I dropped off my Christmas tree in the morning as my HOA no longer offers a bulk pick up. Everyone who works here is so kind. It was a little confusing to navigate because there are so many different parts and departments, but everyone was very helpful. Going north on 355, there is an earlier turn than Google maps routes you to that you can use on weekdays
This place is awful there is something broke every time.
They charge a lot of money and make millions but don't invest in new machinery.
On top of that the roads access are always full of nails metals

Organization is terrible, signs are ridiculously confusing, staff is useless and each one tells me different things, smells terrible, and to top it off they don’t clear the roads properly and a giant piece of metal punctured my tire! Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.
Excellent resource for the community! So many options to recycle items: plastics, metals, clothing, electronics! There were a lot of staff there to help direct me, too. I will be back! Thank you!
We went there more then one time and then today we went there and they were.like sorry we cant take your can't any more so we have to drive back home with are cans because they would not take them so I hope they see this
Staff is helpful and efficient; they helped my father when he couldn’t lift a heavy mattress without us asking! No long wait times in my experience. :)
I've been here multiple time and always nice helpful staff until now, the yard waste attendants were horrible. One stood around to watch me even though I asked him why he was there, was something wrong. He said no. But because he thought I couldn't read he stood there until i was done just to to tell me where the exit. Why not do that when i asked why he was standing there watching me? The two men that were there felt like I couldn't read a sign that said no exit nor that they could talk to me properly, Instead they decided to be rude and stand close to me.
An employee had me turn right instead of left - I’ve been here enough times to know the residential waste was to the left, but she insisted I turn right, so I assumed the other lanes were closed for the day. That turn resulted in my waiting over an hour with dump trucks and pickups in my Kia to throw away two bags of trash. Upon exit, I saw the rest of the passenger vehicles using the residential waste drop off without any delay or backup. Not sure how it’s possible to know more than the employees when there are two turn options, but it doesn’t come without major inconvenience (ps - there’s no way to abort the construction waste line once they make you turn into it) - make sure you don’t have important plans within two hours of a trip here, because you very well may miss them depending on who is in charge to demanding which way you turn.
I only had two items to contribute, a bunch of cardboard and several old windows. The only place for the cardboard was easy to find and as luck would have it when I asked an employee where they went he pointed across the road.
Unreal that this County operated station is unable to have a clear path of communication with customers/ county residents.

A simple sign in that 1,000ft of entrance but management can’t even do that. Should be ashamed & replaced.
Not only that the workers 15ft apart said two different things. Don’t even know where they are standing.
Poor management & employees
I wanted to let people know what a great resource this Center provides especially the Clean Harbors drop off area for contaminate/hazardous materials. The crew at Clean Harbors - lead by Brenda - are very professional, knowledgeable, efficient and thorough. We are very lucky that our County provides us with this easy drop off service which ultimately manages the waste disposal and saves the environment from uncontrolled handling practices.
Long lines. Slow customer service with inconsistency. The new renovation's done don't make it any better. I believe the new renovations were poorly designed.. No cover for people , long walkways to cashier.. Make sure you come here with plenty of time and patience.
2022 They have a terrible process to get you in and out. They used to allow access off 355 for yard trimmings under 500 lbs. Not anymore. Plan to wait in lines everywhere. New management.
3/23/25 Still having issues. Traffic hazards. Can't even get on the property on a Sunday around 1145 am.
5/1/2025 Be careful they are practicing unethical fee process at scale. Today I entered scale and was charged new tipping fee of $28.91. My load was 2 trash cans with less than 200 lbs. I asked if I needed to stop back on the scales on the way out and was told no it's a flat rate fee. I said I have less than 500 lbs. She had an employee check my trash and said she was going to void my sale. I went and dumped my trash then checked my bank account app and sure enough there was a charge but no reversal. I went back to the scales and had to stop and get a receipt showing they voided my transaction. It took a minute but they gave it to me. This was a very slow time at the facility as well no lines so would they have voided my sale if I didn't stop back at the scale? Be aware. See the attached photo from their website saying no fees unless over 500 lbs.
They do not separate plastic from cardboard from glass. I was told today to just throw it all in the regular trash. What's the point of trying to recycle if the county recycling center isn't going to make it easy for residents to do their recycling? Forget it. In the regular trash it goes. I drove up here for nothing it seems.
Extremely chaotic and disorganized on a Saturday afternoon. The roads inside the complex are very narrow and it’s challenging to park to drop off materials. Staff not helpful in directing cars safely.
For the love of something. I realize it was NY eve, but either 1) STICK TO THE ADVERTISED OPENING HOURS!!!!!!! or 2) Close the whole damn day, as clearly wished had happened. Note: I am yet to experience this any other day of the year.
I have been going to this place to throw away trash for a long time, but during construction there are about 3 very opportunistic employees. They have been charging the flat fee of $70 even if you do not carry much debris and when you ask if you can weigh the entry and exit they get upset because they want to charge you the same fee even if you do not carry much debris. A bad experience. I hope they can change and improve the service. And even if you are a resident of Montgomery County. And it turns out that today the same people charged me $90 when the rate is $70. Just because I tell the truth and they don't like it and they think they have the authority. This is just ridiculous.

