I have worked with garages like this before. And seems like it's always a guy that knows his German cars in and out and know their cars like the back of their hand. The thing I've noticed is they are such car guys, their organization in the office is not what you call top notch. But they know everything about each one of their cars and know everything about each one of their cars. If you try walter, make sure to ask questions, ask for options, and I'm sure you will get a good assessment. You may not like the assessment but you picked a German car so the assessments are always going to be high. I use Walter this time for a second opinion, his options aligned with my first garage, and he gave me a better option that was a fraction of the price. I'll definitely be going back for service. Only reason I'm not giving him five stars is purely the visual organization of his garage.

Had my TDI get a dpf cleaning. Before the cleaning I had lights on and in limp mode. After the cleaning everything is back to normal. Very reasonable priced. Did take longer than expected though. Will come back again but next time I'll expect a longer wait time.

Was quoted $900 for a repair, final bill was $1600 when they only found 1 extra thing that cost $56. Tried to raise the price of a part by $100 from what was originally quoted. After challenging that, got it lowered to $1500. $420 to "reset codes". I normally repair cars myself, but this is my college kid and I'm 4 hrs away. The $450 main part in question was really a $150 part when I did the research.

Back when they redid the concrete through there (98?) an older gentleman driving a 70's bug misjudged the drive a little. He was such I kind man but I had helped him get his car back on the road. He got a chuckle out of it I was bare foot in a dress and had just gotten off work. He told me he was related to the man who ran or owned Walter's, I don't remember which. The short of the long he made such an impression on me that when my daughter had problems with her tanguar this yr, I sent her to you. She was very satisfied with the work that was done and I thank you for not taking advantage of her.

Looks like a good place, but they are backed up so much that I couldn't get service.

Very friendly and knowledgeable. I truly wouldn't trust my Volkswagen anywhere else.... especially a car lot!!!

Super friendly staff and great pricing. Met the owner Walter and who I believe is his son and they were great to talk to. Definitely will be going back in the future for anything euro with my cars.

I normally do most of my own repairs on all my vintage Mercedes cars at home but when I'm in over my head or just can't resolve the problem myself, I immediately turn to Walter. He was recommended to me years ago by none other than the Service Mgr at the local Mercedes dealership. Not only are he and his guys highly competent, they've always been easy to work with. They may take longer than you'd like (seriously understaffed IMO) but the job is well done at a reasonable price when you get your car back. If time isn't of the essence, Walter is HIGHLY recommended!

Walter is so good, people bring their problem cars to him. He does awesome work, because he knows his stuff. Just wish his customers realized he has a problem finding good help, leaving him short handed. If you don’t mind a short delay at times, Walter is your man.

Walter is a very good mechanic for European vehicles. We had rodents eat away at a wiring harness that caused our vehicle to lose power steering, and Walter was able to repair the harness (no replacement needed!) for a very reasonable price. He’s an old-school jack-of-all-trades mechanic, and I refer all my friends to him.

Maybe my experience was "the luck of the draw" or Walter felt I deserved no better. I haven't taken my car back to him since Fall 2019. So, it has been over 2 years since he worked on my car and I very recently had to replace a distributor cap and rotor HE "replaced". My car could not start for over 5 weeks right after Xmas 2021! Had to have it towed twice before getting to right mechanic. Why? Because the same parts were found to be old, corroded and overlooked. Walter's total repair cost $2,500. I am retired. That was a real $$$ effort. I trusted him and never checked under the hood for NEW parts! Asked to see underside to look at complete exhaust job he did. Told me he did not have a bay available. My car has been leaking oil and now I am smelling gas in my cabin. He has a large inventory of old cars. Is that his "parts department" for some unlucky customers?Hmmm. My blood boils every time I think of him. We are not finished. If you feel lucky... take your car to him.

Took my 2017 Jaguar diesel there for an oil change and DEF fluid filled. Walter put fuel additive in my DEF tank and sent me on my way. I luckily noticed this before getting too far down the road. He did empty tank and said he rid the system of his mistake.. 200 miles later my DEF fluid was low again... expensive and unprofessional I'd you ask me. Sorry Walter but when my DEF light came back on, that was the final straw!

