Brought my car in for a battery light. They said they looked at it and said the intake hose was causing the battery light to turn on… which makes no sense…
Got my car back and they said they fixed the battery issue…
Less than one day later the light turns back on.
I had to miss multiple days of work because they didn’t want to even try to fix my issue. Had to take it to an actual honest and decent shop, who actually diagnosed the issue and fixed it.
I can’t recommend Troy Auto Care enough! I’ve been dealing with electrical problems on my Dodge Journey for years. The dealership replaced over $2,000 worth of equipment but never fixed the issue—instead, they blamed everything but the real problem.
Troy Auto Care was a completely different experience. They were fair, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything to me. Their prices were well below market, and they fixed the issues that had plagued my car for years—for just a couple hundred dollars (what most other places charge just to look at a vehicle!).
I was so impressed that I brought my truck in the same day. They gave me a detailed inspection and helped guide me toward the right decisions on repairs. They even saw my vehicle within a day, when other shops wouldn’t schedule me for over a week.
Troy Auto Care has earned my trust, and I’ll absolutely be recommending them to friends and family. 10/10, a pleasure to work with!
(Updated Sep 2025) I deducted 2 stars because they did not complete the repair on my Volkswagen.
Not only they failed to repair the cause of my Evap system issue , despite me spending $1371.04 and making ~6 visits, but also the last repair technician smeared dirty grease on various interior parts (beige interior), did not hang the exhaust to the rubber hangers, and did not secure the exhaust heat shield to body.
I am sorry that I can no longer recommend them to my friends as a trustworthy independent shop.
(Original Apr 2019) Troy Auto Care gave me an honest estimate for a ruptured oil cooler hose. Along with the discount rate for their towing service, the nightmare of engine room smoke and oil puddle in my garage turned out to more tolerable experience. And their tow truck driver was polite.
Kristi Hudson had been instrumental in procuring the correct catalytic converter for my 2004 Toyota Tundra pickup truck from the auto-parts supplier. Due to the corrosion on the defective catalytic converter, the mechanic had a difficult time of removing the bolts. Subsequently, the truck was transferred from Troy Auto Care II to Troy Auto Care on Austin Drive for additional repair work. The repair was accomplished professionally and in a timely manner. Thank-you for a job well done!
I had an issue with my dealership incorrectly installing a part that they refused to look into after I voiced that I had baught my vechicle from them. I also reached out without a response. I did not want to pay another high price for what seemed like a botched job done on purpose. Due my trust issues, I explored other options. Troy Auto Care II came mind. I was guided there by a friend of mine. Kristi took great care in making sure the issue was corrected, communicated what the dealership did wrong, and made sure I was safe in one visit. Every experience I’ve had here has been great! The front desk staff and mechanics are all kind and knowledgeable and in addition to fixing whatever car problem I’m having have always explained it in terms that I can understand as somebody who knows nothing about cars. A year ago we were new in town and my car broke down on the highway. AAA had Troy auto care tow it. What a great surprise we stumbled into! Haley is always kind, honest, and patient with our many questions. When we were looking for a new (used) car, we brought in three or four for pre purchase inspections, and they diligently checked all of them. With their help we found the perfect little Accord! The whole situation started by my serpentine belt breaking and water pump going bad so I did some research and found this shop.. it was close to my work and they offered towing for my car to get fixed. I received a call from the shop and was told after inspection about the belt and water pump, but also my sway bar links, control arm and ball joint on the drivers side also needed replaced totaling the job to $1,200.00. My car also needed an alignment, as it was pulling to the right. I agreed to the work and they informed me my car was ready for pick up. Upon picking my car up, it continued to pull right and a rubbing, clanking noise began near my passenger tire. I contacted the shop and took it back. An hour later, I received a call with “good news” that the noise I was hearing was a nail in my tire.. the struts look great! Everything looks awesome under your car… a nail isn’t going to make that kind of noise, first of all and that my camber bolts were bad. You need to use the camber bolts for the alignment. I was quoted $93.00. So, either they didn’t do the alignment that I was charged for the first time or they did it and just put the bad bolts back in and they wanted to charge me for their screw up. The next day I contacted the shop to see if it was ready as I had not heard anything and a different woman proceeds to tell me the technician noted that the passenger strut has a crack in the coil spring so it’s still “pulling a bit”. So…. The crack magically came overnight? Interesting. After going around and around with the shop about how this isn’t my screw up, they replaced the strut and bolts for free. My car is still making the noise and there’s a constant hum that was not there before. Hailey mentioned she drove with the tech for a test drive around and didn’t hear a noise… the noise started 15 minutes after I was driving up the road so I’m not sure how long their test drive lasted. Now I am taking it to another shop to spend who knows how much to actually figure out what is actually wrong with it and double check the work that was done by this shop since this place seems to want your money while not really knowing the issues wrong in the first place, or messing up and causing other issues. I had high hopes for this place as the reviews were promising and I know a few people who bring their cars here for service and have had excellent experiences. At this point, I am convinced something was done during the first time I had it there and they just can’t fess up to the issue. I appreciate the gift card given by Kristie but my issue still isn’t resolved after all of this and my trust in this shop has been lost. I was as understanding as I could be with all of the back and forth, but I’m at my wits end. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to other people.

