Car was towed here through Tesla insurance, went to pick up my personal items from the car, and multiple items were stolen from the car- which after reading the reviews seem to be a common complaint.

The staff was friendly, but every single thing that was in my back seat prior to the accident is gone. They told me check the trunk, only the car seat was moved there. I was told to file a claim with my insurance for the missing items, the insurance lady told me that's not how this works, and I'm still waiting for a call back.

I picked up some personal items from my totaled car today. The procedure was much smoother than other reviewers described.
Just scanned the QR code on the door, checked-in the queue, and sat back to my car until got the text message (~30 minutes) that they were ready to talk to me.
The staff was kind and helpful. When I signed the documents, my car was already there.
It's 4* because I had to wait another 20 minutes for the license plates.
Other than that, great service.
There is also a food truck in the parking lot.Feb 02, 2026 -
If I could give 0 stars I will my car was taken here and when I went to pick up my Belongings a lot of person items were taken from my car and when I ask where are my items they say to contact my insurance how would they know where my items are maybe ask your worker what they did with them please try to avoid their place

Samantha was awesome! However I've been just in line for over an hour, just to get into my car. If Samantha hadn't gone above and beyond it would be one star

Absolutely terrible experience. This location has zero respect for drivers. You can arrive on time or even early for your appointment and still wait forever to get loaded. Everything moves painfully slow, like nobody cares at all.
There are tons of trucks waiting, usually only one forklift working, and no communication, no updates, no explanation. Staff acts like drivers’ time means nothing. You stand around for 30–60+ minutes (sometimes more) for no reason.Jan 08, 2026 -
I had the absolute worst experience here. Our insurance had our car towed here and later declared it totaled. Even though we arrived before at least three other customers, they were helped and given their vehicles first. We waited over an hour and a half with nowhere to sit and no restroom available with my young son.
When they finally brought up our car so I could retrieve our belongings, the inside of our car was filthy with muddy footprints on the floors and seats. MULTIPLE personal items were missing, including the bucket seat covers we purchased, a car organizer with our son’s belongings and toys, a first aid kit, a snow brush, and phone chargers. The weather mats inside were also removed and missing. Copart denied removing anything and advised the next step is to deal with our insurance, despite the vehicle being in their possession the entire time.
They also refused to show me the photos they took of the vehicle’s interior so I could see if any of our belongings that were missing could be seen in the photos they took. After nearly two hours there, I asked if my son could use a restroom and after the employee went to “ask” was told no, he had to use a porta-potty outside.
Completely unprofessional and unacceptable experience. I would not recommend this location to anyone.Jan 02, 2026 -
This is the worst company in the entire country; they show absolutely no respect for the truck drivers. They leave you waiting all day. My appointment was at 8 AM, and I didn't leave until 12 PM. They load the trucks first for whoever pays them extra and make you waste your time.

Preston is the best employee there he has helped me so much with my purchase made sure the car has nothing hidden with it and overall amazing customer service. Chill dude ask for him and he will get the job done.

They will force you to make an appointment knowing full well they are over an hour behind rather than allowing you to reschedule or comeback another day. Place should be shut down.

This place seriously needs improvement. There are no chairs or seating areas for customers, so everyone — including elderly people and those with injuries — is forced to stand for an hour or more while waiting. It’s very uncomfortable and shows a lack of consideration for customers. If you come here, be prepared to stand the entire time. They really should provide basic seating and make the waiting process more humane.

Worst communication I’ve ever experienced. Try to avoid this location if you can. I have no idea how the staff is selected here, but something definitely needs to change. What’s the point of requiring an appointment if no one brings the car out on time — or at all? Complete waste of time and absolutely no organization.

There should be a law where if the business has so many bad reviews and complaints of bad service and they don’t work on fixing it, should be shut down, otherwise they don’t give a damn

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW, SLOW!! Whether you're trying to turn in paperwork, get personal items from your vehicle, etc., be prepared to wait at LEAST 1.5 hours. Both times I came, there were only two people working with a long line. I waited over an hour for them just to bring my vehicle to get my stuff. When I asked for an update 45min into my wait, the girl never bothered to check and said she didn't know. After asking another employee, he said she probably never called the car out. During both of my visits, I was here nearly 2 hours... Absolutely ridiculous!!!

I’m editing this months later bc they sold my ez pass to someone that wracked over $500 up on our card. Do not go here!
I had my car towed here after an accident. I could not go to collect my stuff because I could not take work off so we sent a list of everything that needed to be mailed. Now a month and a half later all I’ve received was sunglasses, a charging cord, and the license plate (which we had to call multiple times to get them to mail). Everything else in my car like my ez pass and shoes are supposedly “missing”. Tried to call but customer service was rude and abrasive. Incredibly disappointedJul 28, 2025 -
This review is intended to warn future buyers about the unethical and unscrupulous practices of Copart. I purchased a vehicle at auction, and when the transport company arrived to pick it up, they took photos at the yard showing that the vehicle had been vandalized after the sale. The damages were clearly far greater than those disclosed by Copart at the time of the auction.
I attempted to contact them the same day, but it was after 5 PM and no one answered. Over the following days, I spoke with the yard manager, Allison Lynch, who ultimately told me that because the vehicle had already left the yard, I had no right to make a claim.
This logic is absurd. It’s like saying that if someone breaks into your house and you don’t catch them in the act, you have no right to report it. Copart is behaving like a mafia organization, abusing their position of power. Even with photographic evidence showing the condition of the car at the moment of pickup, they refused to acknowledge responsibility.
They also completely disregard the fact that the buyer is not the one physically picking up the vehicle — it’s done by a third-party transport company. In contrast, I’ve had a similar experience with IAAI in the past, and they took full responsibility for damage caused at their yard.
Copart should be subject to strict regulation by an independent authority that protects buyers. We pay high fees to this company, and in return, we receive vehicles further damaged by them — with no accountability whatsoever. This is unacceptable and shameful

I am new to Chicago and I got a crash in my car and The people were very helpful and quick to get my Stuff from My car but the line was very long but I could not take it my weather tech floor mats and had to waiting around maybe 35 minute to get a call for my name.

