine if he didnt I also had cash I just wanted to double check. Once he got to us we asked him if he took AAA, and He got seriously upset and nasty with us immediately started calling my husband unnecessary things and just turned around and left us there before we could even tell him that we still wanted his services we would just pay different way. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I absolutely recommend you call MC auto instead!! He was professional, fast and effecient! Hes worth giving the business too since you have to.

So much to say and VERY grateful!! Dale is an AMAZING human that I have never met in person! It was a Friday at 4:15pm and my 18yr old daughter broke down on on the interstate and she was by herself!!! Tell me about a moms worst nightmare!! I was able to call Dale when I was 2hrs away and he helped!! He could have very easily turned her away or over charged us. But no, he was honest and made my daughter feel so comfortable when she was terrified! He stayed longer then close and made sure her car was safe for her to be on the road traveling. It’s good to know there are still good souls out there! Thank you Dale! Thank you Double D Towing & Auto! You will never know how grateful I actually am!

The company did a incredible job of getting our truck back on the road. Blown tire on I29 replaced in 1 hour at a fair price. Thank you for your excellent service! No one will go with out toilet paper today! Jim Clayton Clayton Paper

I cannot stress enough how awesome this guy is and his services. We are not from Missouri or Mound city and our tire blew on a Sunday on our way to Nebraska. He was nice enough to tow our car (in a timely fashion) and even able to install a new tire on our vehicle as our vehicle did not have a spare. HE IS AWESOME!!!

I was from out of town. Dropped car off because it was over heating. They had car 3 days, there was a hose leaking that they repaired. I didn't even make it 90 miles before it started over-heating again, when I opened the hood there was coolant everywhere. Do not recommend. When I contacted I got a sorry. No offer for a partial refund or service coupon if there was ever a next visit. Poor customer service and poor vehicle service experience. Paid $205.66 for labor & materials.

Call MC Auto instead, who is super nice. Double D gets all his cop friends to send people to him, overcharges you, and damaged my car in the process so it was undriveable. Last winter I spun off the road in icy conditions into the snowy ditch. It was very cold and getting dark and I was waiting on my insurance company to come out to tow me, but they were really backed up and it was going to be an hour until they arrived. Meanwhile, a cop came to my window to see what was going on. The cop urged me to call Double D Towing, said it was a local guy who did good work. When Double D arrived, he and the cop greeted each other making it clear they were friends. Without saying a word to me, Double D hooked onto my car and pulled me onto the nearest exit ramp (less than 1 mile), charged me $235, and left. I started my car and couldn't steer AT ALL to even drive a few feet. Called my family who did some googling and found the nearby MC Auto, who only charged me $100 to tow 8 miles. Then MC Auto kept his shop open late to figure out what was wrong. Turns out Double D had hooked his towing equipment to the **tie rod** of my car, bending it and misaligning the tires. This is a towing company that hooked his towing equipment to the wrong part of my car. MC Auto was able to fix it for me for a very reasonable price and was kind enough to send me photos of the damage. I reached out to Double D to explain the damage, and he yelled and hung up on me. I'm assuming someone at his office talked him down because later he sent me the money for the damaged part via PayPal. Later here I am having issues with the CV axle and lower control arm of that tire and it's possible they were also affected by that botched tow job.

We had a tire blow out at the beginning of a long road trip vacation, with 3 little kids. Double D towing came and picked us up along the interstate, towed us back to the shop and replaced our blow out. He also checked another tire that we were suspicious about, he found a hole and fixed it. The whole process took right at an hour. We are so thankful Double D was there to help us out.

My partner hit a deer late at night. He needed a tow. Was located 15 miles NW of St. Joseph. The driver insists on taking the car to his impound lot in mound city, where there is only one repair shop (owned by the same company), and no services (such as car rental, choices of hotel) vs the 10+ body shops in St. Jo and 20+ hotels. Not to mention he would have charged impound fees on the car. I insisted that my partner get dropped off at the dealer in St. Jo instead. As retaliation, we were charged an exorbitant amount of money for the tow. The dealer said we could keep the car there for as long as we needed to - it was no problem. Don't why everyone else liked this, guessing fake reviews. Pretty upset that the hwy patrol recommended these folks.

So had to have my truck towed in to get fixed. They came quick and the owner used his truck to tow my camper to a camp sight while he diagnosed and worked on my truck. Very friendly and it was unfortunate that I broke down but couldn't have asked for a better company to deal with. Wish everyone was as good at business as these guys.

Broke down on the way home to NE Nebraska the day before a snow storm. Called in around 2:00 pm and had my car towed, parts brought in from St. Joseph and car repaired by 5:00pm so we could get home before the snow hit. Great experience would HIGHLY recommend to anyone. Honest, affordable and efficient.

I was pleasantly suprised that I would like an impound after getting my car from them. My car came to them needing a new rim n 2 tires they did an excellent job getting it ready for me to pick up. However the owner explained my car was accidentally backed into while in their care. They more than made up for it by letting me have my car at no charge. Such an honest n loyal company to do business with. I would def recommend if you need a tow in Holt Co. Look nowhere else but Double D. Its great knowing their are still honest n reputable companys, tow companys at that.

Great company and great service. I hit a deer Thanksgiving morning and couldn't have asked for a better tow company. Response time was quick, and they helped make my car drivable back at the shop so I could finish my trip home for the holiday. Very reasonable and fair rates too! Definitely recommend this company.

I hit a deer on the way to the Kansas city airport, it was super scary! Double D rowing & auto came very quickly, loaded my car quickly and helped me calm down and work with insurance! Dale was the sweetest guy ever and took me to the airport which was WAY too sweet! I would 10000000% recommend them for any auto and towing needs! The customer service is incomparable!

This place is awesome. My husband and I ran out of oil on the side of the interstate while traveling home to Arkansas with a camper trailer and they sent a very helpful man (wish I knew his name) to bring us oil and he also waited to make sure we got took off okay and when our truck didn’t start he pull started us to get us back on the road. And he only charged us for the price of the oil. Highly recommend!!!

Blew a tire on the side of the road while on my way to KC last week. A passing vehicle stopped and recommend Double D. I thought at 6:30 on a Monday evening a new tire was going to cost me an arm and a leg. Rolled up to the shop with a donut on and they were there waiting for me. The guy was great, very personable, and very reasonable on prices. He was so competitively priced I actually swapped out my other rear tire while I was in there. 10/10 service and would recommend to anyone.

Yesterday I had my tire blow out traveling North on I-29 and was worried about being charged an arm & a leg for not only tow service but a tire replacement. The gentleman, I believe his name to be Dale the owner, serviced my vehicle with a brand new tire and tow service to his shop. You definitely don't find too many honest business men who actually know what they're doing and don't charge a fortune. Highway patrol referred him so that in and of itself tells you something. Quick and efficient service with honest pricing, you can never go wrong!

Passing through Mound City, MO our family had car trouble. A local gas station recommended and contacted Double D to help us. They towed our car and when the unique part was not stocked at any parts store nearby it was brought in from Kansas City. We were back on the road the next morning and made it home safely. Other local people we met had only nice things to say about Double D.
