What clients say about Wompatuck State Park in Hingham Township (MA)
-
Wompatuck offers over 3,500 acres of forest, waterways, streams and ponds with over 40 miles of trails that wind you through the park. We parked by the Aaron River Reservoir area and walked the few trails that lead you to the Reservoir and other bodies of water that you pass as you wander about. There are a few benches and a picnic table along the trails, we did not pass any public restrooms. There is plenty of parking near the trailhead to the Aaron River Reservoir. The park is dog friendly, with notice to keep dogs on a leash at all times. Great spot to spend the afternoon.

Beautiful state park. We camped here in early summer and enjoyed the quiet surroundings and numerous walking and bike trails. We stayed in a non-electric site. I think some of the facilities were dated, but that’s ok.

We camped for a week in September. Camping spaces are large with an adequate amount of space between the sites. Restrooms were overall clean, although the showers are a little worse for wear. Lots of fun hiking trails, and the location can’t be beat. Close to everything you’d want to do in eastern Massachusetts.

It's a very nice park with many camp sites, half are electric. Bathrooms are weird though. Walls and floors always wet and dripping. I expect that in Louisiana, but up north it was strange especially when you use facilities in the middle of the night. I don't believe there's heat in them. Close enough to drive into Boston and hingman is a quaint little town with excellent cafes and eateries, boutiques and an old theater in a town hall with up to date movies. The park is very well used.

Great spot for a bike ride or hike along 40 miles of trails and 12 miles of paved roads. Free parking in the park. (Paid) camping on small tent or RV sites, with basic fire rings and picnic table on each site.

We love this campground. There are lots of trails for walking and biking. Our fur Wiley loves it too.

Quiet on our last trip. Not very crowded. Hookups are very modern, 20, 30 and 50 amp available. Spots are roomy and some have lovely views of the lake.

We stayed at Wompatucks campground for 3 nights. Facilities were clean, sites were well maintained and well spaced. Will definitely stay there again.

Fabulous camping area. Beautifully wooded. Large spaces. Pristine spring water. Helpful staff.

This is an absolutely beautiful and peaceful place with ample and amazing accommodations. Showers, electricity, water, and campfire grills are free on site. Firewood bundles are available for purchase. There are so many trails for walking and bicycling. Very dog friendly. Children love it here. I only hate posting this because I don't want to miss out on future reservations due to it being full!

Wompatuck State Park has one of the best trails in south shore. Trails are easy to moderate, well marked trails make it easy to find your tracks. Nice and quiet, pet friendly but occasional mountain bikers will whizz pass you with casual hello. Campgrounds are available for adventure seekers and there are tons of parking as well. Info center features restrooms but needs cleanliness, though.

As excellent as I recall from last fall. Wonderful campground and park. Loads of walking trails. Easy walk to food (hour and a half each way i walk a lot). Sites are not huge but fully shaded. Definitely worth trying out for your preferences. Oh bathrooms clean water hot. Non electric sites separate from electric sites which I LOVE as a non driving tent only camper. Plenty of water posts. No complaints.

The staff are what made this campground really wonderful. They're a great resource for places to go and things to do. This is a great place to bring a bicycle as there are many places to ride, even just around the campground. As always camping depends on who your neighbors are, whether it's the solace of the campground or the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Staff does their best. You have two options: the more rustic side or the powered side. Each gives the campground a completely different feel.

Quiet campgrounds surrounded by thick, lush forests. It's easy to forget your 40 miles from Boston.

There were frogs on the road and we had the amazing experience to move them off before driving through. I’ve never seen a Grey Tree Frog before, despite being very into frogs. It was a lovely experience.

Love this campground! Beautiful wooded shaded sites, clean bathrooms, electric on site, water close enough, nice big wash sink at the bathrooms for dishes, friendly staff and close by to lots of stuff to do or spend a relaxing time just hanging out at your site. Sites are big and private not on top of each other, this has become an annual must go to place for our family ❤️❤️❤️

Lots of good people campers/park personnel. The basic map is usable with compass. Insects are few. I mean scary few. Firewood is easy to find. Bring something to chop with. Squirrels and raccoons will eat through tent and containers. So if in tent be careful. Remove all trash and use the dumpsters every night unless you want to pick up trash in morning. Great place to camp.

