What clients say about Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester (MA)

Beautiful and clean beach but gets overcrowded in the summer and parking can be a problem. Bring your food and drink, there isn't good option at the beach and you wouldn't want to move your car once you parked there. Also don't forget your umbrella there is not a area you can hide from the sun. There are restrooms and outdoor showers, open between memorial day weekend and labor day weekend.

Beautiful Gloucester Beach. Went there on a Sunday afternoon. Experienced a warm sunny day. Great place to spend the day

We visited Good Harbor Beach in July and really loved it! We booked our parking spot a few days in advance, so when we arrived, we just had to show our reservation — super easy and convenient. We went early in the morning, which allowed us to park close to the beach entrance. People start arriving around noon, so depending on what time you like to enjoy the beach, parking and getting a good spot can be easier or a bit more challenging later in the day. The beach itself is very beautiful, with calm waters that are perfect for families with kids. We had such a relaxing and fun day, and we’ll definitely be coming back next summer!

This is a great beach to go to if you're in the Gloucester area. There is a creek you can go in on the far side of the beach, and at low tide, a sandbar appears that leads you to salt island, which you can climb up and explore.

Good parking, well stocked bathrooms, convenient snack stand, helpful walkway mat in the sand leading from the snack stand to the start of the beach, making getting to the beach earlier for anyone with mobility challenges. The views are beautiful, and the beach is clean. My only complaint was people smoking cigarettes which ruined the enjoyment of the fresh air. Also, Keep an eye on your French fries and snacks for some assertive sea gulls.

☀️??️?? Good Harbor Beach is a great beach with plenty of space for lots of people! We had a great time at Good Harbor Beach and caught lots of ☀️! At low tide you can walk across to the island and maybe find some ? The food stand can be slow to order and receive your food so plan accordingly. My lobster roll and fries took 30 minutes to be ready but that was pretty common for everyone there. Overall we had a great time at Good Harbor and will make this one of our top beaches in the area!

Although the parking is limited and prices are salty, after 3-3:30pm the parking is free and there's always spaces to park. Short distance between parking lot and the beach, well maintained bathrooms but not so well maintained showers. Clearly a popular beach, by the crowd today. The water was ice cold in early August on a 80F Sunday. The tide rises suddenly in the afternoon, it's a beautiful scene to admire while sunbathing. Very pleasant beachn!

Such a favorite. Especially taking the train and then biking to the beach and avoiding the parking craziness. Take the long way around past back harbor beach. Gorgeous.

Great beach! We love coming here for the soft sand and fun waves. During low tide there are tide pools and a river the kids can explore, plus an island you can reach via a sandbar. During high tide there’s still plenty of beach. The parking is great - plentiful and stretches across the whole beach, making it easier to spread out and you never have to walk far.

Piping Plover lovers, this is the place for you! Please know these are a protected species so do not go touching or chasing these adorable little birds. We spent many days here this summer. At low tide you can walk out to an island and look for crabs and lobsters. Many lifeguards, the waves are small and not scary. There were jellyfish some days and many fun shells to explore. Perfect sand castle building sand.

First time coming here and it was enjoyable. We got there for 8am so there was plenty of parking, I do think $45 with tax $47 this year for parking for non residents is terrible! I did enjoy the fact that there are little waves here so its not a quiet beach. Walking the beach at low tide in the morning was nice, you can go to the puddles around the rocks to see what's in there and also cross the water to the island and climb it which we did not do. There's bathrooms with changing rooms, a food area, and an area that sells beach accessories. The beach at low tide looks very large but when it starts to come i it does get quite narrow. The seagulls are very vicious come lunch time, I saw a few attack people while eating their food.

Good Harbor Beach is a stunning stretch of beautiful white sand facing the Atlantic Ocean, making it one of Gloucester’s most beloved coastal gems. The beach offers perfect conditions for boogie boarding and surfing, while at low tide, visitors can walk out to Salt Island, and at high tide, enjoy body surfing. The beach is well-equipped with concession stands, restrooms, and showers, plus lifeguards on duty from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. The wide sandy expanse is perfect for long, leisurely strolls by the ocean’s edge, and the views include Salt Island, Thacher Island, and Saratoga Creek.

