I ended up with a flat tire while I had my 100 year old mother in my car. Thankfully I grew up in the area and knew there was an automotive store located close by. I had never used them but it was a couple blocks from where I was. They looked at my car as soon as I got there and they were able to repair the tire that had a nail in it promptly. They were very accommodating, friendly and honestly saved the day. I was treated like I was family and the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend TGK automotive.
Excellent service. Duane honestly knows his stuff regarding what your car needs and what it doesn't. I was lucky enough to come across this location and haven't looked back since.
The staff at TGK are friendly, helpful and are able to schedule timely appointments which is incredibly helpful. I have always felt that they have my best interest in mind and are trustworthy!

Paid 600+ for hours of diagnostic testing in December there was only one issue at that time supposedly paid a total of 1250 to repair. A few weeks later the check engine light came back on new diagnostic testing shows there was several issues happening. I wouldn’t feel cheated if my original 600 showed all the issues vs having to pay again
Honest and helpful! I was told by one company I needed an expensive repair, I took my car to TGK and they said the repair wasn’t needed just a little cleaning, and we could put off a major repair for about a year or two. Really appreciate their honesty and now we can better budget for the big fix.
The staff are friendly and informative. They take the time to answer questions. They were recommended to me by a family friend and I'll can't imagine going anywhere else.
Brought in my own brakes to be installed and they did it well for a fair price. Plan on coming back soon to get more work done! Also very friendly staff!!
I had a emergency repair that needed to be done on my vehicle. After calling multiple auto shops and dealerships, I was discouraged as most of them couldnt fit me in for another few weeks. I called TGK Crystal expecting the same and, when I asked their soonest availability, he responded with "Im here until 6 if you want to bring it down now." TGK promptly diagnosed the issue, informed me what needed to be done (with pictures of the issue), and then shopped around on my behalf to find high quality parts at a lower cost than originally quoted. My vehicle was ready for pickup next day. While it was still a VERY expensive fix, it was significantly cheaper than some other quotes I received. Will definitely be using them again for any auto work in the future!
Update: I had another fantastic experience with this shop. The team was able to diagnose the service engine light on my CR-V and repair a timing issue the local Honda stealership has failed to successfully diagnose or repair multiple times. The team at TGK completed the repairs and oil change efficiently within a reasonable amount of time at a competitive rate. The quality of work seems great. I truly appreciate the responsiveness and professionalism. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be returning for future services.
I have worked with this shop twice, and each time they are kind, professional, communicative, and haven tried to pressure or push me to do things that aren’t needed. This last time, they also gave me the advice of checking out a transmission shop for my janky transmission since they may be able to get the work done a little cheaper. I really appreciate that and will be back as my car requires!

