They were very informative! We were on a road trip on our way to Illinois and our car started shaking. We were just outside of Hancock and ran into Main Street Motors to see if they could help us. The front desk, and owner were very empathetic of our situation and moved their schedule around to help us get back on the road as soon as possible. Thank you guys!

I went there to look at a vehicle to purchase. I could not have been more impressed with Matt and Curtis and how I was treated. They made me a very fair offer on a vehicle and gave me a generous offer for my trade. I felt they were dealing with me honestly. They are more about auto service but do occasionally buy a customer's car to fix up and sell. Since they are smaller, they have limited selection of vehicles and I ended up not buying from them. I found a another vehicle elsewhere that fit my needs better. However, you can rest assured when I look for another vehicle, Main.Street Motors will be my first stop. Thanks guys.
We had some car trouble on the highway and needed help on short notice. Curtis was nice enough to make time on a Monday morning. Excellent and professional service!
They were great until after 2 months I started having issues with my car. Then suddenly they were unable or unwilling to help me. I got a warranty that was supposed to cover all parts of the motor but now that no longer applies. I talk first to Ameer who was quick to pass me off to his boss. I tried talking to both of them but they kept talking over me. Finally the boss took me he would look over my warranty and get back to me soon. That was over a week ago and he has never called me back. Do Not Trust what these guys tell you.
I read the review from Michael Buttino. Almost had the same experience. We had car troubles on our trip to DC from Ohio. Our car gave up right in front of their shop. They quickly came out and helped me pushed it to their lot. They offered us drinks and diagnosed it quickly. Unfortunately, the damage was extensive and would the repair would have been expensive and take a long time. They offered to keep the car until I got it shipped back, which I did. They gave us a ride to the car rental place which was not close. The level of care to a stranger from Matt, Curtis and Beth was personally impactful. Other than reimbursing for the ride they didn’t charge us anything. Are the people in Hancock the nicest in Maryland or was it divine providence to come across Main Street Motors? I wish you guys much success. Thank you!
While participating in the Race across America one of our follow vehicles developed a bad vibration. In a rush, and with Avis not being particularly helpful, we stopped by Main Street Motors. They have to be the nicest people operating an auto repair shop I’ve ever encountered. After taking the car for a test drive and a quick inspection, they had us back on the road in no time.

It doesn’t get any better than these guys! They just couldn’t be nicer! They kept my son’s car for a week, driving it repeatedly to try to solve a mystery issue. They couldn’t find anything wrong with it and didn’t charge us a dime for their time. They also helped my sister-in-law with her car, determining that the engine was blown, they didn’t charge her a dime and even offered to buy the car from her. We appreciate your kindness during tough times!
I was broke down an hour and a half from my home after a family emergency and the professionalism and customer service was phenomenal. The love and kindness while I was waiting for family to arrive was much needed and greatly appreciated. If you have a choice of where to breakdown or get your car fixed in your way through please use Main Street Motors! It is the best and only choice!
We were incredibly blessed by the service we received from Matt at Main Street Motors, LLC. Halfway through a long trip, our car broke down on the thruway in the middle of nowhere. The tow truck driver recommended Main Street Motors over the shop we had originally planned to use—and we’re so glad he did.

