Like most people I've been burned heavily before doing service work on a car that ended up being unnecessary or extravagant. Unfortunately my original feelings with this shop were born of misgiving and frustration.
That being said I've been fortunate to have met Kevin at this shop. Dealing with having my tires replaced multiple times, having a trustworthy guy that tries to right wrongs makes a world of a difference.
It sucks that our original interactions started with an expensive tire needing to be replaced twice due to sidewall issues, but the handling of difficult situations Kevin provides is everything that is lacking in the mechanic industry.
10/10 stars if you can have Kevin to interact with through the natural displeasure of needing to take your car in, he'll accomplish the unthinkable if he can train a team that can emulate his managing and leadership when he isn't available.
This specific CarX location was recommended by a friend. CarX was efficient, informative, and helpful. I made an appointment, got right in and finished in under an hour. They had oil change packages to purchase, bringing the cost down. They even called days later to check on me and thank me for my patronage. I just found my new "go to" auto repair shop!
I came in last minute on a Saturday night and they stayed late to help me get new brakes on my car because I was leaving out of town the next day. They were very friendly and their services are fairly priced. Would recommend coming here, especially if you’re in a last minute pinch.
Kevin was very professional taking care of my Honda Odyssey. He checked my tires and did an oil change. He also found my windshield washer cap laying in my engine from a previous visit from my local Honda dealer from some warranty work. Thank you for taking such good care. I highly recommend you use this Car-X.
Kevin is a pleasure to deal with and attentive to details and Mike the mechanic is one of the best around- I don't trust many people to work on my vehicles as the end result is less than acceptable from other shops. Mike does it right and makes sure you are completely satisfied with the repair being performed from oil changes to timing belt/chains to alignments- Mike is the man!
Post visit on 7/13/21: Again Kevin and Mike were awesome! Always a pleasure to deal with and very thorough!

I came here after buying a car to have the mechanic do an inspection. Inspection was the rear brakes were very bad, metal on metal. They were very professional, caring, and knowledgeable. They showed me exactly what was wrong. They were quick to get the parts and brakes replaced. Very friendly, and made me feel welcome. Would recommend to allow friends.
Great service. Good price. If you want certified mechanics work on your vehichle its good alternative to your dealership but you can save some money with car-x. If you are there, ask for Kevin who is very knowledgeable and great customer skills.
I always take my BMW here. Very quick as well as quality work. Reasonable prices and the services is outstanding. Kevin is a great guy,he always looks out for his customers and makes sure the work is done the right way. Recommended.
Kevin and his Staff member Mike are excellent people to work with, very friendly. they really know there cars, I had my tires rotated & oil change in a timely matter and doing a nice job.
The manager Kevin very pleasant very helpful he goes above and beyond to help you. The mechanic Mike worked on my car is one of the best mechanics the shop has he was my mechanic when I used to go up north on Milwaukee at the other car-x I am so happy he moved to Arlington heights it's closer to my house. Great place to go and get your job done on your car.
I had an urgent issue we thought was a fuse but it ended up being the wiper transmission. They were able to take care of me immediately and make sure it was done in time for me to pick it up. He worked on getting me the best deal out there and even checked out to make sure everything else was in good standings. I would definitely recommend going to this carx!
I went into Car-X for the first time because my front shield had been dragging. Kevin was so helpful, and was able to get to my car within 30 minutes, and within 15 minutes he was able to pin it back up temporarily even though it needed to be replaced. Kevin was so kind, honest, professional, and helpful. His assistance was beyond appreciated as a young woman with limited knowledge about auto repair. I would highly suggest going here for any auto needs.
Came in for an oil change and to find out why the vents were blowing out cold air when heater was on. The cheerfulness of the manager Kevin was a pleasure to see. The atmosphere was very pleasant. I would recommend this place to anyone who asks.
They worked hard to fix the problem which was no coolant water pump was shot . I know it was done right as Kevin is a very trustworthy person. The mechanic did a fantastic job.
