I had a great experience with Hymel’s Auto Parts & Services. One thing that always frustrates me about auto shops is when they don’t respect the fact that customers are either without their vehicle or paying for a rental while waiting.
Larry told me to bring my truck in on Friday and assured me they would start working on it right away and they actually did exactly what they said. By Wednesday morning my truck was completely finished.
They handled a full brake job front and rear, mounted and balanced new tires, replaced motor mounts, and changed suspension linkage all at a fair price.
When a shop tells you “bring it Friday and we’ll start,” that’s what working customers expect. At Hymel’s, that’s exactly what you get, honest communication, fast turnaround, quality work, and fair pricing. Highly recommend.
Hymel’s answered on Easter day when our son broke down on I 10 on the way back to college and offered to have his serpentine belt fixed in 24 hours….great place!
Not sure how this place is still in business. I was up charged over 100% for the parts I needed. I had another shop look over the receipt to confirm that they did indeed gouge me on the price. The cherry on top tho was the 17 dollar fee for paying with my card. I do not recommend anyone use this shop.
On approximately June 26th 2024. Hymel's towed my vehicle to their establishment. To replace an air conditioner compressor and a belt. On the 1st of July I contacted them inquiring about the progress on my vehicle. I was told that, it would not be more than two additional days and that "they were working on it as we speak." I expressed to the secretary with urgency, that I use my vehicle for work and that I do not have income if I do have transportation. I'm a single mother who is self employed and need my car desperately. She put me on hold. After a few seconds she came back online and told me that "they were working on it as we speak."
Here we are July 4, 2024, still no transportation. I called in, expecting to leave a message as today is a holiday. Surprisingly, I got an answer from a gentleman who told me check back with him on Monday July 8, 2024. My vehicle has been in their shop 9 days as of today and Im being told to "check back on the 8th! I feel this is unacceptable. I feel like a job such as this should not take 13 days. I was misled as to how long the job was going to take. I've missed several important jobs and I hope that Hymel's takes that into consideration when sending me an invoice.
I had a blowout on a trailer on the interstate in a very bad location. They responded quickly with a tow truck after hours. Repaired my trailer. Did good work at a reasonable price and were very professional and easy to deal with.
I was sent a notice of sale of my old mustang. I had sold the car to a young gentleman two months prior to this. He had been placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and they sent me paperwork showing I owed $800 for the tow and storage. I called them, told them it didn’t belong to me anymore and the young man had the title to it. I then got another letter showing I owed over $1000 and it would be going to auction. They don’t listen to anyone, I’ve been to LaPlace one time, and it wasn’t for this reason, and it wasn’t over a car, it was during my tenure in law enforcement for when Katrina came through.
Took my step daughter's car to Toyota for an oil change. They said we needed ball joints and a bunch of other things. Over $1000. Took it to Hymel's in Laplace. It needs 2 belts. $119. I've been taking my car there for many years. They are awesome!
Hymel's is the best and they have towing if you get stranded somewhere!
It’s nice to have the mechanic who is honest, excellent and fair priced. As a woman that is sometimes very hard to fine. Larry thank you so much for your great service as always.
