I used them after I hit a deer just outside of Winona. Winona PD suggested them and I agreed. We had to go from Winona to Lake City. I asked the driver of the tow truck how much it would be. He stated around 550.00. I said ok.. Once we got to Lake City it now became 750.00. Why it went up, who know other than they are crooks..
A week later my insurance company adjuster calls and asks why the tow bill was so high... I said I had no idea as they quoted me one price and charged me a different. He stated that when he asked the company for an itemized bill they gave him the run around and never provided him with one.
I plan on filing a complaint with the state.
I would stay away from this company.
Was the easiest tow I’ve ever done. Called, had the tow truck there with in 20 min, loaded up, away we went. Super nice driver, very good price. Definitely would use them again
My sister and brother-in-law got in an accident on Wednesday during the snow storm. They were moving and pulling a camper. The camper was destroyed and the trooper wouldn’t let them hang out to go through the “pile” to find their things. This company went above and beyond, they went thru the pile of camper pieces and things to recover some very important items, including my sister's wedding dress and jewelry. Thank you, thank you for spending the time to look and returning them.
My car started on fire about 10 miles from their shop, I lost everything in that fire, including the car, after the police showed up. They called these crooks to come and tow the car off of the road. no big deal, when I went to bring them the title to keep the car they tried charging me $400, for the tow. mind you we were probably 10 miles from their shop. Normally you just exchange the car for the cost of the tow, they kept my car and still charged me $200 don’t ever do business with these people. the next time I’m in the area and I’m having car troubles. I would honestly rather walk home. When I asked The tow driver, how much the bill would be he just said I don’t know. I don’t know you’ll have to take that up with the guys in the office. If I would’ve known they were going to rake me over the Coles like this, I would’ve just picked up the car myself…
The gentleman who answered the phone sounds like he has a mouth full of food, you can hardly understand him. Their rates are significantly higher than Gordies.
Worst experience I've ever had buying a used part. The took days to return calls. Sold me a bad part after i questioned them to make sure it was good. They lied repeatedly then when i called after finding out for sure it was bad. They lied again and again and wont exchange it, return it or return my calls. Horrible place!!!
Our business started working in the Rochester area, Plainview to be exact. I ordered some parts from these guys hoping to start what would turn into be a long-standing business like I have with yards up north. The good thing is with the initial man that I dealt with us quite kind, cordial, and polite. The delivery driver was great. I left a delivery driver a tip, and it’s surprise them so much that the office called me to make sure that was my intention. The downside, however, is that one of the parts that I ordered ended up being defective. When my office manager reached out, he clearly got somebody else who told him that they wouldn’t have sold the part, that they wouldn’t have delivered the part to us, sorry, and that were clearly mistaken because it wasn’t them - even though I had a receipt. Unfortunately, the parts I bought have to be done in pairs, one bad means I couldn’t use either of them. Not only was an absolute waste of time and money, but it caused to delay in getting the customers car back on the road. That part I can understand, business is business. The inference that we were trying to pull one over on them; the insistence that they wouldn’t have sold us the parts that we have the stickers for and the receipt for - that’s just plain wrong!
I had a Heater Hose Break and I called them to see if they could tow me to the dealership to get the truck fixed . Explained to them I had a 50ft gooseneck trailer attached to my truck . They sent out 2 trucks and towed both of them . Was very reliable and got it done quickly. Would use them again if I needed too.
So my car got towed by them which I understand isn't really there choice but it was an such a terrible expirence. First, woke up to car not being where it was, started having a panic attack since it's my only form of transport and I did not have any where else to park it ( even though many others around my place do the exact same thing). My boyfriend calls the place asking how much it'll be, mind you its less then half a mile from our house, they said it'd be 200 dollars! Obviously we where surprised since no other towing place that ive seen would have cost that much. We told them how important this car is, and i know they are "just doing there job" but if you're the one going to be giving customer service over the phone, act like it. No compassion and "could care less" attitude. We go there (I was lucky enough to have my mom give money for us to get it back since we had no real other choice since the price would just go up every hour it wasn't picked up). We go and place is complete disgusting. We paid it, and then the guy who was leading us to the lot it was at was driving ON THE WRONG SIDE of the road. We where in the right side while just watched and he seemed to not care. Granted there was no oncoming traffic at the time but if someone randomly turned into his lane, what then? Awful people, awful place
If I could give them less than 1 star, I would. They have a monopoly over the town of Winona and use that fact to treat their "customers" (willing or unwilling) like the trash they collect in their lot. Terrible service, unethical business practice, and truly rotten to their cores.
Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you! We waited for a different towing company for an hour and a half and then called Borkowski. They picked us up within a half hour. The dispatcher kept us updated on the eta.
I had my transmission go out near tow. They came out hauled me and my little boy and truck home. Experience was just fine . The price was fine and it was after hours.