There is a reason the yard has 2.5 stars. Don’t know if it’s the amount of staff or communication issues so on, but they are the slowest yard within 200 miles. Waiting over 3 hours for one car. Bring a barbecue and some beers cause you’ll be waiting a long time. Also, this is not a new issue this yard has been this way for the last two years I’ve been transporting.

Terrible service, everything is long and inconvenient, you can wait half a day for a car, 2 hours for a title, only 2 employees in the office during rush hour with 6 windows

Be prepared to have the worst experience of your life here. Not only will you have to deal with the stress of retrieving your car, The manager Anthony will gladly ruin your day. We were presented with our car destroyed, all personal items thrown into the truck. Cups that were in the cup holder spilled soaking everything. Brought the concern to Anthony the manager he advised we write the damages on a piece of paper and they are only responsible for destroying items apparently. Good luck here I recommend having your vehicle towed elsewhere

If I could give this place no stars I would. I Had my vehicle towed here for inspection before going to a body shop and the car was held there for 2 weeks because the facility kept making excuses why they couldn't move it and when it finally got to the body shop I found items missing and my belongings thrown on the trunk. IF YOUR CAR GOES HERE REMOVE ALL YOUR ITEMS THEY WILL STEAL WHATS VALUABLE.

31 min wait to hand paperwork that’s already finished to someone. they have an office full of people and ONE person at the front. thought i would save time hand delivering it to the office but how this place runs im gonna say it would literally of been faster to over night this paperwork

I won a truck from Copart, that I was going to use for body parts(roof). When I went to pick it up there was a huge hole on the roof that they didn't take a picture of. I emailed the manager Greg the pictures and when I asked him that I want my money back because the damages were not photographed he said that he can not do anything about it. When I asked him why pictures of the this huge damages are not taken he said "I don't know."

So editing my 5 star review after 5 years. Unfortunately to 0 stars
So many thins changed
What used to be a 20 min pay and pickup now is a 4 hour ordeal.
Whoever thought this new and improoved system/app was gonna help was very wrong.
I literally sat in the lobby for over an hour to pay becase I didnt have an appointment and maybe 3-4 guys were served in that time. There were times when im sitting there all alone and ladies still woldnt help me.
When it was my time to pay I was told I need another appointment to pickup but the lady said I was lucksince they had one open spot left for that day. Just about 3.5 hours later.
I was told I shoulf have made an appointmet to pickup first because if you choose pay then the app doesnt prompt you to check if I also would like a pickup.
So if you're not a regular and dont know the small details you will learn the hard way.
SECONDLY
IF YOU'RE THE YARD EMPLOYEE
PLEASE STOP STEALING THE BASGES FROM CARS
You're causing more damage that its worth
My almost brand new Toyota GR86 had all of the badges stolen
Yes I can replace the trunk badge but the trunk itself was scratched no needs to be re-sprayed. That part of the car was perfect and did not need any work
Badge from the grill was stolen and grille was heavily scratched
BUT THE WORST ONE WAS THE STEERING WHEEL
That badge was is not available so I need a new steering wheel
Very expensive
hope you happy with yor souvenirsJun 05, 2023 -
You make an appointment, you come in advance, you go into the office again, you make an appointment, and you still wait, despite the fact that there is no queue. There are 6 cash desks, only 2 of them work. They let their acquaintances out of the queue, where the authorities are looking is not known

Copart Member Protection is a scam. It is in the sole discretion of the yard. Got a vehicle, listed clean title came out on the federal database salvage. Yard no refund. Drove 2hrs to my scheduled 1pm pick up, arrived at 11am. Stayed after 6pm. No vehicle, no help. Yard said no refund. Still charged for storage fee. Called Copart, said it’s all up to the yard. We don’t honor anything. Photo, me in the yard waiting.

TERRIBLE PLACE! DO NOT LET STATE FARM TELL YOU YOUR CAR NEEDS TO GO HERE FOR ASSESSMENT OR AN APPRAISAL! You can take it to a body shop or they can assess it at your residence. Copart came and picked up my car (which was still running and driving fine after the accident) and the tow truck driver just drove my car right up on the wheel lift and we heard a loud metal clank. We didnt know it at the time but he cracked the aluminum oil pan. When it made it to the yard they wrote leaks oil on the windshield. It sat in the driveway for 5 days after hitting the deer and didnt leak a drop. We bought the car back and found this out after inspecting the car when they brought it back to us. Also, when they slapped the magnetic tail lights on the roof I was shocked it didnt leave dents. We called Copart and the rep said they will not cover the cracked oil pan because it was leaking when it was checked in. We told them it was from the tow truck driver but they didnt care. WE EVEN HAVE PICTURES! These drivers are butchers and dont care about your vehicle. I could have drove the car to the yard with no extra damage. Its very sad when your company is that big that no one cares about the people they service. Someone was also nice enough to steal the pendant that was hanging on the rear view mirror. It had sentimental value to us. We forgot to remove it but we knew we were buying the car back and they said it was in a "secured" area so we trusted them. Im glad we pulled out the brand new headlights otherwise I'm sure they would have broke them or stole them. Never ever will one of my vehicles go there for an appraisal. Just a bunch of lying, stealing butchers. Shame on State Farm for using this company. I wish I could give them negative stars but I had to give 1 star to post this.
