I bought a problem car for my son's first car. Took it here to get the things road worthy not necessarily perfect but road worthy. They took this very seriously and found everything wrong with the car and provided me a detailed list on order of severity. With pictures. Their diagnosing team is amazing! Had an oil change - only thing I went in for about two half month ago. They ended up poking around and checking things I didn’t ask for. Afterwards about a month went by my car was leaking oil everywhere. Come to find out when the oil was changed they had over tightened my oil filter up towards the engine housing, causing issues and ended up paying $1300.00 for replacement of my engine cooler housing, Oil filter plus 6Q of oil. Will NEVER take my vehicle back here. I was not happy with the fact I take it in for an oil change and they decide to check other things I didn’t want checked and try getting you to upgrade other issues.
Always excellent and consistent service provided by both the front desk and the garage. We are long term customers and will always go to Columbia Firestone first before going anywhere else for service to our cars.

Bernhard Auto Works was a pleasure to work with, I called 15-20 shops to find a one stop shop. They were able to handle every issue from electrical problems, failing suspension, replacing torn weather stripping, tires, ball joints, tie rods, and a fresh oil change. Not to mention were able to get my steering wheel straight that many shops have failed to do, I could tell on the phone before I even brought the truck in I was going to be good in good hands as they assured they would be able to deal with everything I’ve stated above. I dealt with Clint throughout the entire process and this person goes above and beyond, truly a pleasure to deal with Clint, he doesn’t miss a single detail! If you want to know the root of the problem he will not hold back, it’s like he’s reading from the book of how everything works, can fail to how they fix the issue. All in all 5 stars from me, will be going back to this Shop without a doubt! Great jobs Bernhard. Thanks so much!
I went in for an oil change and some other minor things I knew needed to be completed. To my surprise I was asked to drop off and offered a loaner car at no additional cost so that they could look into what was all needed. Went after hours to pick up. Ryan was very good at explaining everything my car needed. I would definitely recommend Bernhardt for your auto repair
CAUTION- MIGHT CATCH YOUR CAR ON FIRE TOO AND KILL YOUR FAMILY!!!! I don’t normally leave reviews, but I feel it’s important to warn others. We trusted this business with our car, and their negligent repair work caused the vehicle to catch fire. This wasn’t just an inconvenience — it put my entire family’s lives at risk.
We gave the business the opportunity to make this right, but they failed to take full responsibility for the damage and the danger their work caused. A reputable repair shop should stand behind their work and prioritize safety. Instead, we were left with a terrifying experience.
For anyone considering taking their vehicle here: please think twice. If you value your safety and your family’s safety, look elsewhere.

From my first call, I was greeted professionally with a friendly voice. I stated my problem and they got me in the next day! They greeted me at my appointment and went over the details to verify. Columbia and the surrounding area should be lucky to have such an excellent place! After my car ran into an unexpected problem, Clint promptly let me know what was going on and told me the estimate up front and I decided to delay a couple of not-as-urgent items. After those were eliminated, the price went down to a reasonable level. And after getting my car back, she's now driving like a brand new car and I was slap-happy on the drive to work :) to where I very briefly thought about calling off work and just taking a nice drive hehe! Our experiences with Bernhard Firestone is a good one with great care taken for our cars. In past we usually received a text letting us know that the car was ready for pickup which we haven’t gotten the last couple of times. Not a negative but one of those things that you appreciate.
In May of 2025 I experienced fantastic service with Bernhard Auto Works! My very first time taking one of my vehicles to this service center. They thoroughly conducted a "full inspection" on my SL55 AMG. Brought in for an ABC suspension issue. The techs we succesful in diagnosing root cause within one day! Each adviser and technician I spoke with were very professional, personable, and compassionate to my needs. Will return!!

Outstanding service and honest work. I got a great deal on tires and asked for an alignment too. After checking, they let me know the alignment wasn’t necessary—and didn’t charge me for it. That kind of honesty is rare and shows I can truly trust them with our vehicles. Other shops might have charged anyway and claimed the work was done. They also provided a detailed video walkthrough and photos from the inspection, which added even more peace of mind.

I chose Bernhard Auto Works to install new tires on my nice wheels because they have good customer service and assured me they could install the tires without wheel damage due to the quality of their tire machine. Their invoice said my wheels had “scuffing”. The scuffing they noted was actually only on one wheel due to a previous tire shop accidentally letting the wheel and tire fall on a linoleum floor when rolling it out the door of their shop. The scuffing on that wheel is not noticeable unless you look closely at the wheel rim. When Clint called to inform me my wheels/tires were ready, he told me my old tires were difficult to remove and that the tire machine had suffered a part failure under extreme pressure when removing one of my tires. When I picked the wheels up, one of the wheels (not the one with “scuffing") had multiple chunks of plating missing. (See photos). I'm sure there are chunks of my wheel near their tire machine. When I informed them of the damage, they said the wheel was like that when they received it and that their machine couldn’t have done that. As you can see from the pictures, what I received from them was not “scuffing” but rather a wheel that needs to be replaced. I would not have paid to install a tire on a wheel in that condition. I understand they were trying to do a good job and that tire machine problems happen. That is not easy work and stuff happens. My advice is that if you have nice wheels, take a detailed video of all your wheels when you drop your car off and inspect each wheel closely when you pick your car up. Also, ensure the invoice is very specific about the condition of your wheels. I would have given a 5 star rating if not for the "That's the way it was when you brought it in" thing.
Great service--nice guys. Had a wheel refurbished to remove some curb rash and four new tires installed. Accomplished on time and with quality work. I'll be a repeat customer.
Returned for new tire installation. Not disappointed. They were quick, reliable, affordable, courteous and professional!