I'm doing the review for my grandmother Daphine Gloyd, she bought a 2016 chevy equinox from there about 5 months ago. Well it was OK it had a check engine light on it was taken in they fixed it and it came back on that night, it also had a oil leak they said was due to dirty oil she had it changed and it still leaks pretty bad. The brakes when she bought it were OK on the flat but on a downgrade it made a smal warp noise when there bad but after 2 months they were shot as well and now the catalytic converter needs to be replaced and more. I know it's a used car and you take a chance and was even paid for in cash so just be careful if you deal with them maybe this was a one off but who knows
We were on a driving vacation from Chicago and while passing thru the area on a Saturday, my car decided to have "charging system" issues. I had it towed to the nearest town and I picked Main Street motors because of the good Google reviews. Dropped the keys with a note in the drop box on Sunday with fingers crossed I picked a good place. I CERTAINLY DID!! We got a rental from Hagerstown MD and continued our trip. Called them on Monday from far away and Beth eased my mind that they'd look at it and get back to me. By Tuesday Beth told me Curtis (the owner) said it was the alternator and would have it fixed Tuesday or Wednesday at latest. I picked the car up on Thursday and continued my driving vacation and the car ran like a charm. Thank you Beth for the kind interactions and Curtis and team for repairing our car and saving our vacation!
Had work done on a car. a week later the one of the parts failed. it took them a month to get it back. 30ish days later the same part failed again. They refused to even look at it for a month. which in MD is not legal.
my car was reliable then this place touched it and out of the last 3 months it wouldn't start %70 of the time and left me stuck twice.
There is a reason they are so cheap.
The receptionist also questioned me on warranty. Everyone knows when you have work done there is a warranty. This shop had lost me and many others.
I was on a long road trip, 6 hrs from home when my gear shift broke, but the whole crew at Main Street was fantastic and saved the trip. Fixed it in great time and even had rentals available so I didn't lose any time. 10/10 would definitely recommend the great people at Main Street
My mom bought a car from Curtis Spade in May at Main Street Motors. She had a major surgery a couple weeks before this and her car had broken down fully right before her surgery. She stopped in at main street motors and found a car she liked and bought it from him. The car broke down twice. She was given no guarantee on the car she bought and really expected nothing out of him. My step-dad broke his hip in between everything and she was in desperate need for a running car to get back and forth to the hospital to visit him. She asked Curtis if he could please look at it and see if it was something that could be fixed. He said he would take care of it absolutely, to leave it there and she said she didn't know what to do as she needed a car to get to the hospital. He said don't worry about it. He gave her a rental car to use in the meantime while he looked at her car. He charged her not one dime to work on the car he sold her, he also refused to take a dime from her for the rental. She knew there was absolutely no reason for him to legally work on that car, and he absolutely refused to take any money for it. He is an amazing businessman and even better man. If you're looking for someone who is genuinely a great person, who stands by their work and anything tied to their name, you can't find anyone better than Curtis Spade at Main Street Motors. Thank you guys so much for how wonderful you were to my mom, Ellen Wilt and my step dad Joel. I can't thank you guys for the kindness and care you showed them and for all of the extra work you spent at night working on that car. She said by the time she got it back you pretty much fully rebuilt that engine. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Very considerate and caring service. On the way to take daughter to school, alternator went out. They guided us to their shop, found part, replaced and had us back on road in an hour. We had nice visit in town instead of stressing over what could have been a nightmare. These guys are amazing!
I have had so many vehicles fixed by Curtis and Main Street motors! Nothing but the highest care for your vehicle! The customer service, quality of work, and most of all the transparency of what’s needed/ being done! Definitely the best value for your money! A shop that truly cares about your car and the customer! 10/10 recommend to anyone.
Though I would never want to be stuck without any engine power en route from Western MD to New Hampshire again, if I did find myself in the same bind I would absolutely go back to Main Street Motors. They jumped to identify the issue and quickly made a repair, and were incredibly friendly, professional, and reasonably priced! If I lived local I’d absolutely choose them as my own mechanic.
While moving across the country, my car decided it was time to start problems and a red error light indicating a battery issue popped up. I pulled up to Curtis and his crew's shop with little to no warning of my arrival, and he immediately diagnosed the issue, and had it fixed in under ten minutes. He and his shop's willingness to take us in an emergency situation quite literally saved our day. I cannot praise them enough, and unfortunately Google will not allow me to rate them over 5 stars.
Main Street Motors was a life saver for us! Curtis is an honest, skilled problem solver and went above and beyond the average shop owner. Our daughter’s 2009 Nissan Altima decided to give out on her way home from college in Ohio on her way to New Jersey when she managed to barely pull off off Rt. 70 and end up in front of Curtis’s Main Street Motors at 9:00 on a Sunday evening. She and her friend pushed the car into his lot and left a note with our name and phone to call in the morning. Curtis called first thing, put the car up on his list to diagnosis a dead transmission and from there helped us manage to salvage it right from his lot. I received a check in the mail from him for the full salvage price! He is a stand up guy, genuinely trying to help us out. What could have been a costly process, Curtis simplified and went above and beyond to help us. Couldn’t recommend this place more highly. A reliable mechanic for this local community that’s a gem.
A huge thank you to Curtis and his team for helping me with a flat tire! I was on my way from DC to Pittsburgh and thankfully I happened to be near their auto repair shop. They helped me right away: they had to switch the tire and quickly found the new one so I could continue driving safely.

Me and my two kids were traveling from Ohio to Virginia after watching the Total Eclipse, and our check engine light came on. We ended up pulling over and found Main Street Motors, where Mr.Spade did a diagnostics free of charge. It ended up being nothing major, so we could drive home to our normal mechanic, but the peace of mind he gave us is priceless. The secretary, Lisa, was super friendly and very helpful. Wonderful service all around!!!!
Main Street motors is unbelievable! I was alone 185 miles from home when my car started to shudder and lose power. I was given main street motors phone number from Napa assistance since I just had a repair done. As soon as Curtis answered, he demonstrated care and compassion. Once he knew I was safe, he had a tow truck on the way. Although the news was no compression in my 2 nd cylinder, so I was stranded. He offered me a loaner car to get food. His employee used his truck to help me get a tow dolly from U-Haul. They assisted with loading and securing my vehicle when my husband arrived. I had many hours to sit and watch the concern for each customer . Always calm and professional when unexpected customers rolled in. If you are in the area in trouble or for any automotive needs call Main Street Motors for honest service and compassionate customer service.
Spark plug in my older Lexus went bad on an 8 hour drive on my way to DC. Pulled up to the shop just before closing time, feeling nervous because in my car the intake manifold needs removed to access the spark plugs. These gentlemen had the issue fixed and got me back on the road within 30 minutes. Saved my weekend trip, thanks guys!
Professional, awesome, kind service!! When our tire pressure warning came on far from home, we found Main Street Motors on line and called for help. Curtis gave us calm directions to his business in Hancock and completely, expertly fixed our problem. We would certainly frequent this business if we lived nearby.