Awesome, got me in for a last minute oil change. I have had all my automotive work done at Troy Auto Care for at least 5 years, and I have no complaints. They fix what needs to be taken care of and let you know what other problems are there that aren't a safety risk. Troy's prices have been very fair if not better than other shops !
This place used to be good but did not have good experience this year! The diagnosis report is contradicting from other places! For example they said our car brakes are good but at 2 other places they said it has to be changed immediately and now we started getting a warning about brakes in the dashboard! Also looks like they say they are fixing something (which may be not needed) to get money from us
I took my car here a couple years back, they had it for two days, front office didn’t even know what I was talking about when I’d call to check in, and they never even looked at it to diagnose the issue, even though they said they would same day. Finally I just went and got the keys back (after they finally found them). Not impressed. Unorganized, and apathetic describes the experience I had.
It is not a surprise that you can’t find my information from a couple years ago. Who ever did own that shop then was unorganized. 3 days, no one even looked at my car or called me. So I hope the new owner (if true) is better. Wish you luck and improved service!

Josh M. was absolutely wonderful. I got locked out of an Audi A6 which is a notoriously difficult car to get into. He was really friendly and got creative to get the keys out of the car. I was concerned that someone was going to need to drive an hour with my spare keys to get me into the car and he got the job done in less than 10 minute.

I thought when I took my perfectly running Ford Fusion in for a routine inspection it would go smoothly. Boy was I wrong. After being told that the Gasket to the cover of the timing chain needed replacement I went back the next day to have the work done. The day after the work was done my car had difficulty starting. I knew right away that it was something that they had done, My car is a perfect running Vehicle with no issues. So I took it back to them immediately which after checking it out they couldn’t find any problem. I even asked the Technician who performed the work if the timing chain was somehow messed with during the installation of the gasket. He told me NO! That all he did was remove the cover. So I left hoping that I would have no more issues. Sure enough the following day the same thing. I then purchased a battery thinking perhaps that was the problem. But still it was difficult to start. Again, I took it back, And told them to keep the car overnight and try starting it when the car is cold. Sure enough they called me the next day and told me that YES! The timing was off. So! Obviously the Technician did something to cause the timing to be off while replacing the Cover gasket when he told me that he had not touched anything during the replacement. So even though the young lady who works the the front desk who is the Service Manager impressed me with her knowledge of Vehicles. I definitely wasn’t impressed with this Technician who worked on my car, Who obviously didn’t know what he was doing. I have to wonder how many other Techs over there don’t know what they are doing. I also have to question whether or not if indeed the Gasket was leaking because I only have a little over 38,000 miles on my car and I had no obvious leaks that I could see. This place that I thought would be a great go to place? Is now a definite not go to place.Never again!
Troy auto is by far the best automotive repair shop in Michigan. It would take me all day to name the many reasons why but the only place I trust with my dodge charger is Troy auto. When visiting Troy auto Hale, the front desk manager has always greeted me with smiles always professional and super fast in getting me in and out. The owners are the best in unique situations they went above and beyond for me. All of the repair technicians are amazing at problem solving. The faculty inside and out is amazing. If you want top notch service take your car here.
Griffin came out so fast to help tow my vehicle this morning after I experienced a flat. I initially thought I had a spare tire and when I went to get it, there wasn’t one there. He was more than willing to tow my car and take me to the dealership even though he wasn’t required to. I appreciate his time and commitment to servicing me and am so grateful for his help! He was friendly and helped make my morning go better despite a poor start. Thanks again!
Went with prior appointment, and didn't take much time to get the overall vehicle inspection and oil change done. Can't comment on their larger technical know how, but was satisfied with services I paid for. If you're an enthusiast or DIY inclined, who likes discussing your vehicle with the technician, you will be disappointed because they don't allow talking to the technician who worked on your vehicle. I understand that they're busy working on other cars, but I personally wouldn't mind paying by the minute (say, $60/hr) to discuss on my car's condition. Will visit them again before I decide if this should be my go-to place (and also folks in my social circle who value my opinion).
P.S. I felt the vehicle inspection fee is a tad high, but nothing earth shattering.
Always an excellent experience at Troy Auto! These folks will provide an honest and detailed estimate. All work is generally done in a timely and efficient manner. As noted with others, they do also provide their own towing and road service as well! If you need vehicle service, there's no need to think twice about having it done here. . .
I was pleased with the work of the mechanics… but the customer service/ communication was terrible. I had to constantly reach out to them because they never called to update me on my vehicle. They had my vehicle for 2 business days before I called and they still couldn’t give me an estimate. At 3 days I CALLED again and finally they told me a price and that the part for my car were ordered and would be coming in the next business day. I got a call back from a different customer service rep and she told me the part would be there in 3 business days. Two days later, I received a call and was told that they had not ordered the part yet. I finally got my vehicle after it had been there for 8 business days in total. I would NOT recommend.
Great experience from the tow to services performed. Tow truck came out very quick. Driver was a nice guy. Quickly identified the issues with my brakes and repaired them, plus an oil change, in under a day. Rate was reasonable, too. Would use again.
This is my first experience with Troy Auto Care and I could not be more pleased. Very professional from start to finish from prioritizing an appointment, resolving the issue in a timely manner, and having the expert mechanic discuss the entire process/outcome personally with me. I also asked and received quotes on several other pending engine issues, which I received promptly from a mechanic who personally discussed all the pros/cons of options and costs for resolving. I intend to use this firm for all of my future car servicing needs.
I picked up a nail in my tire on Saturday evening. I drove in right when Troy Auto Care opened and they started working on the tire right away. They have a great customer lobby with tons of places to charge up electronics and a cappuccino machine. I wouldn’t have minded staying there for a few hours but they had my tire patched and ready to go in 20 minutes. So lucky to have them so close to home. I couldn’t recommend this place more!
Great service, plus they are fast and affordable. It was easy to make an appointment over the phone. They diagnosed my car in about an hour and had it ready two hours later for rear brakes service. It was very quick, and I was able to get on with my day. I am also happy with their quote, it was the cheapest of 3 places I shopped around for. I will definitely come back when I need more services done. Couldn’t ask for a better way to make my maintenance a no-brainer.