As dumps go, this one is pretty good. It doesn’t stink and you’re not backing into a pile of goop then have to get out into trash, instead you have nice asphalt to step onto. There’s staff, most are friendly and knowledgeable, however, be prepared like I am to get the one person that doesn’t know what they’re doing a will send you on a Where’s Waldo to various sections, and those people send you back to the original person. So, put on your people suck face and enjoy the tour, it can always be worse.
Edit: 23.12.24. I went to dump 6 bags of trash and a dryer. Rolled up to the normal place, girl on phone with her homies, so I’m like ‘roll on’, she gets an attitude and sends me to the scales. Never happened before. I swing around the block wait two hours to get through the scales and line, and end up about 30 ft away from where I originally was, there was no need to pay the scales woman said, I was under 500lbs. “Right?” I say, and roll on. Anyway, I got that person - again.
I've been coming here for the past 20 years, this place used to be very convenient for construction company's but now I don't know what happened but randomly you can no longer go on certain days or times of the week to dump your construction trash.
Today I tried to go and dump. Tried to call ahead but their office is closed but the dump is open, makes sense. I get there and they tell me they're not accepting construction till Tuesday.
Why?
What happened to the convenience of this place?
The maps app sends you to the truck entrance and I had to figure out the car entrance. The lay out of this place is insane and signage is minimal at best. I had several types of recycling all of which ended up in the trash after I left this place. I managed to find the electronics area thinking that in included batteries but the lady yelled at me and said electronics only. I asked where to take batteries and she just pointed further down the line. I could not find that area or the area for plastic bags or paper bags.... they need a lot more signage and directions. I shouldnt have to study a map at home before going here. If you figure out where to go it's probably a great place, but moving forward if they won't curbside pickup, it's going in the trash.
The two employees I interacted with were helpful and friendly...enough. For being owned by the county, I would really expect a slightly nicer facility.
Google Maps directed me to the west-side entrance of the admin. building (via Shady Grove Rd.), but I entered via the south entrance at 355 because I was looking to unload my car.
Really appreciate how our county has this… it’s not be taken for granted!! One of the things I’ll miss the most should I move out of the area (& if new area doesn’t have a waste facility/recycling center).
The staff are so helpful, knowledgeable, and prepared - and the facility doesn’t feel understaffed.
I’d allocate 45 min to an 1 hr (depends on the size of your load), just in case (if there’s a wait). It’s a bit overwhelming when you enter and drive through but just ask for help & follow the signs & drive slow!

It's hard to give a dump a good review. They are never designed to be aesthetically pleasing, and they are olifactorily offensive at best. This dump is all of those things, but still great. Tax dollars well at work.
I loved going there, it was fast and the gentleman who put mulch in my truck was very careful, nice and respectful!! Also, I believe that it is important to support recycling and waste management, thank you for keeping this place so efficient.
Staff here is fantastic! Really helpful people who want to help Montgomery County residents recycle and dispose of various materials and chemicals safely and responsibly. Excellent service! Even the geese love this place. We had to wait for the geese to cross the road...
