I took in 1500 lbs of prepared 5f clean rebar , every other recycling company gives me scrap $170 ton or prepared heavy iron at $ 200.00 ton. They told me to put it with heavy iron . They only gave me 60.00 a ton! After telling me it was heavy iron !! Then tell me it's bcs they have to take it out ant re cut it!! That's definitely a lie I have been doing this for years!!! They're putting it witb the iron and selling it as heavy iron!! Rip off !!go to cedar lake or Paul's for sure!! Way better deal!
I remember them looking at me suspiciously like I had stolen the van doors that I had replaced with windowed doors on the VAN THAT I DROVE THERE. What’s funny is that I have enough money to buy that shady biz. Then they were rushing me and mixed different value aluminum in the same pile to hurry me out. I didn’t feel that the pay was anywhere near what it should’ve been but decided to leave rather than argue. And this was several years ago but is still burned into my memory.
Took over 600# of scrap wire. Sat at my truck for at least 30 min before I finally walked up to one of the guys and he gave me a bin. Rolled it down, and to my suprise, (everywhere else will usually unload it for you) no help at all. I then asked the guy to bring a forklift down, and take it up to the scale. He told me to roll it up there. He was visually aggravated at that point, I told him I was not pushing it up there by my self. So then he says:"I've seen 80 year olds push them full all the time" Well I'm a electrician, in my mid 50's, and my back won't take it. Then he begrudgingly helped me push it up there. I was aggravated myself, at the treatment I received. I figure they make enough per hour to help people, why not? Customer service goes a long way in any business. I will never darken their door again.
Liberty Property Mgmt always uses metro recycling for all of its scrap metal and recycling needs!! Metro recycling is definitely the place to go if you have scrap metal by the car load or with the dump truck and trailer full!! They are great!! Love Leah at the window too, she's the best!!

It was my first time at Metro Recycling and their signage was inadequate. I didn't know where to go. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to drive on the scale. So I just followed the other vehicles.
At the scales, a woman's directions as to where to go next were unclear and confusing, so I parked at the wrong place - TWICE!
The two men who were taking my aluminum cans were not friendly or verbal. They didn't offer any hints as to what I was to do next, such as wait a few minutes, get back in my car, etc.
But the BEST PART was getting PAID! I got a whopping $2.25!! (Just being facetious!!)
The TRULY BEST PART was knowing that I kept 5 pounds of highly recyclable metal out of a landfill and educated my three housemates on the ease and importance of recycling! ♻️
Just used Metro Recycling in Griffith, IN. I called them on the phone as I am a newcomer to the recycling business. The staff member walked me through the process which was very easy. I was met by two guys working the scale area. They helped me unload my truck, weighed my items and instructed me where to go afterwards. The whole process was quick and easy.
Ive been scrapping my coils and copper at Metro for about 2 years now. Always freindly, courteous
honest people. I literally have a scrap yard 4 blocks from my house but i go to Metro on Main. They take pride in their yard.
Prices they give you on the phone are not the prices they give you when you come in I will never go there again it was my first time and bad experience
I've been going here for years with drums and rotors
My coworker went to valpo location recently with 900lbs of rotors, got 20.00??? I told him that's not right, I went to Griffith location today and 940lbs of rotors and they gave me 25.00??? I parked outside gate and called them, needles to say I went back in to get 61.00 and they apologized that nobody told them I had rotors
I call BS on that, they watch the cameras, 2 locations same issue with 2 people
