SUCH A COOL PLACE! First commercial winery in Kentucky! Will definitely come back.

The drive out to First Winery can make you question if you're lost but that is what makes this such a hidden gem. We visited on a rainy, drizzling day so we didn't get to take in much of the property but the owners made up for that with stories of the incredible history of this place. The rich history and owners that really care sure makes for great wine! IMHO. The wineries mascot, Red Dog is very friendly and great company too. We did a tasting and liked the wine so much we took home a bottle.... or a dozen but who's counting... ? Definitely a place we look forward to visiting again.

Drove all the way out, from Florence Ky, almost 2 hours EACH WAY on a Saturday evening, got here at 6:09 pm, and the doors were locked. Hours show they were supposed to be open until 7pm. Maybe update your hours on Google, since that's where people will leave their reviews on you. Never again.

This is my favorite winery. The history is very interesting and the wine is excellent. Bobbye and Tommy are great hosts. They kindly let my family use the facilities for a celebration of life and it was perfect I highly recommend this venue for your event.

My first Kentucky winery I’ve visited and it blew my socks off!! The scenic drive with its winding roads takes you to the very heart of wine-making in the US. Established in 1799 this family-run winery can boast of a long history, the title of the first commercial winery in the entire United States and delicious wine! When we visited, we got the wine tasting platters and were introduced to the extensive history of the vineyard while one of the most majestic dogs I’ve ever seen kept us company. It was truly a perfect day with some delicious wine! Do visit! And visit often if you can!

I’ve lived about 25 minutes from this place my entire life and didn’t know it was there. It’s the FIRST ever commercial winery in the ENTIRE US HISTORY! Established in 1799, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison have had wine from this establishment. Very rich history, fantastic wine and the greatest southern hospitality. If you are in the area, you certainly need to stop in for a tasting. The word on this place needs to get out because it’s one of the best treasures I’ve stumbled upon.

If you like history and wine, it's a great place to go to. I will tell you the wine is over. The top every bit is good. It could be in sometimes even better. The wine is Hatton mill nowhere. The road to it is whining and tight. I want you to get there, it's all worth it. I say go.... ..

Excellent wines! Wish I had the money to try the one of the rarest wines ever. Maybe next time. Beautiful property!

I photographed Nic & Lindsey's wedding here in 2020. I highly recommend this place as your wedding venue. They have a beautiful outdoor ceremony location and an amazing view as the vineyard sits on top of a hill. The history as the first winery in the state is a great added benefit for your guests. Great venue with amazing staff!

Just so happens I know the owners very well. I've read the reviews and even the best ones haven't come close to tell you how wonderful a person Tinker is. In case you don't know Tinker, well that's Tommy. He's probably the most kind and understanding man I know. 30 years ago, maybe alittle longer, he and I and a mountain of a man Mike Kelly cleared the old time roads on the property and by pure accident discovered unknown to us the grapevine that the wine you are enjoying today came from. I could go on for pages but just know this, I don't see Tinker no where enough but I will always remember where and when it began and Tinker, thank you for all you've done for me. Folks if you happen to be there when this spunky straight forward no bs kinda woman is there please say hello to my daughter Alex aka alley cat. She's awesome. Thanks Tink.

Very Poor road signage, I thought I was lost and the rural location makes you question if there really is a business at the end of that dead end road. The online information did not match the vineyard actual business hours. Please update your Google business listing!

If you’re ever in Kentucky head to this beautiful little winery. Great wines and a nice log cabin atmosphere. Looks like it would be a great place for a wedding with lodging and a pavilion.

After having our original wedding venue cancel on us my wife and I did some searching and found The First Vineyard. I can honestly say that was a blessing. If I could give them 10 stars I would!!! Amazing venue with even more amazing staff and owners. They truly helped to make our wedding of our dreams. If anyone is looking for an event venue at a great rate, amazing view, and very good wine then you must go here!!

The history was amazing and the owner was very kind and took time to go through the history and wine options with us. They have THE BEST Apple Pie wine my wife and have ever tasted! It's off the beaten path a bit but the drive is beautiful in the fall.

History knowledge of the 1st Winery in the US dated back to 1799. They are very nice and full of information about the history of the land. Wine is awesome ! Scenery is gorgeous. And the dog, Red, is so friendly. Sitting area in several places Coy pond, gazebo facing the countryside, and views that never end.