Public beach that is about a quick $5-$10 Uber Ride to MBTA Gloucester train station. Locals are nice. Beautiful scenery. Low tides & shallow waters areas especially for the small toddlers and babies. Although, there are no public restrooms available, the closest is the local hotels & restaurants off Beach Ave. There is a small bridge that connects the beach to the local neighborhood & a small parking lot is available for families.

One of my favorite beaches in MA. At noontime, tide is low, and you can walk out to the island and explore!!! No dogs allowed on the beach in the summer starting April 1 or $300 fine. Also, you need parking passes to come if you are not a resident.

This was a very nice beach. GPS took us straight here without difficulty. Great spot to relax. The area had a lot of people soaking up the sun but everyone was respectful. Dogs were allowed and people had quite a few. If you’re visiting, this is a great spot to experience the ocean and a clean beach.

Beautiful & clean beach. Had a picnic lunch here with the family this past Sunday & it was such a great beach. We got lucky with incredible weather as we sat on a huge blanket, ate our lunch, watched all of the surfers, & enjoyed the afternoon. Highly recommend!

Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester is incredible at low tide. The beach is huge and walkable. Huge waves. Wonderful place to sit and listen.

This was our first time visiting and we will be back!! Such a beautiful, clean beach. Parking is by reservation, which does help keep crowds at a set max. There are bathrooms and a snack shack which is great! The water was COLD but so clear and clean. Perfect size waves for kids to enjoy. At low tide you can walk out to the little island and explore.

This place is so awesome for families. You can walk a ways out and still be pretty shallow so perfect for kids. As the tide goes out it leaves smaller tide pool areas. Over by the bridge there's a cute creek that's so fun to explore and play on the rocks.

This was a beautiful public beach. As compared to beaches in the Mid-Atlantic region this was quite different. The beach was very flat with hard packed sand and there was 60-80 yards of beach to use (low tide). Also, there were large rock outcroppings all around and a rock island too. I didn't go swimming but I suspect the water is a little colder than OBX!

One of my favorite beaches in New England. I love the way the landscape changes with the tides and the unique experience of wading through the water to the island. Just beware of poison ivy and ticks when climbing on the island. I felt that the view at the top was worth the few minutes of climbing. Seems like you need to arrive early or after 4PM for the beach parking during busy times.

Many features to enjoy and discover. Lazy river creek with strong currents, island access during low tides, thunder-like waves when it hit the big rock by the nice White House over cliff. Much better water quality than any beach near Boston. Cant surf when there’s lifeguard. Shift ends at 5-5:30pm

I had a really good time here and I will definitely be going back some time very soon. The whole place was extremely clean and well kept. There really arent to.many beaches like this one, it's great for them kids because at low tide you can walk more than 500yards out and it's still only waste deep.

Beautiful good size beach. One little hut in the middle of beach set back by the parking lot that sells drinks and snacks. Some restrooms available. Volleyball nets and shallow creek where kids can play. Parking lot is very limited and expensive. You won't get a spot unless you arrive very early or later in the afternoon. No street parking available. I'm lucky I can walk from my sister's house.

You have to buy your parking ticket ahead of time to be sure you’ll get in. The beach is never over crowded plenty of space for all of our stuff. Seagulls can be very aggressive when looking for food. The entire experience is relaxing and fun for all ages.

Beautiful and clean beach, they have food/ice cream stand at the beach entrance and they have Italian ice cream carts too, the water is calm with no rough waves. Free entry after 5pm, they have public restrooms separate for men and women and porta potty too!

Should be called Great Harbor Beach, this place is fantastic. Super clean and silky sand, deep intermittent tide pools, and some excellent rolling concessions. Very pleased with the view of the lighthouses and the very gentle descent into the ocean. The seagulls are bold, so mind your belongings when you're taking a dip in the beautiful North Shore waters!

Beautiful beach with super clean and shallow water. A little cart sells icee at the beach for only $3. Kids love it! It has a snack shack and bath house and a good amount of parking space for non residents at $30 week day. Well worth to spend the day or just a few hours!

Very nice beach. It is a little on the smaller side but offers a lot of smaller pools due kids on low tide. You can also walk to a small island on low tide. Parking is $35 during weekends, cash only, so be sure to prepare for that. The seagulls are vicious so also be prepared for that. I saw a sandwich being taken out of a woman's hand and several potato chip bags being raided.