Beautiful park with miles of trails you can hike or bike and where you can see wildlife, go fishing, camp, picnic and more. Camping is easy check in and there are electric and non electric sites. There are some interesting old military bunkers. Interesting history. Plenty to see and do.

My go-to destination for convenient bike trails, both paved and off-road. Trails are perfect for novice MTB'ers. Paved trails are clean and relatively quiet- motorists understand that bikers are frequently present and act accordingly. Plenty of parking space. I personally visit this state park about once a week because there are just so many paths to explore.

Beautiful park with really nice camp sites and many hiking trails. Site is big enough to hold two large tents. Loads of space.

We arrived on a Friday evening. It had rained earlier and was about to rain again. Our site (E10) had a puddle already forming when we parked. We found the best spot to put up our tent, and we still ended up in a big puddle after all the rain. We also had a major depression area that was a local haven for the mosquitos, thus citronella was our constant companion, as well as bug spray. We were able to order our bundles of wood ahead of time. However, it was wet and moldy as it is on pallets in the open. The area is clean and the bath house was clean and well stocked. There are great trails to walk and maps in physical or online formats. It was quiet, despite the numerous occupants around us, which was quite pleasant.

Beautiful, peaceful, accommodated my unique needs with a smile. THANK YOU!!!! Also, the beach is only 10 min away (and there are a ton of cute cafes for breakfast). I’ve felt very safe and respected whenever camping at MA state parks (Myles Standish is also gorgeous, though no cell phone reception there, and I’ve always had reception in Hingham). Hats off to our park service members!!!! Also: paved trails!!!! Plenty of parking too. Please please please respect others and obey the law: leash dogs at ALL times!

Loved to be here for the Labor Day weekend 2023. We enjoyed the healthy heart trail in the morning. Very well maintained. Found some sort of REI sessions near the scout area 1. Campgrounds are also good. Lots of people with their bikes ? met on the way.

Park is beautiful and well covered with trees. Review is of the electric spots; Many spots are smaller, 45' or so. Appear to be built up with sand and rock, especially the M sites around the edge. These also have small creeks around them and the water sounds are great. You will get sand all up in the place you stay. Water drainage travels around many spots. About 50/50 RVs and tents. Verizon has 2-3 bars and loads slow, but does load. The bath house in row K is the middle as well as the dunpster. There are several paths for shorter distances to it, but some cross user locations and should be avoided. Bathrooms are probably the worst I've seen in a park. 1 of 3 showers had no hot water. Always dirty, but chipped floor and constant sand make it worse. Tile on shower walls is broken chipped, cracked. Shower faucet is a single rusted jet. Some showers drain slow so you are standing in 2" of water after a few minutes. Once I went in there and it looked like the whole toilet stall was just sprayed down (everything dripping wet). The rangers are extremely nice and helpful. There are potable water locations every 5-10 customer spots. I saw one RV with a hose connected to it. The park is great, just be nice with more and better bath houses (girls says there side is rough too). The campsites are more than a mile in the park, so it takes time to get in and out. They had a kids movie at the welcome center on a blow up screen. Starlink will have trouble as there are very few views of the sky due to tree cover. All the trees look healthy and in good shape. I'd stay again.

Great place I’m so excited about this entrance on the Norwell side. A little rocky driving in hoping they pave it. Great spot to stop and explore. Saw a few bullfrogs jumping around in the water. My Dog loved exploring. Make sure whatever you bring in you carry out. I love Wompatuck and so happy that this entrance is closer to me.

Great campground all around- clean and private for the most part. Bathrooms could use some improvements and also some of the roads in the campground are uneven. But for a state park campground- we had a really good experience. Nice, quiet and relaxing

Great park with lot of options to hike, trail run and bike. Trails are well marked. Gentle rolling hills. Track for bike ride for kids and family. Great views of lakes from some trails. Lot of different kinds birds to see early morning around the lake. Deers and turkeys can be spotted in early morning hours. Certain parts of the park are open to hunting of the deers and turkeys during hunting season. Plenty of parking available.

Camped here about ten years ago, passing through the area again didn't hesitate to stop again. What a huge surprise to find a whole new campground. Plenty of walking trails and competition off road bicycle track/trails. Shower stalls were small fiberglass units where at 5'2" I could not raise my arm up straight above my head. Stalls needed shower curtains cuz water sprays out into your dry dressing area. Bathrooms were very clean. Park is like a 3 mile bike ride to Ferry that can take you right to downtown Boston waterfront.
