Wish I could add another star. The most honest and capable mechanic's I've met and a locally owned business! No wonder they came highly recommended from everyone in town.
Solid honest dudes running the place. They can usually get you in and out quick if you call ahead. I'm fairly mechanically inclined and they have never suggested an unnecessary repair to me or my wife.
I went here to have work done on my 2012 Santa fe front end, and they notice that my water pump was leaking they called me and informed me of this and I had them take care it then . They worked pretty fast and the price was reasonable. I recommend Schieben to anyone that needs their vehicle repaired. I will continue to go here for all my car repairs. Great job guys.

Honest, fast, and affordable! I got a quote from another shop for $1300, and knew that was too much for a cv axle and wheel bearing. I took my vehicle here and turns out the cv axle didn't even need to be replaced just cleaned and re-greased. They only charged me $410 dollars.
I was referred to Schieben by TJT Tire Serivce, LLC in Cedar Lake, IN because they found a crack in my exhaust pipe. Schieben got me in right away and showed me the crack and welded it to fix it right on the spot. They then totally undercharged me and refused to take more money when I offered. They are a very nice family business and I will be happy to refer everyone I know to them. My only advice is they need to charge more for their time and skills. I know if I took my car anywhere else I would have been easily charged 4x the amount and waited a lot longer to get it fixed.
SCHIEBEN AUTOMOTIVE INC. is located in the town of Cedar Lake, IN on Morse Ave. It is an unpretentious family owned business of father & son. I needed my brakes done fast as I drive from Indiana to Illinois on a FT basis. We called and the owner got us in the next day with no hassle. Once I dropped the car off I realized I needed to Uber home. The best part of a small town is the friendly manner in which the people are willing to reach out and help. I was offered a ride home and a pickup once my car was done. That in of itself shows me a lot of things I am looking for in an automotive repair shop. Awareness (understanding my car needs), timeliness, skill (professionalism), competitive pricing & most importantly good rapport with the customer .. a willingness to problem solve & be of service to others. SCHIEBEN AUTOMOTIVE INC. by & far excels on all points! I am confident in recommending this automotive business to you for your car’s maintenance & repair. after hitting something on i65 (assuming some type of scrap metal) I messed up many parts on my Chevy cruz. I called Dan and sure enough him and his team fixed all it's problems in the most fast, efficient way possible. The pricing was extremely reasonable and honestly I can't think of another company I would have trusted more. Family owned and been around for years!!! thank you so much guys!!
I love the 'ambience' and decor of the place! Like a car repair shop should be! Every time I've ever taken my truck there, the repairs are timely and the charges well within reason.
I bought a used car from them, Kevin was honest about everything that was wrong with it. A week later, I've fixed most of the issues and love the car. No surprises that weren't disclosed prior to the purchase.
I contacted them for an automobile lockout service because keys were locked in the vehicle. They arrived in less than 30 minutes and had the vehicle open in a matter of minutes. And they did it for a very fair price!
The Schieben's are great people. They do great work at great prices. They don't try to rip you off like the dealerships do. I go there for all the work I need done to all my vehicles.
Go else where. Owner Dan is combative, doest listen, and flat out unstable. The two times I have gone to do business with him he literally doesn't appear capable of having a normal adult conversation. The shop/waiting area is filthy and no where to sit unless you have a towel. There are other auto repair places in Cedar Lake that I suggest, avoid this place for your own good!
