Each campsite had its own picnic table. There was firewood for sale and a little grate at each site that people could build a fire under to cook with (the rain prevented us from trying it out, but it looked functional.)
We got one of the sites with electricity, and there were many options to plug into, although we didn't bring any appliances and really only used it for phone chargers. It was nice to have the option of using electricity, if the need ever arose.
Unfortunately the campsite looked flat but was secretly lower in the middle, leading to 2/3 of the tents flooding. It made a little lake. The drainage was quite good once the rain stopped, it was 4ish inches deep at the center and gone in roughly an hour.
The bathrooms were cleaned daily, and I salute whoever had to do that because they were awful when we arrived. My one nitpick is that they did run out of soap and not replace it.
Edited to add: someone else's review reminded me, there were a lot of very bold and curious deer. We saw the tiniest one crossing the road, it was adorable.
The campground was large and quiet. Lots of trails to hike. I loved looking for the old bunkers and stone remnants. Very secluded. Peaceful if you're looking to get away from city life.
Nice place to camp. The sites are nicely maintained, we stayed in a tent area and it was great. The kids were riding bikes everywhere and there are plenty of trails and roads to ride on.
The bathrooms are large and easy to get to.
We camped here several times over the years. There are miles of beautiful woodland trails with ponds ,a reservoir for fishing and viewing various wildlife. You can bike , hike , camp, fish and more. The campsites are clean and good sized for tents and RVs. There are fire pits and grills. There is a spring where you can get water , but at the moment it is closed
This is the worst campsite ever, the toilet building is DISGUSTING, it’s hard to make the water in the shower hot. And there isn’t even a water hose attachment! The place is nice though. And I know they can’t do anything about the mosquitoes.
Easy to reserve, no request to reserve like other places. We stayed on the electrical side. It’s clean, plenty of space between you and your neighbors again unlike other places. Very relaxed atmosphere faculty. Wildlife visitors included many varieties on spiders, birds, and bats, lightning bugs, dog ticks (be prepared), deer walking right through the camp sites daily as well as racoon (keep food stored away), toads, and big turtles in the road. The only thing I’d say needs improvement are their clean bathroom showers. They may be clean but both bath houses tend to have colder showers and drains that don’t drain and one outside sink that never drains. While visiting the bathhouse for cleaning or doing dishes the kids had a lot of fun with the tether ball, (so did I). Otherwise I’d give this place 5 stars. END NOTE enjoyed some live saxophone, guitar, and light show on a couple nights from other campers
We had a mixed review, earning the 4 stars. Bad news first, our electricity did not work. We set up and plugged in to only be disappointed on the first night (after a LONG drive and arriving after hours). Also, no water at each site means walking/ carrying jugs and dishes. It was noted that one shower was constantly running in the bath house which feels very wasteful. I would say the camp ground was mostly quiet… except the tent directly behind us who decided to play music and chop wood until after midnight.
But the Positives: the site was maintained and mostly free of litter save a tiny speck or three. We made use of the dish washing station located at the bath house three rows away. We often heard children laughing, playing and biking. The campground was mostly quiet (see above) and well wooded around the sites. It’s convenient to multiple historical sites making it convenient to the coast as well as Boston and other places.
It is your average State facility. Great for hiking or mountain biking. There's a great pond to fish out of as well. The bathroom is older but was clean and in working condition. Park rangers were knowledgeable but strict. The whole place was clean and quiet!
I've been camping here for years. It's quiet and clean. The sites are spacious and can accommodate anything from a tent to a large motor home. The electric sites are the best. I set up my kuerig and got to enjoy my coffee without having to leave my site.

Park staff are very friendly and helpful.
My only complaint is that it's run by a third party and doesn't honor the Sr passes that other state parks accept. I would recommend them renaming it to Wompatuck Park since the state has no say..
It saves us money, but in my opinion, the discount would actually create more revenue for the park.
Overall, it's a gem. Fairly close to everything, including Nantaskett Beach..

The spots for electric hookups were quite spacious and well maintained. Was wonderful to see a dumpster placed nearby the restroom also so we could easily dispose of our garbage whenever needed. Bathroom was well maintained and clean. The park had a lot of beautiful scenery as well just to walk through

The park offers electric as well as non-electric campsites. They are on two different ends as soon as you enter the campground after registration.
This review is for the non-electric campsite (N007) in row N. The site is relatively small but sufficient. I found the bathrooms clean and well maintained. The park rangers were actively patrolling the sites. The fellow campers were friendly. The showers were having warm waters in the morning. Dish wash stations were available at the nearby locations.
This is relatively small park but very welcoming and offers whatever you want.

