I had an extremely disappointing experience at this recycling center as a first-time customer. Instead of receiving basic guidance or courtesy, I was met with hostility. The elderly lady at the front was openly rude and dismissive upon arrival. As a new customer, I was not aware of how the center operated. The crusty old guy spoke to me with an unnecessary attitude that made it clear he had little interest in helping someone new to the process. For a facility that serves the public —the lack of patience, courtesy, and basic customer service is unacceptable. New customers should not be made to feel like an inconvenience. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. The website says they’re happy to help new customers. Yeah right. Pulled in and the old lady at the window refused to look at us. After a few minutes of being ignored a nasty old man came up to me and said “you can get out of the car and help!”. I apologized and said I had never been there before and he was outright rude.

Thank you for recycling so many different items. We appreciate that someone is taking recyclables!

Nasty old guy there that always giving people attitude. Told to cut it and not gonna do the work for me. Could have said it a lot nicer, I’m not getting a penny for this. Other people is a lot nicer there, just that one person constantly have no manners.

They have the friendliest, most helpful people

Employees are very helpful when dropping off over 100 ibs of shredding paper.

I've been taking my cans and plastic as well as some electronics, books and magazines for years. The employees are friendly and helpful. I appreciate having a place to recycle these items as most bins have been removed from around the cities I live closer to due to people dumping their trash in them.

Caught cheating on weights! I would give a negative 10 if I could because on 8 25 2021 at 10 a.m. they were late opening and someone came in, looked like from another store and he was fairly nicely dressed not friendly of all. There was one person before me and while that person unloaded I saw the guy stretching his leg out and putting his foot on the scale while doing something on the computer. At the time I just noticed it and I'd already been there an hour waiting for them to open so I was in a hurry to get out of there. I had scrap aluminum and I had a bigger load than what I had had the previous two times and yet my gross weight was 20 lb less. I started thinking of weights later and trying to figure out what he was doing and then I realized he was setting the scales and his foot was putting extra weight and he was hitting Tare on the scale. I used my handy-dandy scale at home, put some weight on it and hit Tare and weighed an item, then I compared it with clearing my scale and then weighing the same item. That's when I figured out what he was doing. When you have weight on the scale when you Tare it, your total weight is less. I got cheated. I had never experienced this before with the regular guys working in Columbia. I figured this guy came from Jeff. City, he was not happy of having to open up in Columbia, probably a manager, but he's a cheat and a crook. So anyone doing business in Jeff City beware and anyone doing business in Columbia also beware and watch what they are doing. Again I stress I've never had any suspicion or seen anything out of the ordinary at the Columbia store except for this one morning with this odd guy coming in and opening up an hour later than normal. Just plain Crooks and the state lets them operate like this!

Horrible business. No one is ever there, despite claiming "open hours". If you don't have the manpower to be open, then at least do the decent thing and update your so called business hours.

Super easy set up for recycling. They’ve cleaned the place up and it looks so nice now, too! We recycle cans for my dad, and the guys always help us with the obnoxious amount of bags we bring in. They are patient with us and have even helped show my teenager what to do to cash out on his own and everything! It’s always an adventure for my kids when it’s time to go there!

You drive right in and unload your vehicle. They will also help if needed.

The owner is incredibly rude and nasty to those dropping off items. There’s been several of us who have had negative experiences here.

The first few times coming in here were quite intimidating and stressful, due to poor communication on how the whole process went and little patience. BUT once I had been there a few times and figured out how to help the drive through recycling process go smoothly the man working became much more inviting. He helped with the boxes and even made small conversation a few times. If you take the time to pay attention and learn how the drive through and recycling process works, it makes the workers lives much easier resulting in a more positive experience for everyone. It just takes a little patience and communication on both sides. They are doing great work and I am grateful to have somewhere I can recycle boxes and other waste.

John is a great asset to this company .we come here regularly mainly due to how friendly and nice everyone is we especially like talking with John. I highly recommend New World to everyone

Nice folks, I would give it five stars but the layout of the parking lot/drive thru gets a bit tight for those who have to wait their turn in line. The workers may appear rude or abrasive but once you break the ice they've pretty cool. If you do go and have a good load to take bring along some patience as well you might have to wait a bit.

I appreciate that Jefferson City has somewhere where concerned citizens and businesses can recycle, but be prepared to wait in line to drop off your recyclables

Rude people. Saying Im the cause of the city complaining on them. Not me I put the trash in the correct can with the lid down. I go complain to the lady in the office. She tells me to never come back. These people are lazy and rude. Blaming others of their work.

A little wait, but efficient once inside.

I just want to thank them for keeping our Environment safe they are very Pleasant and Helpful they are doing a great job keeping our planet safe I Recycle just about anything that can be used thanks again be Safe

Extremely rude for no reason except they did not do their job by emptying outside bins! Yelled at my husband and myself for trying to put plastic in FULL bins and giving US orders! My only recourse as an older woman was to tell him to F***Off. Recycle at your own risk!

They recycle stuff... that's about all I can say. If you want a fun, enjoyable time to socialize with wonderful people, this is not the place for you. Typical recycling place, no standards for workers or customer service.

rude he found a few things of trash and refushed to take cans i will never return. Only one truck behind me i even offered to go thru it.

In my experience most recycle employees are rude and unprofessional, comes with the industry, think about how terrible their jobs are.

Exceptionaly rude staff. It's a good thing they're one of the few recycler choices in the area because based on their social skills, they'd be closed.

Only place I can go to get paid for cans in town. Tried 3 times to do can drop-off with my son, they only have room for one vehicle at a time so we had to leave when it was taking so long. Then, we finally came back when no one was there--4:15, and the guy told me they're closed. Very disappointed 5 year old.

Quick, easy drive through for scrap aluminum cans. $0.40/lb as of 4/29/16. Many other items accepted as well.