Overall experience was very unpleasant and unprofessional. Made a call to discuss their hours and how much and the individual was very rude about their answers and provided INCORRECT information about how much it cost to get the car out and their daily fee for "storage". Went to the place to pick up the car and it was filthy and messy. Tried engaging in conversation with one "worker" while another figured out the bill. The "worker" Jake ignored us and just sat there on his phone. This "worker" ended up showing where the car was and tried to thank him for the "help" with shaking his hand and he just said "yup" and looked at us like we were stupid.
Obviously I'm not please because they towed my car, but they made sure to make it an all around negative experience. The office was incredibly dirty and unpleasant to be in. None of the four men working behind the desk wore face masks. The towing fee was twice that of any reasonable fee. They know that they're the only towing company in Winona, so they certainly aren't concerned with customer service or fairness.
Got me my bike after a crash on September 24th and I had the bike within a couple hours of going down. They were able to get me my bike and everything i left at the scene when I went to hospital. They had the bike on a nice trailer.
Would have given 5 stars but $270 for having bike in their possession for 3 hours and trailering it a couple miles seemed a little steep to me.
I've never used your business before. I was looking for a used auto parts place and found you guys and thought I'd look at the reviews. All of your reviews are normal, one thing though that I don't see anywhere else is the fact that you make excuses for your bad reviews. I don't know, seems a bit unprofessional to me, all other business' say sorry for the inconvenience and then kindly ask them to message them one-on-one for any questions or concerns. Just getting the vibes that they'll toss you around like a ragdoll until they get what they want.
I've had three tows from Borkowski Towing in the past couple of years -- one emergency and two to repair shops. The drivers have always been professional, friendly, and on time. The costs have been reasonable.
Was headed to Apple Valley and made a wrong turn, ended up in Winona, on a dead end road and decided to pull a you turn, underestimated the depth of snow on the side of the road and got stuck in on the side of the road. Called 911 and they sent these crooks out. A decision that would end up costing me $150 plus tax, just to literally pull my car two feet out of the snow onto the solid street. Didnt have my cards and the driver decided to hold my car hostage until the fee was paid. I would not recommend these guys at all!!!
I'm very grateful that this establishment was willing to help me with reclaiming my personal items from the vehicle in which normally would have been probably been let go as a write-off for it being able to pick up due to a major financial burden. And for the simple fact that the items were the last of any memoirs and keepsakes that I have left. That belongs to my deceased mother. I hope that I will still have an opportunity to get the vehicle back as well. I know that there are angels all around me and everything happens for a reason. So with that , I want to say thank you for allowing me to regain my possessions . And for be so understanding and compassionate. For that I am grateful. God bless.
Borkowski Towing answered the phone and were amazing and kind when my daughter got stuck in the blizzard. Thank you folks for your skill and care in getting my daughter her car and safely back on the road the next day. You eased a worried mom's heart.
If I could give less than one star I would! Their supervisor personally hooked up to my vehicle was rude and unprofessional! Ignored my explanation of the situation and held my car ransom unless I gave him $80 just to unhook my vehicle.
This is the worst business I've ever had to deal with. After calling continuously all afternoon for verification and information the line repeatedly kept saying "we're sorry, but all our circuits are busy at the moment..." I wouldn't doubt it was another customer on the phone with them for the entire afternoon just trying to resolve their own issue with Borkowski Towing & Salvage. Avoid this company at all costs!!
On a cold, dark Saturday night (after hours) my wife and I were stranded on I94 about 35 miles from home reading these reviews as we sat waiting for a tow from these folks. Didn't have a choice but to sit there and hope for the best. They arrived as quick as one can expect for an after hours call - loaded our car up, drove us home and then drove to our mechanic's shop to drop off the car. The price for > 30 miles after hours was $180 which I considered very reasonable considering the distance and that I'd punched a 2 hour hole in the guy's Saturday night. My only complaint is that the driver had the cab a little too warm, but I'm betting he would have lowered the temp if I'd asked. Thanks!
This place is so unprofessional and backwards you'd think you were on the set of deliverance. WAY OVER priced, and absolutely no help whatsoever. I paid the bill just to get out of the dump in fear something would fall on me. The "person" at the counter took about 5 minutes to acknowledge we were in the place. If you are looking for the ideal shady back alley kind of business, then this is the one for you.
I'd say that their vulgar language and abrasive attitude towards people in general is sub-standard. I recently called them to discuss the release of a vehicle owned by a friend of mine. They wouldn't give me any of the information I asked for; ea. lot fee, storage fee, and tow fee. Instead he resembled a rambling hick with nothing more to say than, "call when you have the money." With I would reply, "I have the money, I'd just like to know the cost before I drive an hour to come get the vehicle in question." If you have any business with this company, make it fast. And if at all possible, avoid this business all-together.
HORRIBLE is an understatment!!! This company was called out to tow our truck 7 MILES!!!!! and charged us 500.00!!!!!!!!! They held our truck HOSTAGE until we paid it!!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!! If you do prepare to pay!!! If there is another towing company you can use within 200 miles USE THEM!! I am sure that even with the drive it will be cheaper!