I needed to find a new provider for our vehicles when our Master Mechanic at our neighborhood gas station retired and after a great deal of research I feel fortunate in finding TGK. They are honest, very competitive in price and trustworthy. They do a great job and also have Master Mechanics on staff. I recommend them highly.
I must say TGK Automotive had the best customer service I have ever seen. They are very efficient and very clean and nice waiting lobby very at home type of feel. Beware! If you are thinking about getting your car serviced here, take your business elsewhere. This use to be one of my go to spots for fast inexpensive oil changes for years. But never again! After my last encounter, I would rather go anywhere else but here. Read other reviews, you'll learn their services have declined and are no longer trustworthy. I had a nightmare encounter with their manager, Duane. Keep your peace of mind and your money, there are better shops in the Twin Cities.
I've used these guys twice. The first time was for an oil change. They applied a discount because the oil change took longer than an hour (the last place I went took over two hours and they didn't do anything to make it right, so tgk already had them beat, there). When I was getting my oil change, they also said that they were running a special on tires... change all four for the price of two which was around $650. I said I'd pass that day, but a few weeks later I called them up and asked about the deal. They said that the promotion had ended, but the gentleman on the phone worked with me a little bit and ended up agreeing to do the 2-for-1 anyway. They have also given me excellent customer service each of the two times I have been in the store... I've really been impressed.
I have a mechanic in my neighborhood who I go to for bigger stuff, but TGK in Crystal is my new place for routine maintenance like oil changes and tires. They gave me a deal twice and we're really courteous and professional both times.
TL:DR All in all a nightmare experience, which included high costs, un-agreed to services, and an incomplete repair.
Had my car towed to TGK in Crystal and the intake process was great and made me feel like they would take care of me. Was informed about timeline for repairs and all of that was accurate. When I was informed about the service (we knew the repair was to replace spark plugs, we just couldn't access them ourselves) I was told the cost for spark plug exchange/tune up would be $750. They also *highly* recommended a fuel system cleaning for an additional $150. I'm not car repair savvy and wasn't ready to tow my car to another shop so I agreed to the service.
Everyone I informed about the estimated cost was alarmed at how expensive the work would be and told me they must be doing additional services, which I was adamant they weren't since there wasn't anything else agreed to.
When we went to pick up the car, the gas tank on my car was open (not sure why that was even needed to access). Upon request of itemized receipt we were told the breakdown on cost which included $175 diagnostic (which was not included in the quote break down, and was waived for another customer that was also in the shop), $336 for 1 hour of labor plus cost for parts, the fuel system cleaning for $150, as well as a line item for "Lower Engine Intake Manifold G" which after Googling is apparently a gasket that I was never told about for $103 (separate from the spark plug repair and induction cleaning cost I was quoted).
Upon going to start my car and go home, the vehicle which had no issues with electronics starting previously did not even turn over. When going back into the shop we were immediately told I had a bad battery (which was purchased new in January) and would need to be charged which would be an hour wait time. We went home to continue the work day (which we informed the team about) and 5 minutes later were called to ask where we were and the car was ready and only needed a jump start.
There isn't anything these guys haven't been able to do for us. Tire issues, engine issues, hitch install, etc. The most recent was the hitch install and that was taken care of quickly. Crystal and BP locations have been great!
Don’t go to this shop let’s start with I had my car towed 9 am and did not hear back so I called a little after 4pm and they have not started my diagnostic. Then I am told I would have to pay 190 dollars to diagnose my engine light if my warranty don’t cover it. These shops need to let you know what the diagnostic fee will be . Not to mention Blake the guy who answered the phone was very rude and talking jargon which I am like I am not Macanic what are you talking about !!! Believe the negative reviews and avoid this shop .
My car wasn’t starting at 9pm one night and I had to have it towed. The tow driver took it to the closest place, which was TGK. I had never been there before nor my husband, so we weren’t sure what to expect. The next morning I quickly got a call from Dwayne letting me know they have the car and letting me know how soon they’ll be able to get to it. They were great, They sent me emails for updates and text messages and within a day my car was ready. They were very thorough so bravo to the mechanics. My husband needed to bring his Ford truck in and they fixed what the problem was and thoroughly explained. Dwayne at the front is very helpful. We will definitely be there again. Thank you.!

We had a great experience at TGK! Duane was very courteous on the phone and in person. We needed an inspection done on my car since we had some strange noises coming from it and they were able to squeeze us in same day. They did a very thorough inspection and were pleased. I would highly recommend going here and will come to them for future services.
I had a nail puncture in a tire. I could have had a appointment the same day I called but the next day was more convenient for me. In and out in .5 hour. Reasonable price. Staff was courteous, friendly. I've had oil changes there also, all good.
Duane and his staff were awesome! We had a previous problem with the last manager that quickly solved and corrected by Duane. I truly appreciate his willingness to make things right. Brought my 2014 Durango to TGK for an oil change and tire rotation yesterday and was very impressed. They texted a link to me with specific details found in their comprehensive inspection including several photos to identify issues bad and good. Once I arrived at the shop for pick up they provided a printout of the report with the service paperwork as well as estimates for the recommended service. They explained it all to me and went into a bit more detail on a couple items that were the most pressing. There were no "hard sell" efforts which I greatly appreciated.
I discovered a very nice little thank you when I got back in the vehicle that included a couple of pens and a couple of chip clips stuffed into a can coozy that was placed in my cup holder. A nice touch.
Both service advisors I encountered were professional, very friendly and showed genuine interest in my satisfaction in their service. I will definitely bring my Durango back for more TLC from TGK. 😃
