Easy access to the yard. Was waiting in line and a worker came and asked what I had. He said he could help me and showed me where to go. Workers were super friendly, helpful and polite. I called several place around and this place had best prices. Was 1st time there. Will be dealing with them again.
UPDATED REVIEW: Tried to use again since my last trip was nice but this time was terrible! As everybody is doing away with mask mandates these guys went the complete opposite way! I was there 3 months ago and was able to sell a whole vehicle with no mask but this time they wouldnt even let me sell aluminum cans without a mask. Normally this isn't a problem because we all used to have masks in our trucks for this but like i said everyone is doing away with masking. But since one wasnt required last time one would assume you wouldnt need one. WRONG. I was turned away. Makes no sense! And the staff this time was pretty rude. I guess I pulled to far forward for their liking in the line and they made me flip around. So after waiting over 20 minutes and being told to turn around I was turned away. Just a terrible experience.
OLD REVIEW: Quick and easy even for a first timer. Awesome staff that point you in the right direction.
Slow and inefficient overall. Waited for 40 minutes in a line. The line is the only reason I knew where to go there aren't any signs looks like all scrap metal goes through same lane. Stray nails made me uneasy. I'm sure prices are decent in comparison. ..... the staff was very kind and the man that helped me opened another lane to help me sense I didn't have much so there's that. .....
Waited in the office to talk to someone for ten minutes. No one answered. When we went to some of them men we saw unloading a truck, I tried to ask them questions and was blatantly ignored. I can't tell you if their prices are decent or not because I couldn't even make it that far. I refuse to be disrespected in trying to initiate a business transaction. Poor customer service.
moved here not to long ago from St Louis and they were the second scrap yard i called and was sold by the very nice receptionist they are more than fair on there price they gave me over 5 times as much as mccoys scrap yard did i had brass shower valves with a little plastic on them mccoys scrap yard offered me over the phone maybe 25 cents a pound then i came to Springfield iron and metal and they gave me 1.55$ cent's a pound there scales are very accurate i am a plumber that gets different metals at my job and all i have to say is this was the first and now only scrap yard i will ever use in Springfield. thank you guys for being very fair and i appreciate doing business with you. i can honestly say i have been to many scrap yards in St Louis and they were better than any scrap yard i have been to there as well
There are other options in Springfield. Avoid this place at all costs. I believe I got $13 for about $35 or more worth of copper. It weighed 1.5 pounds less on their scales than on mine, amongst a few other shady things.
Slowest process that I've ever been through with the scrap metal recycling center. Waited well over an hour and there were only three in front of us. Then the top it all off they write checks. They don't do cash like everyone else I've been to.
Top notch service where you take the smaller loads older gentle men checked me out. He was fast I didn't know what a couple things were he explained what they were was very polite . and I would say they will give you the best prices in town. Bravo spfd Iron and metal !
in all my years of working on cars and recycling metal , never have i come across the service level i received here. new to the area , i received friendly courteous service and the whole process was very streamlined, with acceptional notice to the crane operator who precisely picked things off the trailer
I can not say it enough if you have time and want real cash and nice ppl to deal with all around. They have helped us many times separate our load due to us not knowing. Always left with a smile.
1st time had a long line, but fortunately it moved rather quickly near closing time. Workers were entertaining and very helpful.
2nd time no line, quick & easy breezy.
This is a great scrap yard. Just make sure you have an id and a bank account because they give paper checks. Highly recommend them though. Easy to use.
Been going there since they opened. At one point they have me a springfield iron and metal shirt. This is the best scrap yard around hands down. That's the only reason there may be a line at time...thank you.
Manager was very rude. Demanded I wear a mask but he himself didn't have or want to wear a mask. Was treated horrible and was profiled. Do not use this scrap yard, they are very prejudice.
Great place to deal with and the ladies up top where very helpful. After having a bad experience at McCoy iron and metal I went here and they was very nice and helpful.
The guys who check small amounts of scrap metal are easy going and this place will give you probably the best deal for your scrap than any other place in town