I’m writing this review for my mother who had her car serviced here today. The people at this CarX were extremely welcoming and the services were done extremely well. She felt that she was treated very kindly by everyone and she will definitely be returning here in the future. To the man who helped change the sticker on my mother’s license, a genuine thank you for your kindness and professionalism! The customer service here is the best my mom has ever experienced.
I brought my car in today to get the brakes looked at and the staff was amazing! They were very clear about what condition my car's parts were in and thorough in making various recommendations on what repairs were immediately necessary vs things that could be repaired later. They were courteous and quick and the waiting area was very tidy! I'll be a return customer for sure!
The only place that I trust taking my car to get service done where I know I can sit down with the mechanics and Brian Born and really make sure I evaluate all of my options in terms of service and repairs. Brian is one the most professional and polite employees I’ve encountered at any Automotive Service/Repair shop. He really took the time to explain what was wrong with my alternator and explained the issue I had by going in depth with what the parts do and why it needed to get swapped. I know that I can come in and get reliable, honest, and professional service, I thank this Car X and it’s employees for all the services and hard work they put into every car that rolls through those doors.
I can’t say enough good things about the guys that work at Carx. I’ve been there for several oils changes and a couple new tires and they are always friendly and try and get me the best price and never keep me waiting long. I recently went there because of a check engine light and Brian was awesome. He’s always so nice and professional. He gets me in and out and I don’t feel like I’m overpaying when I leave:)
Updating my review, once again I went to my dealer and had a heart attack as they provided me a laundry list of scheduled maintenance while I went in for an oil change. I declined it all as the total would've equaled a mortgage payment. So I headed back to Car-X. New manager Jason pointed out that a lot of the items the dealer recommended to do had already been done at my last visit at Car-X! Then he told me details about the new brake/rotor warranty -- which I took -- and then gave me a discount on other service, that was already cheaper than what my dealer wanted to charge. Car-X is my place for car repairs.

This is my go-to garage for repairs. Nicole, the manager, and the mechanics, provide wonderful customer service. They always provide me with their honest assessment of the issue and take care of it. They've even told me, no, you don't need to replace that at this time when they could've padded the bill. They always do a great job and I feel my car is running the way it should and is safe.
I have been a customer of there for 5yrs. I had a problem with a mgr. and when I called the following day the person who I guess was taking his place for the day had not been informed of my problem. Known of that being his fault although the way he handled it was unsatisfactory.
I asked to speak to the supervisor of the store he said he had no idea. I'm now extremely frustrated and told him to go ask
mechanic Mike he had worked on my car and the day before was getting the mgr. up to snuff on my situation. He put me on hold and told me that they were too busy in back and I said to answer with a name of a supervisor? Seriously anyway I asked him for a phone number of who I could call that may know. He didn't want to tell me. I told him this was unacceptable hung up and started the pursuit of finding that mysterious supervisor! After several disconnects wrong extensions etc etc I got a call from Supervisor Patrick he was wonderful and accommodating and helpful he took care of the rest. I went in the following day and to my surprise mgr.#3 was an old mechanic from there and customer if mine. They had moved him to manage that store

My first visit dealing with Nichole was very positive, however subsequent visits were bad experiences. Went in for a bearing replacement and was quoted double what another local shop quoted me. Third time I called and made what I thought was an appointment with "John." He asked some basic questions regarding my tire size which I gave. I said I would arrive in 10 minutes, which I did, and was told they would get me in right away. Caution, John was not honest as I stood around waiting for 40 minutes until I finally asked for my keys and promptly left. "John" had a stand offish attitude, spoke to me in a condescending manner, tried to tell me I didn't know my tire size, total lie, and was not honest. I would strongly urge you to go elsewhere or only use this shop if Nichole is there. I will never deal with "John" or give my business to Car-x as a result of this poor treatment. I see why the parking lot is empty most days when I drive by.
Great experience here. Have old Mercedes which needed new pumps for coolant system. Was quoted high prices at other mechanics, but prices was awesome at Car X. I worked with Nicole W., and the team did a quick troubleshoot and found out what was needed for my old car. People were beyond kind and helpful, also provided snacks and coffee while I waited. Now I have a trusted place for my cars. Thank you!!
