We purchased a used vehicle that passed inspection in another state about a MONTH ago and before that in November. When my husband took it to Ayer Auto for inspection, it was failed which didn't make sense. The mechanic offered an appointment to take care of the issue. He said something was loose under the front tire. The suv drives beautifully btw. My husband couldn’t understand how the suv failed after passing 2x so recently so he then took the vehicle to another mechanic, and TWO mechanics inspected it-TWICE-and confirmed there were no issues, passing the vehicle. My husband returned to Ayer Auto to request a refund, which was denied. I also shared my experience on our town Facebook page and QUICKLY learned that this auto repair shop has done this MANY times in the past and even received private DMs of people sharing their experience being scammed out of thousands of dollars. We will be proceeding with an Investigation through the RMV but I wanted to make others aware because this is super shady!
So glad I gave this shop a call! Kamal is such a straight forward and genuine guy who isn’t going to give you the run around. I came here for an oil change, tire rotation, and a full windshield wiper motor replacement and am very pleased with their service. Everything from the first point of contact, to the quote, to the quality of work is what you want in a local mechanic. This will now be my spot moving forward!
The guys that work at this place are the best. I was driving down from NH to Western Mass and my muffler decided to become completely disconnected from the resonator right in the middle of the drive. Miles from home, the main mechanic here saw my situation and replaced both my resonator and my muffler in less than an hour and a half for a little over $800. (Tax included.) This guy is clearly honest, and if I didn’t live so far away from him, I’d probably go to him every time I needed work on my car.
Had Kimmel the owner look at a car for me as a pre purchase inspection. I wish ALL the car people I have dealt with were this kind, honest, and as full of integrity as this man is. He knows his stuff, communicated it clearly, and went through everything with a fine tooth comb. I am very very impressed and will be bringing any major work 30 mins away to him.

Went here for my car inspection and I was failed for two reasons one being the fog light. Fixed the other problem and brought it back because by Massachusetts Law chapter 90 section 7A fog light are not listed among the mandatory lighting equipment and should not be the sole reason for a failed inspection. Not to mention I bought this car without a front fog light and have owned it for three years, never been failed for the fog light because it is not a legal requirement in Massachusetts. Extremely tired of being taken advantage of at auto places being a female. Before this I had gone for my truck which they almost failed me for not having a bulb, charged me a ridiculous amount of money when I looked on Amazon I bought the same ones for much cheaper. I am extremely annoyed and will never go to this auto place again.

I went here out of convenience for an inspection sticker since it is across the street from the gym. The woman working told me I would fail inspection because of my tires and gave me a card to buy tires from them. She went as far to say that my tires were “going to blow up.” I immediately called my usual place (Swanson Buick GMC in Acton) and told them this information. They squeezed me in to verify. Turns out my tires are just fine. I passed inspection with no problem. I feel this place tried to rip me off just based upon seeing a woman alone. I will not go for convenience ever again, and will continue bringing my car to the dealership for service. I highly recommend Swanson Buick GMC in Acton, as they are very honest and trustworthy.
My tire needed to be patched, they fixed it immediately upon asking if there were any available appointments. Both employees were incredibly professional. I will be returning for an oil change, and I would 100% suggest Ayer Auto Repair. Period Queen
Worst experience I’ve ever had. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Brought my car in for inspection. The mechanic rejected me saying ”I need new tires” when placing his gage on the threads it was no where near the red. He then proceeds to sell me his tires estimating a little over $1,200 with a 2 year warranty. I had to buy it because I needed to go to work within a few hours. When I went back to exchange tires before warranty expires. He came out enrage gave me a whole run around how it would take 2 weeks to get my tires because they have a “new system” and that I’d have to pay him upfront and he’ll reimburse after. Really unprofessional on how he chose his words. It’s sad how he treats customers. Demand I leave his property in the middle of me asking him questions about the warranty. So I told him ok I’ll take my money elsewhere.
Great Service and impressive troubleshooting! My power steering went out suddenly in a parking lot (thankfully) and then mysteriously came back after about 45min. I still wanted it checked out so I left it with Kamal. It could've been a very $$ part, but after a long time looking at things, he discovered a mouse-chewed wire! I am grateful for his persistence in figuring this out - and so is my pocketbook. I will be back from now on!
Great service. Got a thorough yet speedy state inspection in early October. Great experience. When my alternator went (2013 Corolla), they squeezed me in and got it replaced under time and under budget - back on the road and no problems since. Two thumbs up!!
A great shop that was able to get me in on a late notice. Super kind and helpful, definitely a place I will be returning too instead of the dealership I usually got to. Highly recommend if you're in need of help.
Replaced all my brakes and rotors and they were still squeaky that same week. I brought it back twice complaining about the squeaks and the owner was incredibly condescending and dismissive. I had to get them replaced again by a real professional just a couple months later.
Really appreciate this mechanic here in town. Brought my car here for an inspection, it failed, Kamal walked me through what went wrong, and without any pressure for me to fix it with him. I went with him, and haven’t looked back. Having dealt with many a mechanic who treated me like a “dumb female”, Kamal has never once. Always polite, practical, and explains things in a way that is both helpful and informative, doesn’t try to upsell or pull a fast one. An honest, solid, great shop.

Tires & Mass inspection sticker! Excellent service! The best in convenience & a two hour turn around time! Kamal is excellent & he told me I needed 4 new tires for my SUV & 4 brand new Falken Tires were put on my vehicle the same day!! Impressive 5 stars!!

The guys are friendly and helpful. My car failed inspection ( I know daughter of a mechanic 🤦🙃) they were able to get me in fast. Hourly rate is great at $100 an hour. Will definitely come back and recommend

Went here for State inspection. Fast and efficient. Gave car a thorough evaluation but no pressure to repair as none would have been needed immediately to pass inspection. I will make an appointment later.
Want to give a big shout out to Kamal and Ayer Auto Repair! He really took care of my family and went above and beyond when we had two cars crunk out at the same time. The radiator cracked in our primary vehicle. Luckily, a repair spot opened up and Kamal was able to get our Highlander in the next day and out that evening. Super turnaround time and the car has been moving great since. He also managed to fit in an oil and filter change as well. Can't thank him enough for the speedy response, especially as our Chevy's engine blew the same day. Kamal kindly helped us out while we spent time investigating insurance claims and other such options. He certainly went above and beyond for us and with great patience. Great service! I went in on a Wednesday afternoon and he had my new tires in the next morning and my car done (with alignment completed) by mid afternoon. I would recommend Ayer Auto Repair.
Great mechanic! Knowledgeable in import and domestic. The owner drove me to my workplace nearby while repairing my car. Also I like how they call/show you what's wrong with it and why a part needs replacing. Recommend if you're in the area.
Kamal is a very pleasant person to deal with. I received professional and courteous service, he doesn't try to sell you things you don't need and is quick to take care of the problem at hand.

I have been a customer of Ayer Auto Repair since it opened. Kamal and the other mechanics are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. When I didn't know what was wrong with my car he identified the problem and fixed it efficiently. When I need my snow tires changed, it was done in a jiff. The prices are very reasonable too.
