I had an extremely disappointing experience with this towing company and would strongly caution other drivers and trucking companies before dealing with them.
After my driver’s truck broke down, the police called this company to tow the vehicle just 2 miles to a local truck mechanic. For that very short tow, they charged over $2,000, which is completely unreasonable and excessive. There was no justification provided for such an inflated price.
To make matters worse, once the truck was at the shop, my driver was essentially stuck there because the company refused to accept normal, modern forms of payment. They would only take Comcheck or EFS, which is incredibly outdated and unprofessional, especially in a time-sensitive industry like trucking. No credit card option, no flexibility, and no consideration for the urgency of the situation.
This caused unnecessary delays, stress, and operational disruption that could have easily been avoided if they operated like a professional, customer-focused business.
I would not recommend this towing company to anyone!
I have never been so appreciative of a towing company in my life. The drivers are absolutely incredible and you can tell they are professional and know what they are doing. They got my entire family home safe and came so fast. I am beyond impressed with this company ? wow.
I have road-side service with my car insurance, and my front tire was pretty low. The address entered in the system was incorrect, but instead of calling it quits, the service man from Smith Brothers called me for the correct address and arrived within a couple minutes. He was very professional and courteous and showed me the culprit stuck in my tire. He was prompt and helped me find a service station close by that could pump up my spare because it’s low too. I sent him off with a small container full of popcorn to thank him for his help.
The worst tow company I’ve ever had to deal with.. first it took them over 6 1/2 hours to show up to tow my vehicle 25 mins up the road. When the driver showed up I watched him drive In circles trying to find the vehicle. The vehicle was literally the only black suv sitting in this big empty parking lot under a big overhead light. A blind man could see it from a mile away. He then called asking for directions and when I told him I’ve been watching him drive in circles he insists to yell at me on the phone. When I told him to take a right and he will see the vehicle he took a left.. imagine hiring a driver that doesn’t know his left from his right. After driving in circles for 10 mins he finally gets to my vehicle and loads it up. Has an attitude the whole time he tries to talk to me. Gets the vehicle to my house and I told him to put it on the street right in front of my house.. he tries to put it on the street facing the wrong direction ? when I tell him he needs to turn his truck around and put it on the street the correct way he gets a attitude again. He finally gets turned around and unloads the vehicle but when he does so he put the vehicle so far off the curb I had to go out after he left and push my car to get it out of the middle of the road.. The driver is either a complete moron or just doesn’t know how to operate a tow truck. If all the other employees are like this guy then I don’t know how they get any business. By far the worst tow company I’ve ever encountered. If I could give this company a -10 rating I would.
Called in the middle of the night for a tow. The guy tried telling me they didn't serve the area I was in before I even told him where I was. Then he tried telling me my insurance canceled the service call, and I told him I called him myself, not my insurance. Then, he finally took my location down and told me it would cost $297 to take it 50 miles. I asked how much to take it 6 miles down the road to the nearest tire shop, and he said $164! I needed a tow and they were the only ones in the area to answer, so I agreed. He said he dispatched a truck and that it might take an hour for them to arrive. I waited a half hour and heard no confirmation from the driver, so I called the service back and the guy said the driver was dispatched, but hadn't left yet, but was leaving soon and would call me. I waited another half hour with no word from anyone, so we called 911. They dispatched an officer who arrived within 15 minutes. He was able to get the lug nuts off my flat tire, and we were able to put the spare on within 10 minutes. Should have called the police first thing! These guys sure won't show up, and none of the other towing companies in the Huntington area that advertise that they are 24/7 will answer their phone. So, don't count on ANY nighttime towing service from any of them!
I locked my keys in my 2012 Ford Escape, in the ignition with the power in the on position, but the vehicle was not running, so the battery died, this caused the keypad to not work. WHAT AN ORDEAL!! ?
I called the non-emergency sheriff number, and they referred me to three locations of locksmiths. Doug, immediately answered. He said he could be at my location in 20 minutes (on a Saturday) which was awesome! ?? He charged a super reasonable fee, then went above and beyond by charging my dead battery.
I highly recommend calling only this company if you lock your keys in your older than 2020 car. Thank you again, Doug at Smith Brother Services.

Once again, they saved the day. I was in an accident. Allen county called their people and I waited there for 2 hours. I gave in and called Smith Brothers, and they were there in 20 minutes. They even let me ride with them back to Columbia City. They are always nice and friendly, and willing to go above and beyond. Thank you!
They were nice on the phone and they were reliable on showing up when they said they would. They got my car to the repair shop safe and sound. I'd totally use them again if I needed to.
Driver was SO GREAT on a Sunday morning getting my flat changed and getting me on my way. Even recommended a local place to get the tire fixed since I was from out of state!
I always like to support local small businesses but When I called they Seemed annoyed that I needed a car towed from my private business lot that didn't belong.. not the first time I've gotten this same response from these guys for the same type of call.. said it would be more than an hour .. i asked that they still come and get it .. he said call back in an hour then if they weren't busy they might come get it out of my way... I simply just won't call them next time.. there are other local tow companies that are eager to get paid.
John was fantastic and extremely helpful. He went the extra mile (literally and figuratively) to get us where we were going, recommended good places to get a hotel, and after dropping us off at the hotel, brought our vehicle to the repair shop and left them instructions for the morning (he gave us the tow at about 11pm). Great service and prices. Very friendly and helpful.
they are some of the best to deal with they are fair and equitable to all parties. they are quick and efficient. I would not use anyone else in the area