I had a complicated issue with my vehicle and brought my car back to Car X on multiple occasions. Car X had great customer service and looked over the car each time replacing parts and double-checking the systems they worked on until we finally found the issue and fixed it permanently. During the follow up visits Car X tossed the inspection and servicing fees because they were unable to identify and fix the issue during the initial visit which demonstrated great integrity and customer service on their part. I would recommend this location to anyone needing work on their vehicle.
Great guys! I had my car worked on by another shop two days before, and my car started making horrible banging sounds from the back end. My other shop was closed on Saturday, but these guys were open and said I could bring it in. They took it for a very short spin and put it up on the lift. One of my rear wheels was so loose you could wiggle it back and forth! They tightened the lug nuts, and did the other three tires to be safe. That fixed the problem perfectly, and they didn't charge me a penny. I had them give me estimates on two more repairs I know I need eventually, and they were the same as my other shop, whom I've trusted for years, so I know they're not overcharging. My wife also had a repair done by them (new starter motor), and they did a good job, quickly, and didn't overcharge, so I give them a hearty 5 stars!
I have been to this location several times now and initially came as a result of another happy customer. Everyone has alwys been polite and professional. The mechanics always introduce themselves which I think is a nice touch. I worked with Mike to get new tires during my most recent visit. He was informative and patient with my questions. He made sure he offered me whatever he could by way of cost saving offers. I appreciate all he was able to do.
Great customer service. I wrote a review yesterday about an incident that I had at the Arlington Heights store and the District Manager (Nick) called me personally 3 hours later and we talked about what happened. Nick met me today at another location and checked the same brakes that were on back in February and saw that the brake pads were still in good shape on my car. He apologized for the brakes trying to be sold to me when I did not need them. He was great guy and he is truly looking out for the customers that use his business and his company. I will continue to take my car to CAR X, but I will be using a different location.
I Visited this location for the 3rd time in February for an oil change and transmission fluid change. I returned to this location because I felt like the guys were honest and begin upfront with me about my car. I was called during the day saying that they looked over my car and found everything to be in great order, but that I needed new front brakes and rotors. I told them that I had just had the brakes down at about about 20,000 miles (most of my miles are highway miles) before and that if they were bad I would take a look later on and I declined the service. The car made no noises and the brakes didn't give me any issues the past 5 months. Flash forward to today, today I was rotating the tires for the first time since the February oil change with a buddy of mine who works on his own cars all the time and saw that my brake pads are still practically brand new and the rotors were fine. I am glad I declined this service back in February because I would have been out $400 based on the lie I was told. I lost a lot of respect for this place and will never return. Honesty goes a long way and it is hard to trust people who are going to try and stiff you!
Matt was absolutely amazing. I used to take my Toyota to the dealer but I was looking for somewhere else and I will be going to his shop from now on. He took care of fixing my brakes and doing my oil change. He was very busy today, Tuesday, and yet he took care of me as if I was the only one who needed help. He was professional and timely in the way he took care of my car. I would recommend this shop to anyone. I will be bringing my car back for anything it needs.
This place is great!! Matt (the manager) is always nice and pleasant. He will help you out in any way he can. They have done a wonderful job servicing both of my cars for years. Their prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend them!
The manager here is one of the most professional (and just flat out nice) people that I've met when it comes to this kind of job. I needed the thermostat replaced on my car, a repair which isn't easy, and he helped me in every way he could, including helping to find me the most inexpensive option. Plus, the location is easy to spot from the road, and if you're going to be there for a little while, it's a short walk from a couple places to eat. This was my first time here, but even though I had to reschedule my appointment, they still helped me out and did their best to work with my schedule, even though I wasn't somebody they're met before.
Highly recommended. I will be back here.
The one thing I like about them they seem to sincerely want to help you solve your car problems. Their prices are fair, service good. Service manager Byron/owner is outstanding. Their mechanics are very nice and seem honest.
I have used them for several years and highly recommend them.