I really enjoyed this campground. The sites are well separated and have plenty of tree cover if you want to be in the shade. The bathrooms are well maintained and very clean! They have showers, dishwashing areas, and spickets throughout the grounds. Lots of trails for walking but highly recommend bringing a bike because there isn't much else to do in the campground itself. The ocean is only 30ish minutes away by car.
Very surprised at how highly this campground is rated. When you read the reviews there are some very important things to consider. Like many people we had huge issues with loud and inconsiderate neighbors. Ours stayed up to ~3am yelling essentially and would not quiet down. Not sure but I don’t think any rangers stick around or monitor the campground at night like other places I’ve been. We went in the summer and there was a huge bug swell, and when I mean huge this is the most bugs I’ve actually experienced at a campground. The area is pretty, but that was more bugs than I ever experienced on the west coast, so this is just a warning for those that haven’t camped over here. There are definitely mosquitos but they weren’t terrible where we were. The problem was just tons of flies, cicadas, and something like a flying ant. In terms of the restrooms, they are swarmed with insects. The restrooms are worse than most campgrounds I’ve stayed at with pit stalls and likely rarely get cleaned. It’s a pretty huge campground so maybe they do like once every 2weeks. I would not recommend the shower. The staff is nice tho, and the area is pretty with tons of hiking options. For that reason, I am am putting down two stars because I think there are better options out here.
Had a great time camping here. Good availability, reasonable pricing, lovely sites and plenty of hiking options. The only problem is inconsiderate neighbors not respecting the rules. This place would be 5 stars otherwise.
Fairly average campgrounds. Nothing spectacular. I give 4 stars for that, though I will mention other things of note below.
- Unfortunately we were there at the end of the summer so the camp was full of noisy families with young children, which made enjoying the space a little difficult, but that’s not anyone’s fault.
- In a similar vein, we were unfortunately there during a rough drought so campfires were not permitted :/ Appreciate the concern for safety, though, and rangers did sometimes drive by checking to ensure that rule was followed but were not obtrusive in doing so. They also offered refunds for those who were unwilling to camp without the opportunity to have a fire.
- Decent amount of trails nearby!
- As is to be expected, the bathrooms were not super clean. Would recommend having sandals to shower, etc.
Beautiful campground and the people are so kind and helpful! The sites are spacious and spread out. We were here in mid June and it was not very busy. Not sure why because it’s a great place. Easy drive to both Boston and Cape Cod. We really enjoyed our time here. Thanks Wompatuck!
Great camping site. Stayed in C-15- was good except it was right near a turn in the road, so lots of people stopped unsure whether to turn or go straight. Site had a picnic table and fire pit with a grill above a part of the fire. Bring a clean grate or foil to cook on. There is a bright light for night time. Bring something to cover it if you don't want it. An ok distance between sites. Quiet hours at 10. Bathrooms were close by. Loved the acorns raining down on us at night. It was suggested we only needed 3 firewood bundles($7 each). We used 13 bundles (fire from 3pm - midnight). Someone had left a long stick to use for a fireplace poker. Labrador approved.
I am currently still staying here but the customer service people here are great nobody bothers you plenty of room to yourself the shower stalls are cleaned every so often and they are actually clean hot showers place is just amazing all-around especially pricing!!!
You must be picky with your spot because some are VERY sloped. If you are tent camping or in a short trailer, this may not be an issue, but if your RV is bigger, be warned. But the location is great. Boston and the harbor are a short drive. So many trails to hike. Also, make sure you map the main entrance, because Google maps will try to take you down hiking trails and closed service roads. We ended up on a residential street dead end that was a small parking lot for a hiking trail. It was a real pain to get turned around and included having to unhook our toad.
Huge campground with almost 250 sites although sections of campground were closed due to pandemic. Open sections also had few sites closed so it didn't feel crowded although a lot more campers showed Friday evening. The sites are on the smaller side but enough for 2 tents and a car. Bathrooms were clean and showers had sufficient hot water. Each bathroom had a kitchen sink outside for dishes. Standard electric site had 50/30/20 sockets which is great even if you are not using an RV. There are lot of trails for biking or hiking (make sure to pick a map at the entrance). We saw few deer while walking along Aaron river
I would have given a five star rating on this campground with the exception of the bathhouses!?? Black mold! I was afraid to touch the shower walls, I took one shower there in the two weeks we stayed there because it was so disgusting. The other days we showered at my nieces place. Otherwise it's a beautiful setting and would only consider if I had full hookup including water, sewer and electric.
The strict 2 week policy even though no one is occupying 90 percent of the camp sites is pretty LAME. But the staff is super friendly and accommodating.
Nice, quite, peaceful place. Not all sites are the same size, some are small some a little bigger. I didn’t see any animals(if you’re worried about that). Just bugs, a lot of bugs lol.. There is a river near the camp (30-40 min walk),it’s a nice place to walk to and do your exercise! The website says they don’t provide water but on the map they give you at check in it shows places you can get drinkable water. They sell wood at the entrance.
One thing I was excited about was to do the horse riding and when I got there I couldn’t find the place, I called the office and they told me that people bring their own horses for that. So if you don’t have a horse, don’t expect to find there. They have kayak for free but only certain hours. There aren’t many activity options. The bathrooms-showers are “ok”. Not very clean but not very dirty either, they don’t smell (if you have sensitive nose like me).
I really enjoyed camping there, I will go again and I do recommend it! I just put 3 stars because I expected to do more activities.
I liked it here. Although the sites are on the smallish side, if you are here with friends they do the best to accommodate you, Driving in here you will see wildlife, it is a great campground to relax at or take a load off. You may want to bring extra bug spray here just because of ticks and close proximity to the woods on small sites.
Very nice, quiet and out of the way campground. If you're driving a large Class A you had better be an expert driver. The 1928 bridge to your campsite is VERY narrow with sharp narrow turns on and off in either direction. I saw lots of A's and 5th Wheelers there, so I know it Can be done. Just not for the faint of heart. ?