My daughter is a student at Purdue and took her Mini Cooper here for some repair work. The owner went above and beyond to get the car repaired. I have never had such a great experience at a car repair shop. I would give this place 100 stars if I could.

Very disappointed with their service - Never take your car to their shop. I scheduled service to fix the engine of my 2009 cc. They quoted me for 2 hr of inspection which would cost less at the dealership, and charged me over $3000 although they assured me to solve the issue for $2000. They charged the extra $1000 by fixing the fuel pump etc. without letting me know beforehand. After spending $3000, the check engine light is still on.

Very disappointed with the service, took the car for diagnostic. I was told they will contact me the next day. It took them almost 2 weeks to do the diagnostic and couldn't fix the car. Waste of time!

I came in with a BMW thinking it was their specialty and to save some money instead of the dealership, wrong! They were unable to fix my issue and not only did they try to guess but charged me for unnecessary parts which ended up costing me twice as much, I should of taking it to the dealership from the get go smh. Never coming back again.

A very nice German ancestry's couple own this place. I've had good communications with Walter. He is honest and fair priced for his services. He has sone nice classic cars sitting in his car lot that are very interesting.

After my accident Walter was amazing! I have a limited edition color for my 2002 Volkswagen Bettle and he matched the color perfectly! My front end collision looks like it never happened. From engine replacement to body work to tire replacement, he, and his crew, did a beautiful job! I've going to him for 5 years and I refuse to take my car elsewhere. They are honest and hardworking. They take all cards and will work with you if need be. Excellent!!

Best mechanic I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Fair, courteous, and he knows his stuff. I won't take my car anywhere else. I can't praise this man and his entire team enough.

Anybody in Lafayette with an old VW will tell you to take it to Walter, and I found out why. Very nice guy, quickly figured out a tricky loss of power problem with my 1978 VW bus that nobody else could figure out. Very reasonable cost and time. In addition he gave me a wealth of free advice on how to improve my performance. I will be a regular customer.

DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!! Seriously, this place is to auto repair what quack is to healthcare. Everything that we have ever had done at this place has had to be done over...everything! We had an expensive timing belt and gear job where parts needed to be replaced and we had to repair expensive coolant leaks after they repaired the water pump. Just don't go here. The owner seems nice enough, but in the end, that doesn't matter with auto repairs. Not having to have the work done over is what matters.

While they are an honest shop I brought it in and found that I had to walk into the repair shop itself just to find service with no one at the front desk. After almost a week of not hearing anything from the shop I called and found they had performed work and replaced parts without consulting me first which was fairly aggravating. After talking to the mechanics on staff they had to order the part the car needed to replace and with labor on top of everything they hadn't notified me of it topped over $700 for a $500 job. I would be cautious of repair work at this shop but for the only shop in the area to work on imports it's unfortunately a pricey decision.

I found walters auto repair by word of mouth. I have had alot of work done on my range rover at walters and would only take it to him. Walter has been fair and honest about work done and pricing. I am glad i heard about him thru another persons experience there.

I wish the slightly used smart car I bought had been take to Walter's before I bought it last May. The car is purring like a kitten after taking it to Walter's now, better than it ever has run! I had a wonderful afternoon. Walter and his wife take time out to really care as people and with how busy they are, always answer the phone and spend as much time as you need discussing problems and solutions. Worth every penny and more for the premium parts and outstanding service work! My son took his Audi A6 to Walter, and thought the service, price and honesty was tremendous.

Walter is a nice owner. He is honest about what needs to be fixed and is clear to the customer how he is going to fix the problem. I went there to replace a part on the bottom of my car. He charged me reasonable price for the labor, and also helped me to order the correct part.

I took my car here to have tires replaced. Took them 8 hours to do the job, but then the tires leaked. I took it to another tire store, they showed me 2 problems. On one tire the stem was cut when they put the tires on. Stems are normally replaced when tires are, not very professional. The second problem was the rims leaked air. The oxide was not cleaned of the rim before putting the new tire on. Again not very professional. This may have been due to poor training, but Walt, the owner did the work!! Would never take my car there again for any service.

I brought my car here to have my clutch master and slave cylinders replaced. The work was good and the labor rate fair, but they charged triple what the local car parts stores quoted for the same parts. I do not like being ripped off. There are other much more honest mechanics in town. Will not visit again.
