Worst customer experience EVER. The male employees are rude, the dispatcher is worse. Their hours are from 7am-4pm but they close anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour early. They bark at you like you’re stupid because they’re lazy and close early. Their own answering machine states they’re open until 4pm but they’ll close anywhere from 3-30pm and then treat you like dirty. The other recycling plants are a farther drive, but at least they’re open when they’re supposed to be and know how to treat people with respect. My girlfriend is 7 months pregnant and got screamed at by a male employee and the female dispatcher because they closed early and acted like we should’ve known somehow. They’re rude liars who don’t know how to treat people. I’ll never go back.
Best place and prices to recycle metals. Awesome customer service. At the non-ferrous buyback, employees help you unload your recyclable materials. Kudos to Behr Iron and Metals Rockford Location, thank you!
At around 1:30 pm on Tuesday, September 19 this driver on truck #83 passed me heading westbound on highway 20 by the jeep plant he didn't tarp his load and was dropping a lot of scrap metal, speeding driving like a damn maniac, he could have caused an accident not to mention lots of flat tires due to metals he was dropping on the road from his load. I have a video and pictures, it wont let me upload video but here's the picture where it shows tarp is not being used.
Frustrated with this place. Why say you're open until 4 if you are telling people its closed at 3:45. I didn't even wanna bring a load or anything. Just had a question. Maybe if they answered their phone too I could ask my question. I'm sitting there knocking for 10 min and this short lady comes out the office and just yells they are closed from a far. I yelled that I only had a question and she walked away. A few workers saw me right when I got to the door but just ignored me. Very professional!. Change your hours to come and call at least. Very frustrating and a waste of time. Everyone's time is valuable!.
I generally take my aluminum cans here. I have even brought appliances such as old range/oven, exhaust hoods, water heaters, etc. Very friendly and convenient
Great place to recycle metals and get paid for it. You have to separate ferrous (iron) from non ferrous items and go to separate areas to drop it off. Use a magnet to identify ferrous.
I know in Arizona and I know in California they pay it going rate for aluminum 21 cans proximately makes a pound of aluminum out there I would have gotten 60 or $0.63 a pound for it here I barely got 30 you should pay fairly and you will find more people will recycle
Had a delivery there. Easy to reach there from I-90/I-39 to US-20, proceed westbound and exit to IL-2 northbound to Morgan St, turn right and another right to Seminary St before roundabout. This way avoid weight limit bridge on Seminary. Facility is located both hand of the street. First proceed to the scales which is on the right. They will tell you what to do next. Very friendly staff and fast unloading. Respect! No overnight parking.
Bought a rental truck for $85. It was full of the scrap metal and they pay me only $124. I had to pay my labor too. I’m left with nothing. Not worth of my hard work.
Only place I'll take my scrap. Best prices and they help sort so that YOU make the most money possible (Marcus in the recycling center and the white guy with tattoos on his forearm on the steel yard side are both wonderfully helpful employees) Make sure to grab a burger or breakfast at the Behr den on the property too!
Lately it seems like this place is never open. A year ago the they were never closed as much as they are now. We won't be bothering with this one anymore.
Over a 30 min process every time I go there not to mention different rules every time too. Extremely Unorganized facility and rude personnel since it's become alter.
Slowest scrap yard I've ever been to.
Make sure to plan to be here a couple hours.
Wish they had the location in Rochelle open still. It was way faster.
